He rests and tries psychometry on the key:

Algrim helps with a watch duty and the night passes uneventfully.

In the morning the caravan gets loaded up and starts moving south once again.

Is there anywhere in particular that the 3 of you would like to be during the day when the caravan is moving?

Reminder, 4 pack mules and 4 mule drawn carts.

Algrim is more than happy to help guard whatever needs guarding as the caravan moves along.

Idril stays in the cook cart, taking care of finishing touches to preserve the deer and boar meat, and folding some dough to make meat pastries for this evening. If she sees promising greens along the side of the road, she'll hop down and gather an armful before running back to the cart.

The next 3 days pass uneventful. Initially covering the same ground you had before retreating to the ruins. The meat supplied by Algrim and the skill of Idril kept everybody better fed then usual and Arngeir's stories of Sarajin and his divine servants seemed to keep everyone in good spirits.

In the morning it is day 5 for the injured guard.
S3 TX H3 vs 44 [1d100]=61 G4 TH H5 vs 70 [1d100]=36
His serious injury to the chest is unchanged (S3 TX H3).
His grievous injury to the thigh is noticeably improved (S3 TH H5).

The guardsman is noticeably more talkative riding on the cart. His name is Jare and he has been very thankful to both Idril and Arngeir after learning that you saved his life and equally thankful to Algrim for the fresh venison and boar, a rarity for a humble guardsman on the trail.

Another day is passing by traveling through the wilderness when the teamster in the leas calls a halt. "Something has been through here recently. Someone may want to take a look at this."

Moving up you see that it appears something has been dragged onto the trail and down it the way you are going and out of sight. Whatever it was it was clearly large and heavy. traces of fresh blood and occasional hair can be seen as well as some strange foot prints no one is sure of.

Actions and a skill roll please.

Arngier draws his axe, warily, and takes in the scene (he'll move forward if he needs to)

"Hmmm. Big beastie go on hunt?"

No tracking, or similar roll, so I'm just going to roll awareness (55%)

Algrim has no idea what might have done this.

Arngier isn't sure what it is but the closest thing he can think of would be a bear, but with bigger claws. A big bear, at least the size of a Brown Bear, maybe as large as a Snow Bear.

Idril has a feeling she knows what it is. An Ivashu commonly called the Horned Bruin, a Arthynnd. Sort of a cross between a big bear, stag and bird with weird leather like plates covering parts of its body. They are about as smart as a bear and incapable of speaking or understanding Ivashi. But unfortunately even more aggressive then a bear and a true carnivore.

Idril's description.

Idril smiles beatifically, the first unreserved smile her companions will have seen on her face. "It is a holy child of Ilvir! An Arthynnd. Great is its strength, and ferocious is its appetite." She cocks an eyebrow at Algrim. "Save your barbs for deer and boar, and allow this one to go about its divine destiny."

Arngeir

At the mention of Ilvir, he scowls and spits on the ground. He seems about to say something, but stops, taking in Idril's tone and says instead "It attacks then beasties divine destiny is die."

Algrim not even drawing his weapons stands there admiring the creature "I had no intention of hunting this one. This creature I admire and respect. I respect most wildlife but in some cases food is food and this one ain't food in me mind."

The caravan decides to stick to the trail and hope to avoid the Ivashu. Everyone is extra alert and obviously a little on edge as they continue on their way. The rest of the day goes without incident and the caravan makes camp once again.

Talking by the campfire Arngeir tells the story of Baild and Onar. Algrim perks up, and confirms that Onar's clan of Kuhrdin is the clan of the Low Guard. They are one of the 2 Warrior clans of the Khuzdul. Most who know of such things consider the 2 clans to be the finest warriors in the world. The Low Guard are the larger clan, mostly either medium or heavy foot depending on how you view such things. Sax wonders some things aloud.

If the Dwarves gave Baild the key, they must have told him where the outpost was?
For what purpose?
It seems if he hid the key at the ruins, the outpost might be nearby or at least on the trail?

Algrim adds that the Khuzdul outposts were mostly before any or many at least humans had settled on Harn. Most of the current major roads and trails follow older Khuzdul trails. So many of the abandoned outposts are at least near if not on trails such as the one they currently follow. If so the outpost would be very valuable indeed if someone were to re-open it, although holding it in potentially hostile territory would be difficult.

Also, a bit of setting info to help. We know Baild was a wandering master knight of Larani, in D&D terms he was most likely a Paladin.

I will give you a chance to ask questions and/or role play if you want and then move it along some more.
