Re: Bogtown: Favours
Dalin sighs "Very well, and here I was going to buy you guys drinks." the dwarf takes up his light crossbow at a very short distance "You want to be like that well you deserve a bolt then." he ads while firing at the closest threat.

The Old Dwarf Bridge
Gunter Red Shirt
Gunter races to the fallen Cleric, hoists him onto the horse and vaults in behind him.
"Friends we must flee or surely perish here!"
He wraps a strong arm about Golgarth's waist trying to stem the bloodflow as he rides towards any gap in the near-side barricade at best speed.

Re: Bogtown: Favours
At Gunter's urging, Johka alters his plans, attempting to scoop up the dog as he turns and makes his way back toward the barricade, hoping to cross over it once again without suffering too much from the flames.
If we can just make it back to the other side...he thinks.

Re: Bogtown: Favours
Old Dwarf Bridge over Troubled Waters.
Murder and mayhem continue upon the Old Dwarf Bridge. The guards by the flaming barricade defend themselves, one takes a crossbow bolt for his trouble. -3hp. Other bolts hit a target too. The crossbow militia, maybe one time there were Gunter's compatriots? They aim at him and the fleeing brigands. The rear rider of the pair of dwarves is shafted in the spine. -8hp He sags limply in the saddle and then falls to the ground, joining Golgarth -1hp to bleed out on the bridge.
The Sgt-at-arms urges the militia crossbowmen to stop the brigands from escaping. They double time their running and fire at the retreating wagon. Their attacks are fully five hundred yards away, the limited of the weapons range yet of the volley, half of them find a mark as the bolts thud around the turning wagon. Cloverfield staggers from bring impaled -7hp and falls from the wagon seat. The draft horse stalls as the reins go limp, moving away from the burning barricade to halt by the roadside. The last trooper aims for the barking hound. So does Johka. The missile hits before the half-orc can grab his collar. A mean act against a defenceless animal. The dog yelps in pain -4hp and struck by a bolt, limps between the horses hooves before collapsing to add another body to the chaos. Froed moans at the loss of his dog. He bucks his horse to rally against the pikemen.
Gunter leaps off his horse to pick up the dying Golgarth, throwing him over the horses haunches as he bleeds more. Sidkrake fends off the two pikemen with his sword. Johka is caught in no man's land and about turns.
Spurred on the three horsemen gallop away,
"Johka drive the wagon. We must away." one shouts.
With the cleric down and his healing prayers gone, saving Golgarth might be down to any other lotions, potions or creative ideas you guys have. 1st Aid could be applied if someone has a kit and he is not on the back of a horse, on the wagon bed being attended?
next actions Dalin, Gunter and Johka please.
Health Status.

Re: Bogtown: Favours
Johka curses as the hound dies mere moments before he can save the beast. He rushes to take Cloverfield's place in the wagon, pausing momentarily to ensure he is in fact dead, before taking up the reins and urging the draft horse after the riders.

Bridge of Sorrows
Gunter Red Shirt
Gunter spurs towards the cart and dumps Golgarth as gently as he can in the back as Johka takes the reins from the fallen Cloverfield.
Trying his best to rally his companions Gunter shouts in his loudest parade voice to cut through the din of battle.
"Anyone not ahorse get in the wagon now, we are leaving! First one in help Golgarth and keep him from bleeding to death until we can get him aid. And keep your bleedin' heads down!
Sid, lead us to your friends quickly, we'll follow. Ride man, ride!!"
Those afoot scramble into the cart and the bloodied group departs the area away from the militia at the bridge. The troop heads back towards Sidrake's guild companions in Bogtown.

Re: Bogtown: Favours
Dalin digs out his pack and pulls out the honeyed Potion of Extra-Healing Brother Clive and the ranger gave him. "Someone else drive I'm gonna try to save our friend." he tries to get Golgarth's unconscious form the potion trying to help coax the liquid down his throat in a manner that does not cause the fellow to choke and drown. He then works on bandaging the wounds as best he can with whatever supplies he has at hand.

Re: Bogtown: Favours
Old Bridge over Troubled Waters.
The trio of horsemen each dextrously leap over the flaming barricade to ride by the wagon. Gunter dismounts, grabs the bleeding Golgarth and unceremoniously dumps him in a pool of his own blood upon the wagon bed. Johka runs by the stricken Cloverfield. The mage is dead, pierced by militia crossbow bolts.
Dalin withdraws from the combat with the guards, salvation for the priest is within his hand's. He searches for a healing potion. Knatchbull interposes his large bulk to ward away the two road block guards. One stabs him for his trouble -4hp. Sidkrake steers his horse by the melee as Froed urges the wagon forward.
The two pikemen on the bridge mercilessly deal with the dog and dwarf, beheading both. The Sgt-at-arms orders a new volley of bolts but the party begin their escape as they clatter the ground around them.
Golgarth bleeds a little more as the elixir is forced down his throat. -1hp.
next round actions ...
Dalin jumping in beside the priest to minister the aid and triggering another bolt towards the guards. He hits the one injured further who goes down, Knatchbull takes another wound as he withdraws, -5hp. He tries to clamber on the back of the wagon as it pulls away.
As he does, his huge frame overshadows the dwarf and priest, presenting a big silhouette which the militia crossbow men aim for. Of half a dozen bolts, a single one pierces him in the back and he suddenly jerks, loosing his grasp upon the wagons frame and falling to the ground. -4hp.
The wagon pulls away out of distance as the Sgt-at-arms arrives with the pikemen to push the remnant barricade aside and castigate the sleeping guards that were ensorcelled.
Cloverfield, Knatchbull, Kolt the dog and an unnamed dwarf lie dead. Golgarth drains the potion completely for he lies grievously injured to the point that before the liquid can work its magic, streaks of blood and runny, honey-infused elixir spurt from his torn abdomen. +18hp A round from death he is pulled back from the brink.
The group can add their discussions and post mortems next. actions please.

On the road back to Bogtown
Gunter Red Shirt
As soon as he's sure the Militia isn't following them Gunter slows the troop to a steady march instead of a mad dash.
As the horses are resting at the slower pace, he rides next to the wagon cuts a loose salute at Dalin.
"Thank you for what you done for the Stonefather, I won't forget it. I've seen plenty of death-wounds on campaign and if it weren't for your help I'm not sure he would have made it back down from Cromm's mountaintop.
And you Golgarth, you look a lot better now that you've stopped leakin! Remember, your organs belong inside your body!"
"Froed, glad that you made it and right sorry about Kolt and your companion. Can you tell us what happened that the gallows was yer next stop?"
Looking about at the group he waves his arms wide in emphasis.
"We're all innit now friends that's for sure. We need to clean up in case we run into any patrols on the road and then get out of sight and lay low for a bit with the guild or in the woods.
We're stuck on this side of the Moorwash for a time unless we fancy a trip through the swamp. That Sergeant is not likely to forgive and forget I reckon. It won't be just Renatta's face on the wanted posters soon methinks. Hmm, I'll need to buy a new shirt, shave and whatnot. Heck we need to change up and right quickly or we'll all be in irons or hanging from a bridge."

Dalin glad but also sullen "Damn it. I lost more men again! What was the point of that we didn't save anyone. Hell they even killed the dog!" after verbalizing his emotion the dwarf takes a deep breath "At least I managed to save one person. But I did say where we were going so I imagine visiting the mad druid is a bit out of the question. Now what?" looking at who is left "Well I guess we did manage to save one." he looks at Froed. hopefully I'm not getting my intel mixed but is Froed the only one we saved? I lost both mercs as well correct? Also who is Sidkrake? "The mercenary guild isn't going to let me hire from them anymore, all I manage is to get folks killed. That's bad for business. Damn!" the dwarf curses his luck once more. "And here we thought delivering something to a friend was going to be easy. Well hell we managed to wind up right in the middle of a shit storm didn't we?" he says looking at Johka.

Re: Bogtown: Favours
Golgarth
Sidkrake and Solly were two mercenary hires from my last expedition. The first stayed with us while the second returned. Sidkrake is a rogue skilled merc.
Froed is a dwarf rogue who came to Bogtown to investigate the collapse of the rogue guilds. (They had been infiltrated by the cultists or murdered). He acts as an intermediary between rogue guilds in Bogtown and Ironguard, and the guards at the bridge suspected he was an associate of Renata.
Golgarth checks his body, making sure the right bits are in the right place.
He hopes the rescue of Froed proves worth it. He is sorry about the loss of other comrades. Of course if my Sanctuary spell had worked I might not have been attacked and if my Command spell worked I would not have been injured. The sleep spell did work to even the odds. Not sure what else we could have done to try and rescue the dwarves from being lynched. I understand you might feel the rescue actually endangered yourselves.
The priest says little, giving thanks to those who saved him.
Is there another way to the Druid's Moathouse? My understanding of the map is either cross the river by this bridge or going across the Barrow Moor. Maybe we can get a boat?
Or blag it, join the next trade convoy in disguise?
I guess the first thing is hearing from the rescued dwarf Froed.

Dalin looks to Froed "I am sorry about your companions and your dog. But I must ask is it true you know Renata? I saved her once, and was sent here to meet with her by a mutual friend in Helix from the foul pheasant." he more or less informs Froed. "We may not need to worry about the mad druid if it turns out Renata is somewhere else we can get too. That and who knows we might be able to pay someone to deliver a letter to him."

Re: Bogtown: Favours
Golgarth
I suppose my character arc and I think Gunter's too, is mostly focussed on the emergence of this strange cult.
(It is some Impurax, god of pestilence and disease 'death cult' type where followers receive a giant tick that feeds on their spines like a parasite but through that creature, the cultists are able manipulate the minion and cause them to manifest various things.
So that focus is predominantly in Bogtown. But the suspicion was the cult had infiltrated an elvish temple in Ironguard as well and planned to attempt some kind of assassination of the Duke (or convert him to their faith) at some Masquerade Ball which Renata plans to attend.
We were going to ask the druid Bjornark regarding further Impurax influences and how to combat them. Such as that environmental threat with the bees and treants, and this other one Dalin informed us about with the man turning into a tree after being cursed in a fey grove where he lived among dryads.
action . Considering stuff, I will wait for any report from Froed and then suggest that instead of the druid, we could see the Toadmother?

I am updating the draft post for this Expedition now. Bear with me.
Re: Bogtown: Favours
Bogtown
The group, discouraged with events, return in a hurry towards Bogtown and refuge within the Toasted Troll.
Checking behind, no militia have kept up pursuit. After Golgarth's miraculous recovery courtesy of a druidic honey potion and the grace of Dalin, the team discuss what happened. In the end the affair has to be put behind you, recriminations halted, apologies made. Eyes and ears turn towards rescued dwarf Froed.
"Thank you, friends, kinsman and brothers unknown. A harsh drop from a short rope never a fate to aspire to." He tells his story. One of betrayal and intrigue. "As you know, I came to Bogtown to inquire of my associates. Many had succumbed to the influence of the Impists. Those who did not were found, if found at all, face down in many a creek. But the extermination of the rogue brethren was not just a localised thing here. A malign reach has extended to other smuggling gangs in the Citadel. People are being exposed and then dealt with in harsh ways.
Kraig and I, we were caught on a heist. Hijacking a shipment of silver bullion. Taken as tax and destined for the Citadel coffers but in truth, the silver is exchanged by the Silvanus Embassy and wrought into binding chains, enchanted to hold people secure, not just physically but to stop their forms altering. Silver has long been a nemesis over evil creatures and now we are turning the tables. The cache was hoped to be taken by Renate and is forged anew, into redactive torcs that might be worn and bind the minions of this resurgent evil.
But as I said, the rogue Brethren are infiltrated by spies and one, beholden to some parasite betrayed our plans."
He tells you that Renata is camped out in the Moon Peaks, at a dwarven smithy. The silver bullion has been taken by the Silvanus Embassy in Bogtown and is used to create super-tensile chains and shackles which the Inquisition apply upon those suspected of being lycanthropes.
He offers that a raid to rob the silver ingots before they are smelted and taken instead to the dwarven forge may arm the rogue brethren in fighting cultist activity in the Citadel and aid in exposing Impurax minions there.
will you aide in raiding the Embassy?

Gunter Red Shirt
Gunter shudders and absently rubs the deep scars on his neck as he takes in Froed’s tale.
“Methinks it’s no coincidence we found you afore ya swung. I’m right sorry about your friend and Kolt too but I feel the influence of Cromm led us to you just in time.
I will join your fight but let’s come up with a plan we stand even odds of survivin’.
I would see the Embassy razed to its foundations and the ruins salted for the evil that went on there.”

Golgarth
I have heard such a rumour regarding these shackling chains. I think Dalin might confirm such when he hijacked a prisoner van and released the werewolf man. I know too that elder Barraclough was making these inscribed neckerchiefs for the children of Bogtown that might help ward their minds from charm and mind effect magics. And the cult seems all about taking over people's free will, inducing them to subservient minions and pawns. If these silver ingots are forged to bind lycanthropy, what else could they bind, and what else loose?
Decided. I will help raid the Silvanus Embassy, if only to root out the influence of the Impurax Cult there. Then, after saving Bogtown, we might be saving the Citadel.

Re: Bogtown: Favours
"I am with you as well," Johka declares. "This cult must be brought to light and eliminated as a threat."
