Town Business

Silvine's: Art Dealer & Sculptor

Gerdal enters the shoppe and addresses Silvine.

"Good day to you my good friend, hope you are blessed this lovely day. I know you are a busy person, so I will get straight to the point: is it true that you are preparing a Candelabra for my good friend Sven?"

She carefully traces the facial outlines of a statue with her index finger, while speaking. "Beautiful piece."

My apologies, it is actually being refurbished by Konrad of the gnome artisans. I will cut and paste your visit there.

housekeeping

June 10th - 26th

Orgoth contacts Mrs Springmeadow, elderly housekeeper to the missing former Cromm Cruach minister, Elder Barraclough. His cottage in a state of disrepair and untidiness.

Current Cromm Cruach itinerant, Golgarth has stayed on in Bogtown for extra days so the half-orc steps in with handyman help, principally to fix the slate roof tiles and repair the chimney breast, tidy the garden and whitewash the exterior walls.

He is aided by Moorheeth and Isvand, the later only able to commit half the time of the others due to his training commitments with Sun Tsieng Roy.

For their service to the community, each gets a pro rata XP award, (I have added this to your tally in my notes).

Sven returns to the tailors who fixed their tapestry.

"Hello again, friends."

"I would like to put your fine skills to the test yet again, if I may?"

"I would like you to create a Spider Silk priestly stole for Sister Cella at the chapel of St. Ygg."

"How much would something like that cost? Would 20 gold do the trick?"

Sven

While the weavers at the looms in Valeron's small holding are busy, you can cross the village to see Vina the miller's wife who has her own set up.

It was Vina who taught the Mending to Gerdal which she used to good effect upon the tapestry.

"A gift. Why you are such a sweetheart." she says and scribbles down a few suggested Stole designs from sunbursts to St Ygg runes, pastoral flower designs or something representative of the church militant.

Checking cloths you can select a suitable fabric colour and eventually settle of accruments such as tassels, decorative fringes and cloth tapering. Size you might have to guess unless you get up close for measurements but Vina has a delicate eye for such details. She takes the -20gp and says you can collect in a week. (July 1st?).

"She's about the same size as me, I'd guess."

"Thank you Vina! I am sure she will love it if you made it."

"Here's a little extra for you to get yourself something nice too."

Sven leaves 25gp behind for the gift.

"I'll see you then.........hopefully."

Moorheeth

Stretching out after helping tidy the roof up Moorheeth shakes hands with the others, this is a good thing you've done here! Hard work in the sun has bolstered my spirits! Given me a few ideas for my shrine as well.

He walks off with more spring in his step, finishing something with his hands helping to bring back the confidence that was shaken during his encounter with Vargoulis.

The Silver Standard Merchant Company

Deucalion arrives hoping to speak with Mr. Turgen about his caravan routes.

"I understand that my associate, a young Mr. Jolly, has an account here and I was hoping to speak with someone about moving merchandise to Ironguard."

He goes on to explain that he is looking for the cheapest way to get some goods to the citadel with the least amount of hassle. Adding that he himself could accompany the wagons as a guard, being good with both bow and spell.

"How would something like this work for you? Do you have daily trips back and forth? Weekly?"

Silver Standard Depot

Trips to Ironguard and Bogtown happen on a weekly basis for cargo with a stagecoach running every other day as a general rule.

Depending on current Duchy guidelines, the number of guards is a pro rata to the overall value of the goods. He usually hires mercenary guards on a day to day basis via the Mercenerary guild unless a special trip is arranged and extras are needed. Most of his staff are 'civilians' rather than military veterans as the guild might be.

Certainly you can commission a wagon if you have enough cargo and he will provide a driver (Crabtree, Hooper & Pike; the latter deceased being typical torchbearer rednecks who go along as drivers). If you just wanted to send a secured chest or strongbox, he can do that and have it go to SS depots in the other settlements and kept in safe storage or sent in via courier to individual merchants.

He prides himself on getting cargo through, obviously bandits and highwaymen are bad for business. So has various means, for a price, to shield cargo.(Invisibility, Nystul's Magic Aura, traps).

He advises that a stagecoach will leave for Ironguard tomorrow if the elf wishes to avail himself a seat and spend a day in Ironguard getting merchant contacts.

This sounds like our best option.

That way contacts can be confirmed in person.

Thanks!

I forgot to post this before we left, but it’s really only flavor, so wouldn’t necessarily require a reply.

The day before the BRAG team leaves for their current mission, Sven gathers every Adventurers Guild member together in the War Room to discuss plans. They don’t congregate inside the tent however, as the new Guildmaster wants to try something he calls a “working meeting”.

While discussions are held, the entire group walks through the main parts of town cleaning up rubbish, pulling weeds, mending broken fences, tending unkempt gardens, straightening sign posts, and any other simple general labor that needs doing, specializing of course, in helping any old ladies cross the muddy streets.

“I believe doing little things like this will make us look better in the public eye. I want the common people of Helix to see there is more to our Guild than just messing around in old tombs, and disturbing the dead. Does anyone have ideas about other things like this we could do in the future?”

No one will be forced to go along on this, obviously. Though routinely skipping Guild events will eventually be frowned upon.

Durgo

Durgo back from an adventure and still working on skills at the Old Manse checks to see if there are openings in the Adventures guild, "Ay folks? Names Durgo.
Thought I'd see if you need more members? Just go back from a Silk and Silver run with success. Lot's of info I could pass on for future runs that way and I'll be working with other folks to set up regular runs that way. I may or may not be going on them as the team may want to do other expeditions, but I'll possibly have a hand in the trade deal for future deals out that way. Food for thought though for now. Is there a cost to join here?

Bulletin Board: Helix Market Square.

Durgo listens to various tavern gossip and the adventurers rumour mill, hearing of the A.G. There is a notice posted in the village square and going to read it to find more information you meet with an elven steward, Deucalion.

"We are just breaking new foundations at an old farmstead on the outskirts of town. A small holding that unfortunately was burned to the ground after a leprous outbreak.

A shame, the parents died but two younger were never found. It is thought they ran into the forest since it was the Duchy militia that torched the place, afraid I think in case being found infectious they might be quarantined. The rangers searched for them but no bodies where ever found. I hear that forest Gnolls occasionally take pity on foundlings to raise them among their own tribes, though in my view, that fate would be worse than death.

Master Jolly has been given title of the lands by Lord Krothos now and he chairs the Guild though most members are planning another delve soon and are away with personal preparations.

I too will be going to Ironguard Motte for a few days to research papers and sell some relics.

If you enquired at the end of the month, I am sure folk will be available to take your enquiry."

He tells you the Guild is building a communal hall and function room with presently, temporary under canvas accommodation. There is a membership fee, paid upfront but that covers various costs and gives access to community fellowship and knowledge.

"Best to mark the end of the month in your calendar and enquire face to face in the tavern."

so Durgo, just to avoid continuity issues, the Guild members are actually in town at the same time as you, but they leave Helix for an expedition on June 27th. For brevity, it is easier to say you never quite meet up with Sven & Co than to get you all retrospectively chit chatting. But certainly you can engage with Deucalion and I will try to answer any questions you may have.

Durgo

Drugo goes over to Turgen's mercantile to see if he can purchase a healers kit.

"Hail....I'm looking for a healer's kit if you have any left and I need a cartography kit. I'm looking to learn the skill and we are looking to map the route to the north towards the quarry and probably further out. We are setting up an expedition to get some silk and see if we can find the lost kids."

Durgo goes shopping.

You can collect a doll figure for the lost girl and a large cudgel for the boy. The cudgel, sized as a baseball bat is inscribed with the motifs of the Ironguard Gladiators, the champion team in the Citadel league of inter-guild jousters.

For yourself you equip a 'Cartographic Toolkit' which ostensively comprises of quality thin skin vellums to draw on, multi coloured inks and quills, distance compasses, a magnifying lens, two signalling mirrors and an arrow in a string that settles to point towards magnetic north when hung and spun around. -50gp

1st Aid Kit, (strictly one per person) -25gp.
