Re: Asides and Public Discussion about the game (Part 1)
So, if I've got this right you are going looking for a new computer and then you are going to unplug the old one from the ship!
As a plan, you can either take Assana's contact or start a "Broker" search for a appropriate source (or both). Both Nalani and Noor have the Broker skill in equal measure (at +3).
Depending upon your risk appetite, you can look for a partial replacement or full replacement of the cores. Full replacement is notionally Cr160,000 new. You can go for second-hand (legal or dubious). You will also need to consider which parts of the software you need to replace.
The good news is that the computer hardware is mostly centralised.
The bad news is that there are a number of items about the ship that might harbour a virus if it were that way inclined - local controllers exist for almost everything.
Think of it as a potential rat-hunt!
Assana, Maggie, Nalani and Indrani all have the expertise to do a computer replacement...Indrani and Assana being the best at it (+3 including Skill and INT DMs). The tricky bit will be if the virus triggers the anti-hijack protocols...Nalani has been acting suspiciously, disconnecting important stuff! Still, Assana does have a good hacking suite on her.

I think the best plan is to first use Assana's suggested contacts, and then look for off-the-shelf used equipment, and new as a last resort. Any way we go, the existing computer needs to be in pieces on the cargo bay deck before Indrani will agree to move the ship.

Apologies, I meant to post, but I've been organising for a sudden trip to visit a sick relative.
I'll try to reply, but I'm going to be a mix of distracted and offline for a few more days.
Upside, a couple of long train journeys. Perhaps I'll get some writing done?

what does the figure look like? wearing what? scanning the crowd for someone who looks similarThe camera at the ship is showing that the collection of carts is now about 8 and they are blocked in by a police vehicle and an ambulance. At some point, the outer airlock door to the ship has opened. She has to rewind to catch the moment when a person exits - walking quietly from the ship and, shortly thereafter, out of shot.

The figure looks remarkably like Hebden Cull, wearing a ship-suit in light grey. He is (on closer inspection) carrying something under one arm. He's definitely not in the crowd. Exiting out of shot would put him (initially) having walked out via the route by which you arrived back!cybersavant wrote: ↑Thu Apr 07, 2022 9:11 amwhat does the figure look like? wearing what? scanning the crowd for someone who looks similarThe camera at the ship is showing that the collection of carts is now about 8 and they are blocked in by a police vehicle and an ambulance. Sorry for my lack of posting, I’ve not been able to concentrate on things for a few days.
I’ll try to catch up on what I’ve missed and start posting tomorrow.

No problem. REAL LIFE can do that when it comes in CAPITALS.The Bindoner wrote: ↑Sun Apr 10, 2022 9:18 pm Sorry for my lack of posting, I’ve not been able to concentrate on things for a few days.

Re: Asides and Public Discussion about the game (Part 1)
It is certainly in CAPITALS.
My sister died tonight, so I’m afraid I won’t be contributing much for a couple of days.
NPC my character as needed until I get back. Nālani wants to find the intruder (but has little hope of doing so). The port security is obviously "in on it" and should be regarded as hostile.

Re: Asides and Public Discussion about the game (Part 1)
OK - So where do you guys want to go now?
- You have got the ship working (ok, it's marginal - but it is physically working)
- You have not yet tried to remove the inserted software in the ships computer, but have reconnoitred it a bit. (Or you could go with just binning it and buying a new one)
- You have got a potential cargo and commission from Charlie Maputo (which has been ignored so far, with reason)
- You have Hebden's Stash (minus the items he's stolen back)
- Noor seems to be suspected of knowing something as a result of her Mother's role
- You have been attacked, searched, broken in to and appear to be on a kill list
