CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Denslow replies, They have helped with our safety and guided us. I say we help them find more glowing rocks. If nothing else, it will plant a seed in them of our friendship that may grow into a mighty tree. Planting seeds is always worthwhile.

Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
While the group is discussing our next plans, Anton takes some time to show our new allies how he used the herdivocs whip to protect against the energy monsters electric blast. "If you can each outfit yourself with one of these you will gain some defense against those creatures".
Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Option 3 has won. I assume in a northern direction, allowing the option of the rail tunnels or Hagalton.
Please post any character reactions to this course of action and I will follow suit.

Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Well, it seems we have a general course of action, says Denslow. Let’s head northerly. If we stop by the tunnels, then we can collect things to trade or sell once we get back to town.
Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Aye, says Max. I wonder if I can connect with UKUR if those tunnels are what I suspect they are from your descriptions. I would have liked to have connected with the Knights but seeing as they would be hostile to some of us, there is good reason to avoid them.
Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Silvestri
"It is a shame, but I fear the Knights would reject most of our group. There is still of lot I want to learn from those tunnels and those strange rooms we found. Who knows what we might gain, both in knowledge and in worth, if we finally reach one of those terminus areas. Although we might need to fight our way there as most ways were blocked or had become home to some rather aggressive creatures."

"In times of trouble, tunnels are the path to safety," Urlando says. "This is the way," the other head sagely adds.
"Wherever we go, we need more rest.

Excited at the possibility of returning underground, Podo quickly readies his belongings.
"Yes you can always find things underground. Things are getting lost or buried. And yes being underground should be much safer."

Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Anton checks the integrity of his suit, tightening various buckles and securing his tools in their belt loops and pockets.
"Underneath intrigues me. I... we... used to make our home in the Earth as well."
Any response from Sha'oul or Jan'ort regarding how to use the herdivocs whip to protect against the pacman ghosts?

Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 257D/81 (Evening)
It has been decided.
You are to head north, skirting the domain of the Ki-Ro-Tab Knights (purple hexes) and aiming for the region where you explored the rail tunnels, before returning to Hagalton.
Sha’oul and Jan’ort accept Urlando’s and Denslow’s offer of help collecting more glow rocks. They have a few more days before their Time of Crossing arrives. The nomads listen to Anton explain how a salvaged whip from a herdivoc can be used to protect oneself from the electrical minders. They thank the fungal corpse for the useful knowledge.
Podo is excited for the opportunity to explore a subterranean locale as is Max, who hopes to commune with the entity UKUR.
OOC: The journey will take almost two weeks (13 days). You heal an average of 10hp per day.
At the end of the day’s travel and the onset of night, a familiar pulsing red glow illuminates the sky from an unseen location to the east.

OOC: Next update is Sunday.

Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Denslow searches for glow rocks. I wonder if we will ever discover what happened to Hiona and the rest of that crew, he muses. Were we bamboozled with that purple flash that took us across the realm? Will he be waiting for us back in Hagelton? If so, I'd want a word or two. Yes, we accomplished nothing for which he hired us, but we were set wrong from the start.

Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Urlando gamely follows directions from Sha'oul and Jan'ort in how to search for the glow rocks.
"Anton", he asks, "Do you have any more of those whips from the herdivoc-things?"

Kurot also helps search for glow rocks.
He also asks if it might be helpful, given his speed and possession of a seeing-glass, if he ran ahead of the group every day to scout out what's ahead—or whether it would just mean that if he ran into trouble he couldn't run away from, he'd be dangerously alone.

Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 258-259D/81 (Evening)
A small sack of glow rocks is collected easily under a dark sky. The red glow to the east does not bring danger, so all get a good night’s rest.
During breakfast, Denslow thinks back to when they first entered Motter’s Territory and the purple flash separated them from their new comrades. Why did that happen? Where did THEY end up? Why hasn’t anything similar happened again? Perhaps it only occurs when entering the region and not within or, hopefully, while exiting.
Urlando asks if any additional whips were salvaged from the destroyed Herdivocs. Alas, the once orbital symbiote recovered only one of the whip appendages.
Kurot’s offers to post recon, but receives no immediate response…
After two more days journey, two large sacks of glow rocks are gathered. The onset of night reveals another familiar red glow to the east. If it’s another tower, Motter has a clear presence bordering the Knight’s realm.
Sha’oul and Jan’ort indicate the next dawn will bring the Phase of the Crossing and they will return to their world.

OOC: Next update is Wednesday.

Podo
"What is this flash you are referring to Denslow? You had other companions that disappeared? Looking at the lights more tentatively, Podo hopes he doesn't disappear.
Podo is also keeping a lookout to the East. "So close the knight's realm, we should probably keep an eye out for patrols. We might be able to gauge any further negotiations by that encounter."

I'm sorry, only salvaged one. Maybe we can find more of them or something else that can be used in the same way?
We should steer clear of that tower to the east.
Re: CHAPTER 12d: Across Motter's Realm
You don't remember the great flash of light? We were walking along the... Denslow stops and rubs beneath his mouth with a twig, not unlike someone stroking his chin. Oh right, you've joined us after.... Let us start from the beginning. We were hired in Hagelton, a place far from here that we called "home" (or at least "home base"), to find and try to make diplomatic entreaties with the Knights. We travelled with another party to what is called the veil. I believe that was the edge of Motter's realm, tho I cannot say for sure.
We made our way through and there was a great flash of light and we were suddenly... elsewhere. Still here in the wastes and somewhere in Motter's realm. It wasn't soon after that that we were engaged with the mechanical creatures of Motter's realm and eventually came across you and some others, losing good friends in the process.
While we were hired to make contact and establish relations with the Knights, it seems they would be as hostile as Motter's folk. Which is why I concur that we head back towards home. I feel we are more scavengers than diplomats.
