Bjarri's Feast

Arngeir nods at the Valkhar

"My Valkhar, and my father, decided I would be a better clansman, and priest, if I saw more of the world. So here I am in the south lands and I must must admit I'm still not used to the warm weather. As for today, well as the feast approached it was my duty to seek out my closest kinsmen."

[Rex]

Raoa, "Welcome Arngeir, it shall be a feast to remember, not just a chance traveler but a servant of Sarajin as well. A good omen for sure. Lets sit down and enjoy some real ivinian mead."

[shaidar]

Arngeir

"That will be most welcome. The drink here in the southlands... well you make do with what you can find. Your clan house is most impressive, a fine home."

[Rex]

Roar

"Thank you, Kjal is very generous. He prefers to be called Kjal but the locals will only refer to him as The Baron. He seems not to care much but it is hard to get them to change their ways. You will meet him later for sure, he loves the feast."

Arngeir

"It will be an honour to meet the Kjal. I have noticed the southlanders are quite set in their ways and beliefs, although I have met a small few worth notice. It must be a challenge for your clan."

Roar

"It is interesting at times and we have only managed to convert a handful of the Chybisians to our faith but we are on a very important trade route and see many travelers. Some are followers of Sarajin and we can meet their needs and act as a source of news and information for them. Kjal being here has also brought positive views about our faith and more acceptance the longer we remain. It is difficult but important work."

[shaidar]

Arngeir

"It is very important work, and it is good to hear of progress." he nods towards the entrance "Your son seems like a fine lad. Have you been blessed with a large family, valkhar?"

[Rex]

Roar

"I have, I have 2 wives. Two sons and 3 daughters. Have you any wives?"

[shaidar]

Arngeir

"A fine family. I have no wives, or children... that I know of. There will be time for a family when my travelling is over...or perhaps I shall find one on my journey. Who knows what the future brings."

[Rex]

Roar

"A very true statement. I think it would benifit both of us if we could exchange information we have learned when you come through. Having some eyes and hears out there that you trust can be invaluable in my experience."

Arngeir nods at Roar

"A wise and prudent arrangement, for both of us, valkhar, and our people and the church in the south lands."

The day quickly proceeds, with much drinking. As evening approaches everyone moves to the castle, where the feast will take place. You meet Roar and all his family throughout the day and at the castle you meet the Baron and his only surviving wife Elsbeth and his bodyguard Gaal. Later you meet the barons eldest son Bjan and his 2 wives, Alaeta (currently with child) and Melias (only about 20 years old and walks with a cane). A nurse maid is holding Melias' twin 1 year old daughters. Bjan's two sons are also back for the festival, you learned they are fostered with another baron.

Arngeir tries to be at his most gracious for his hosts, both the clan leader and baron's families.

While he is going to enjoy himself, he is going to try and keep his alcoholism under control, so here are a couple of willpower rolls:

A pile of furs in someones hall is traditional among Ivinians for guests.

Arngeir smiles "I have been lucky, and luck is always best shared with friends, new and old."

Kjal, "You will spend your nights here, followers of Sarajin are always welcome to a pile of furs in my hall. Your horse is welcome with my ostler."

Arngier bows his head to the baron

"I am honoured by your offer. My mount is settled at the The Brace of Coneys. I wasn't sure of the situation and it seemed a good establishment."

Kjal

"The best inn in town, my friend. I will settle up with Semwis, he is a good man. You must tell us of your luck one of these nights."

[shaidar]

Arngeir

"It is a tale I would not have guessed before I left home. I now call a green demon a good friend and have travelled with Sindarin and Khuzdul. I am glad there is time to tell it properly."

[Rex]

Kjal

"It sounds interesting indeed. I must hear it one of these nights."

[Rex]

Two days later a traveler arrives asking about Bjarri's feast. It seems he was delayed on the road and didn't make it for the start of the festival. The young boy brings him to Roar and Arngeir.

"This is Murgar the Seer."

Arngeir raises an eyebrow

"A seer? I am Arngeir Orlygsson, travelling priest of Sarajin. This is Roar Baalson, the Valkhar of this clan and a most excellent host for the celebration. It is good that you made it here."
