No problem, all good.

How long is this journey?
I did reread to try and find it, but failed.

Let's say it has been estimated as a week or so? And let's also say that the last post took place on March 20, four days into the journey.
Re: Secure Comms 001: OOC Chatter, Prattle, Gossip, and Blather
For Advantage, there's always this:
Code: Select all
[_3d6k2]
For Disadvantage, however, you can't automate the selection of the lowest two, as far as I know.
Code: Select all
[_3d6]
Re: Secure Comms 001: OOC Chatter, Prattle, Gossip, and Blather
Those work too.
Re: Secure Comms 001: OOC Chatter, Prattle, Gossip, and Blather
As we're all trying to find our mutual comfort level with when to apply advantage, I thought I'd weigh in on a couple recent examples. I appreciate that people have been presenting the roles in a way that makes it possible for me to take or leave the advantaged results.
Do these rulings seem fair and consistent?
Here, I'd say that if you had taken Intimidation as one of your skills, you could certainly flavor it as being based on Furie's reputation. As it is, however, allowing Furie's rep to be worth advantage in Intimidation would be the equivalent of giving you a fifth skill slot. So I'd judge that most people haven't heard of Furie. However, if you ran into someone who had encountered folks from Furie before and who had previously been terrified by them, that you could get a leg up on intimidating them.Rex wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 4:48 pm Kallina
Kallina steps in and shoves her way to Jeeves. "You do know that I am a Furie right? Have you heard what we do to idiots who piss us off?"
Intimidate [2d6]=11 with advantage [1d6]=6
I don't think the advantage matters with that roll, but was thinking she might get it for being from Furie. If she does get advantage it would be a 12 since the only combo that makes 11 is 5 and 6. Next time I will use the _2d6.
This is, I think, a situation where your extraordinary ability allows you to do something that another character wouldn't be able to do, rather than giving you advantage on something everyone can do.Lignacious wrote: ↑Tue May 24, 2022 7:59 pm Chip
As Kallina steps forward and menaces them, Chip uses his telekinesis to subtly wrap the linens around the harassers' legs so that if they move or shift weight they may trip

I am good with them, I figured it was a long shot and have no issue with how it played out.
Re: Secure Comms 001: OOC Chatter, Prattle, Gossip, and Blather
Who needs advantage when you're rolling elevens?
Re: Secure Comms 001: OOC Chatter, Prattle, Gossip, and Blather
Very true, but that wont last long.
Re: Secure Comms 001: OOC Chatter, Prattle, Gossip, and Blather
Sounds good.
I think in the future I'm just going to roll using the following macro, then the dis/advantage can be taken into account, or not:
Roll: [_2d6]=(6+4)=10, dis/advantage[1d6]=3

Re: Secure Comms 001: OOC Chatter, Prattle, Gossip, and Blather
That is a good method. I don't even care if you tell us if you gave us the advantage or applied the disadvantage. But that is probably just me.
Re: Secure Comms 001: OOC Chatter, Prattle, Gossip, and Blather
That is an elegant solution!shaidar wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 4:30 am Sounds good.

Yes, this all seems sensible. I'm sure we'll get the feel for the advantage convention soon enough. And at the risk of buttering up the GM, the narrative descriptions have been so good I've been not so concerned with them rolls!Pulpatoon wrote: ↑Wed May 25, 2022 2:11 am As we're all trying to find our mutual comfort level with when to apply advantage, I thought I'd weigh in on a couple recent examples.
