Tsek and Agnuez look at each other, somewhat bemused. What is "Approved interactive speech?" We speak Aekhu. You understand us. No need for approval!

They continue

The Captain Here is an outsider from the wreck of the Assemblage. He has few contacts for crew and his reputation is nothing, though having a ship helps. You two are locals, from this very district. But the number of ships crews is few these days. Most have found famous Captains to work for and have left. My contacts don't really extend into shipping.

So Contacts, The Yard Boards, I don't know. Maybe hire a specialist crew-finder? But the key thing is we need to leave within 28 days...less if we can.

Tsek starts with Then let us celebrate our agreements

and Agnuez chips in
Iekzellour, please note our financial commitments and all sign

She opens her computer...
Is that 18% after costs or 12% of gross?

Agnuez adds
And note that remaining crew are on stipend (guild rates plus 20%) plus completion bonus (10% pool, after costs, divided evenly).

Tsek calls for a bottle and glasses to celebrate and for luncheon

After lunch, we can start planning in earnest. Any questions for me?

Tell them as little as you can, but make it a lure. No detail, all colour. We are on the scent of a mystery beast. It smells of danger and sweat, like a wounded predator. The spoor is large. There will be risk, and work, it is certain, but it will be a grand adventure.

There is a knock at the door

Enter says Tsek after the screens are closed down

In comes a trolley, loaded with goodies. Pushing it is the recognisable form of Erogksu - Rradzoka's nephew.

He professionally lays out the spread and, with the barest acknowledgement, leaves - taking the trolley with him.

Iekzellour tries again: Is that 18% after costs or 12% of gross?

Yeelau offers " We tell them almost anything they want to hear. It has great promise for a big pay out. It wont take a long time to see a profit. You will be rewarded for your hard work. Once we have the NDA's signed, we tell them that its a search and recovery mission. When we are off planet and in open space, thats when we tell them the final details. I will agree to twelve percent, gross, if that helps?"

Denghez will nod. “I agree with Yeelau. Tell them as little as possible, warn them that it’s dangerous but rewarding. Once we’re in jump they can get a full briefing.”

The Captain notes
I have posted for a Gunner and for an Engineeer for the Kfaerggzeghzratawuerz. But no-one has heard of it so applications are slow. But I can pass on any extras if you are interested. Or you could put up your own ad.

And I'm sure your packs will know someone who is available.

The main problem is that you have no ship yet.

and Tsek suggests We could look on another world. Khouth is full of people who want passage out. Some will sell their families to go. But that depends on route. Do we want to go via Khouth or Ankirst? We definitely need to go from Talon-Akkip-Fel or Ikhaba-Oluk Dzas-Aerfor-Space-Khouth or Ankirst-Space-Serk. 8 Jumps. 8-16 weeks depending upon our schedule at each layover.

“Ideally we don’t want to enter Khouth system at all. If the mission goes according to plan,” He snorts. “We’ll be in and out without anyone on Khouth knowing we were there. How about Fel? It’s an advanced system with plenty of traffic.

The ship is J1 with collapsible tanks for double-hops. So from Aerfor it's space then Khouth or Space then Ankirst.

Rradzoka tries to remain professionally impassive on recognising his nephew, but the involuntary twitch of his tail betrays his pleasure at the meeting.

After looking at each of his companions, he replies to Iekzallour:

I think 12% gross is safer. If I worry about costs, I may cut corners, which makes the job harder, always.

Rradzoka:

Thank you, Captain Raekrroz , I will be happy to interview any crew you pass on.

Of course, my first hope is the pack. Second the Navy. Ex-Navy, that is.

The route, second order. We need a crew before we need a course.

Iekzellour produces the final contract

12% Gross. Affix confirmation and we have a venture.

And with those confirmations the pact is sealed and your are Officers of the Rrilzaerrolggziegkueng, Privateer, licensed to the UFA.

Agnuez looks pleased.
OK - Now I'll leave you guys to plan how you are going to makes us all rich. The account will be registered so that any two of you will be able to draw funds under the ship's ID. You have MCr1 for supplies and the first month's pay for your crew. Tsek is my agent and is responsible for the money. He says you won't just run off with it. He's right - it wont be "Just" if you do, so don't.

I'll be back in a week for a briefing and to see how the recruitment is progressing. Give me a list of skills required - and if I come across anyone who might have the skills you want I'll send them your way. But don't take that as a requirement to hire them! I'll just be trying to help - but its not my area of expertise.

And with that he gathers up Iekzellour and heads off, taking his guards with him from the outer room - and leaving the food and drinks.

So - Tomorrow, I bring the video from by earlier look about. says Tsek. Now we eat, drink and start looking for volunteers for our enterprise.

Tsek thinks this is a great idea

The idea of a bar crawl is always enticing. Do you know of some good ones Captain Rradzoka?

Rradzoka signs confidently and relaxes.

Run off? For only a million? Not the reputation I want.

I will send a list, yes, but the skills are those every ship needs, plus some.

He begins to compose an impromptu list, counting off on his fingers as he goes:

Engineers. Specialists in all drives, electrics, Life Support. Sensor operators. Computer experts, engineer and programmer, we might have to hard reboot this ship. Gunners. Ex-Marines would be good. Some salvage guys, with EVA experience. Belters perhaps?

Oh, I think I can draw up an itinerary. Start off with a couple of Navy hangouts, move on to Corsair? It worked for me.

Might be an idea to try a casino I know. A losing streak at the table can be lucky for us.

Does anyone know where the merchants drink? Or the Belters?
