Turn 6 - Map of where Hoffmans and cowboys will be after their stated actions. PCs are up for actions. This is Combat Turn, PCs can make 2 Brawl/Grapple attacks or two Careful shots. Movement comes after hand-to-hand and shooting.

Could I get two Coordination rolls for Doos? Cowboy 1 has a knife, Doos needs Coordination successes to attack.

Doos his opponent in a hard arm lock. He brings the edge of his fist down on the back of the cowboy's head and knocks him out cold.

PCs are up to state their actions for this turn. We're going into Shootout Turn time scale (one second) in Turn 7. Because guns will be drawn, hammers will be pulled back, and likely, triggers will be squeezed, there will likely be the smell of gunpowder smoke in Hoffman's. [/color=#000080]

This turn we're in a Shootout Turn (1 second long). After everyone has stated their actions, we have to determine the order of the shots. Only one shot per shootout turn. We'll keep Sebastian's rolls for future use.

In a shootout turn, characters can either shoot or move. They can't do both. Movement rates: running, 4 yds; evading, 2 yds.

Feel free to revise your action if you'd like, now that we've clarified that this isn't a 6-second Combat Turn.

I made an error in the cowboys stated actions. I don't believe the rules allow brawl/grapple actions in a Shootout Turn. 6 and 7 will draw and shoot instead, it's the only option they have other than moving away or doing nothing. Feel free to revise your PC's action if you'd like. Sebastian was already going to shoot 6, so it may not make much difference.

A character's choice of actions is quite a
bit more restricted during a shootout turn
than it is during a combat turn, when a character
can do most anything. Chances are that,
during a shootout turn, lead will be flying so
thick that no character with any concern for
his life will do anything other than shoot or
dive for cover. (p.33)


We'll give players another day to post, then resolve the fight tomorrow.

Paladin - Turn 7

Well the horse was out of the barn now, and it wasn’t the cowboys who did it. Paladin shook his head, surprised that the man took the first shot against the cowboy (#5) who was only using his gun for a club. These days too many where disregarding the codes of the West.

Now another’s pistol followed suit, and probably others. Paladin knew what was coming next - carnage from a dozen guns going off at each other, point blank mayhem, missed shots hitting friends, and mens lives ended because of itchy trigger fingers.

Paladin walked out of the saloon and lit a cigarette.

“Preacher, get ready to preside over some funerals,” he said to the priest on the porch.

I guess Sebastian figures if you reach for your gun then you are going to use it, so feels pretty justified in shooting back to defend himself.

Turn 7 - Shootout Turn 1 (one second). 37th second of the fight.
Hoffman looks to his wife and son at the kitchen door and yells, Geh in die küche! He begins to duck behind the bar. The woman and boy begin getting out of the doorway.

Count 0
Cowboy 7 (near Sebastian) successfully fastdraws his pistol.

Count 1
Doos starts running (Evading) to get behind the nearby overturned table. He will reach it after the last count (Count 6).

Count 2
Sebastian shoots Cowboy 6 with a hipshot. Please roll Location and Severity.
Cowboy 7 hipshoots at Sebastian (if he's still alive after Sebastian's first of three hipshots this turn).

Please also roll for Sebastian's Misfire (natural 20) for the second shot, and Location and Severity for the third shot.

It took me a while to get to it, but all of the characters' actions for this shootout turn have been plotted. We can proceed pretty quickly now.
