Re: Chapter 1 - In Without Knocking
To use the thrown knife again, Sebastian will need a successful Luck roll. With a success, the knife that nicked Cowboy 3 is caught in his clothing. It would take a one-second Shootout Turn and a successful Coordination check to grab it and retrieve it from a drunken but actively hipshooting cowboy.
Sebastian still has his empty pistol in one hand. He can brawl with it, or roll for the knife fighting attack, but not both during this one-second turn.

Sebastian will brawl with the pistol instead then.
Re: Chapter 1 - In Without Knocking
Bump. Need Andreas's and Charley's actions, then we can proceed. Reminder that the PCs act first this one-second shootout round.

am I dead yet?
Are we waiting on attack rolls and decisions to shoot or watch a bit more?

Re: Chapter 1 - In Without Knocking
Was waiting for Andreas's action. But so far he's only observed and not shot, so we'll assume he does that this turn.
Need Sebastian's brawl attack rolls.
FYI, we're at Phase 6 (the last phase) of Shootout Turn 6. It's been almost 66 seconds since the cowboys rode into the saloon.

Re: Chapter 1 - In Without Knocking
Sebastian lands a glancing blow on Cowboy 3 (2 damage, target +1 bonus for next action) The man doesn't go down.
Wounded Cowboy 2 pulls his pistol's trigger on Sebastian but the hammer falls on a spent cartridge.
Charlie can shoot at wounded Cowboy 2 at +0 for short range (who dry fired). Or at 3 (who shot), but at -2 for target obscured. Please roll the shot. Here's a macro.
Shot [1d20] Location [1d20] Severity [1d6]
Andreas observes. Hoffman hasn't returned to sight after crouching behind the bar.

Sebastian
Not sure where we are in the turn or if waiting on an action from an NPC. Once initiative is drawn for the next round, Sebastian will keep brawling if the cowboys keep shooting. If we have initiative and they are halting further aggression, I will back down too and let others enforce the peace.
If you need another action roll, here it is:
Sebastian: brawl vs 18 Co-or [1d20]=2 wound location [1d20]=10 [1d6]=5

Sebastian
I rolled this for my next action. With Cowboy 3 intent on shooting, I will continue to brawl him with my unloaded pistol.
Sebastian: brawl vs 18 Co-or [1d20]=2 wound location [1d20]=10 [1d6]=5
did Cowboy 3 reload? What type of shot is he doing?

Re: Chapter 1 - In Without Knocking
No, he didn't reload. That would take one combat turn per shell, I think. In the initiative round, characters only announce general actions. They don't specify the type of shot. That happens when they actually do the shot.Bluetongue wrote: ↑Mon Sep 26, 2022 1:52 am Sebastian

Re: Chapter 1 - In Without Knocking
Sorry, this is a shootout turn, so characters declare actions according to Initiative, but actions happen accord the phase. Cowboy 2 hipshoots at Sebastian twice before Sebastian's brawl attack.
Sebastian is off balance from his glancing blow pistol blow to the cowboy. The man responds by blindly squeezing his pistol's trigger at point blank range, twice in a second. The first shot goes goes between Sebastian's arm and chest. The second doesn't happen-- the hammer falls on a spent cartridge or a dud.
Cowboy 3 +4 point blank, -1 light wound, -2 drunk, +1 from last turn's brawling glancing blow = +2. Hipshot, 1/4 Coordination
Shot [1d20]=10 Location [1d20]=9 Severity [1d6]=6 Miss.
Shot [1d20]=5 Location [1d20]=17 Severity [1d6]=5 Miss.
Sebastian delivers an uppercut to the cowboy's chin with hammer and butt of his pistol. His head rocks back, but he remains standing.
3 damage, -2 for cowboy to hit.
Sebastian's wounded and bloody original opponent looks and his empty pistol and drops to the floor. Cowboy 2 moves (evades).
The men to Sebastian's right each run a yard, getting closer to him and more toward his rear. The drunken cowboys both have pistols drawn.Cowboys 4 and 5.
The young cowboy near the door runs toward the dead cowboys lying behind Sebastian. Cowboy 8 (Dan Rucker)
From behind the overturned table, Jonathan Doos his yell, “...ONE. PUT DOWN YOUR PIS...”. It's been interrupted by the ear-splitting bark of three .44 caliber pistol shots since he started it.
Andreas holds his pistol, watches, and glances toward the bar.
Charlie takes his rifle butt down from his shoulder and watches.
The cow horses move to the area of the bar farthest from the shooting bottom left corner area on the map. They mill around, snort, and shake manes and tails. But the strongest, smartest, and bravest of this little group of the heard doesn't bolt. He observes, turns around with the others, goes to another position, and stops and observes again.
