"Bregalad, Lanny," says Marodin. "One of you needs to put your foot through that door."

Lanny the elf

Lanny steps forward to the door.

"You know, they really need to teach lock picking in the monasteries... Let's try the hobgoblin's key first, maybe it will work on this door too..."

If the key does not work, the invisible Lanny will sheathe his sword, back up, and charge at the door shoulder first.
Strength Check: 15

Lanny will try up to three times to batter down the door. If the first attempt is unsuccessful, he will immediately listen at the door for any sounds beyond the door (Hear Noise: 1-2 on 1d6). If he fails to break down the door, he will stand back and let Bregalad give it a try. (Finglas, I guess whichever one of us has the chance to post first can make the first attempt on any future locked doors, since Bregalad and Lanny both have Strength 15.)

Stuck doors: generally require Strength Check to force open
Locked doors: generally require Strength Check (minus 4) to force open
Barred doors: generally require Strength Check (minus 8) to force open
Magically locked doors: cannot be forced open

Note: A failed first attempt at forcing open a door will alert any creatures on the other side and prevent them from being surprised.

Bregalad the elf
Sounds good, Frobozz.
Bregalad will attempt to force the door open, if Lanny's attempts are unsuccessful.
If the key and strength checks fail to open to door, then I guess it's hammer time!

I knew what was coming and I still clicked on it. Man, Hammer was on top of the world when they made that. I hope that door falls as hard as Hammer's career did.

Lanny takes a few steps back and rushes into the door. The result is perhaps a bit anti-climactic, given that Lanny is invisible and no one can therefore see him rebound off the door as if he had been hit by a giant's club. Rubbing his shoulder, he puts his ear to the door and listens, but hears nothing amiss.

Bregalad calls for Lanny to step back and, flexing his panther-like muscles he takes a shot at forcing the door open. This time, all can see the mighty elf bounce off the door, a resistable force meeting an unmovable object. It is almost as if the door were treated with some sort of elf-repellant, so violently are they rebuffed.
Two natural 20s in a row! I probably should assess some damage to you guys, but didn't.

Thordin the dwarf will do his best to cover his smile, hefting his warhammer.

Bregalad the elf

"Achh! This door resists my mighty efforts!"

Seeing Thordin pull out his war hammer, the elf stands aside and puts away his smaller (but functional) hammer.

Lanny the elf

Rubbing his sore shoulder, Lanny approaches Thordin and Marodin at the door.

"Before you throw out your shoulders using those warhammers, you might first see if there is a magical barrier placed upon this door. We have already seen the presence of Alphatian magic in this castle... That would certainly explain why two strong and sturdy elves such as Bregalad and myself could not bring down a simple locked door..."
So yeah, Lanny's ego is a little bruised as well. :) If the rowan shield detects no magic on the door, then Lanny will Stop (for) Hammer Time (and hope that they) Break It Down.

It takes several minutes, but the door is finally reduced to splinter's under Thordin's relentless assault. Beyond the doorway is a ten-foot long corridor that branches in three directions. The north and south branches travel for twenty feet before terminating in closed doors. The western branch is only ten feet long.

Lanny the elf

Lanny examines all three passages beyond the splintered door.

"What is the purpose of this short dead end passage to west? Perhaps the original passage was sealed off at some point..."

Lanny walks over to the western wall and begins to search it for any evidence of sealed or hidden doors.
Searching For Secret Doors: 1 Turn (10 minutes) per 10x10 square area
[*] Success: 5-6 on 1d6 (elves), 6 on 1d6 (all other PCs)

I'm not sure how many people can fit to search a single 10x10 square area at one time... but the more the merrier! ;)

Shit. Sorry, there is a door at the end of the western passage as well. FYI, I'm doing this Studio Tour thing this weekend and my posting may be limited.

Lanny the elf

Lanny blinks hard and shakes his head a few times as he looks at the western wall.

"My apologies... the door is standing right in front of me. Apparently, my knock on the last door has knocked some sense out of me... Well, shall we try the western door anyway? I just pray that all of these doors are not similarly locked..."
If a different door is suggested by anyone, Lanny will be happy to change to vote to help achieve a quick majority.

The western door is examined and determined to be unlocked and free of traps. No noises can be heard through the stout oak.

Lanny the elf

After the western door is searched, Lanny draws his sword and takes his place in the marching order as he waits for the door to be opened.
