CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm

Saiph heads over to see what Podo has found.

Urlando will enter the chamber Podo found. While Podo examines the cylindrical platform, Urlando goes down the short hallway to the room with the shiny metallic floor. He will examine it from the edge of the room, then look up to see how high the room goes.

If he observes nothing obviously hazardous, he will tap the floor with the tip of his spear.

Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 261D/81 (Afternoon)

Podo examines the rectangular blocks attached to the northernmost platform. He gingerly probes the upper surface of the platform trying to elicit a response. His attempts prove futile, so he inspects the side blocks. The featureless protrusions are homogeneous with the platform, void of any seams or connection gaps. If they are removable, the means to do so are not apparent or available.

Urlando enters the short hallway leading to the circular room with the metallic floor. He scans the area, noting it to be like the other rooms with a matching ceiling. He cautiously taps the floor with his spear and the weapon’s head sinks into the shiny plane, producing ripples across its surface.

Silvestri and Saiph make their way to Podo’s location.

Feeling a little more comfortable, Podo reaches for the blocks - pushing, pulling, and sliding gently to see if they move or articulate at all. If nothing happens, Podo will examine the black stalactite in the small alcove to the west mumbling to himself as Saiph and Silvestri enter, "Maybe there isn't anything in here of value after all."

What is the blue line below the second circle? Is that more blocks or some kind of panel?

Kurot will join Podo's group.

Max helps Podo, trying to determine what, if anything, is a panel that could work this.

Denslow shambles over to where Podo's group is.

Silvestri

While the others try various things, Silvestri spends some time examine the room in general to see if anything is familiar from when he examined the working room in the other tower.

Pacing nervously, Anton keeps watch while everyone is prodding panels and buttons to see if there's any response from the facility at large.

The rat-man prods again at the liquid metallic floor of the side chamber with his spear, without stepping onto the floor. When he withdraws his spear, is it intact? Does any of the liquid stick to the spear?

If his spear is undamaged, he will try to sink it as deeply into the floor as he can. Does he detect a bottom to the strange pool of metallic liquid?

Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 261D/81 (Afternoon)

Podo, discouraged by the static nature of the platform blocking, moves to examine the black stalactite in the narrow alcove. The object sits in a ceiling groove that extends out into the main room, terminating above the center circular platform. Unable to fit completely into the alcove, Podo should be able to extend an arm and grasp the object. Like the adjoining rooms, the alcove is smooth and featureless.

Max and Silvestri, collectively understand the panels and displays in the first tower were of an incorporeal nature and thus a product of an operational facility. This structure, lacking the vitality of the previous, perhaps cannot produce the magical vigor witnessed before.

Kurot and Denslow make their way to the others.

Urlando continues to prod the mysterious metallic floor. The liquid momentarily sticks to the spear head before dribbling back into the pool. The rat-man plunges the undamaged weapon down into the floor until the limit of his reach has been realized. He is unable to detect a bottom to the volume.

Anton remains at the edge of the central chamber, watching for any sign of response to his comrade’s exploration. He ponders the condition of this titanic building and wonders who ransacked the place and when someone or something might arrive to investigate this fortress going silent.

Podo reaches out and grasps the black stalactite.

Urlando withdraws his spear from the mysterious pool. Perplexed, he returns to the adjacent room with the cylindrical plinths and blocks to convey his findings.

"Does anyone have a way to take some of this silver liquid? A cup or something?"

Podo grasps the black ceiling column and pulls it towards him, gliding in the ceiling groove.

Urlando asks if anyone has a container to hold the mysterious silver liquid.

Does anything happen when he pulls it?
Seeing that it moves freely, Podo slides the black stalactite through the path of the groove to the end of the track over the central platform.

[Norjax]

Pulled by Podo, the dark metallic object slides out of the alcove and into the larger chamber, stopping above the central platform.

The stalactite is decorated with ribs, grooves, channels, short round stumps and indentations; all the same uniform black metallic color and finish.

Silvestri looks around sadly.

"With the vitality of this place gone it seems we will be able to do little more than scavenge. I don't know if the water was what helped create the vitality or used for something else. It came from below, but I've seen no way down."

Podo

Confused why Motter would have a sliding stalactite Podo looks at the rest of the group to see if they might have discerned something he hasn't. Frustrated that this room has not revealed more secrets how to end all the other towers he kicks the central platform (not hard enough to hurt myself, just so the platform knows I am not happy with it lol).

"I think you might be right. Does anything in here look useful or valuable?"

Having no insights into this room and not seeing anything to test that the others have not already tested, Kurot joins Anton in keeping watch in the center hallway.
