Since it appears nobody is able to climb back up, Euripides decides to head down and join the others. Holding the torch high, he slides down the ramp, doing his best to keep the torch out of the water.
On November 2nd I will be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Drest stops moving once he feels contact below the dark surface. Akhilleus starts swimming forward while Xenos swims back towards the stairway. Drest feels the tentacle hit his foot again, this time wrapping around his ankle and yanking the scout violently under the surface of the water. (give me a test of Con with your action post, please)
Euripides holds his torch up higher and releases his grip on the stairway, sliding down the remainder of the ramp and plopping into the water, extinguishing the light source immediately. However, as soon as the Atlantean hits the water, a dull blue aura begins to glow from somewhere below, illuminating the entire chamber, above and below the waterline.
Akhilleus now sees what looks like massive steps leading out of the water several yards in front of his position. Xenos sees Euripides feet and ass almost sliding into him as he splashes into the huge flooded chamber. Looking down into the water, they see Drest being pulled deeper into the vast depths below them.
Having grown up in the desert Xenos is not all all at home in this watery situation.
Seeing Drest being dragged down, he comes to the conclusion that the tactless scout could be useful in surviving this complex, so he tries to dive down and grab him.
"Hey! Here are some steps and... Damn it, Drest!" The warrior swimms back to where the party's scout is. In case he makes it on time, he will clumsily slash one of the tentacles.
With his torch getting wet and going out, there is no reason for Euripides to hold it any longer. Dropping the torch in the water, he draws his sword and swims after whatever is trying to drag Drest away.

The three remaining party members race to save their scout, but all are too slow in the water to retrieve their friend. All except for Euripides that is, who is now in his elemental heritage. The Atlantean dives downward, swimming frantically to catch up to the underwater monster. He slashes the trailing tentacle with his blade, severing it completely and saving Drest from a watery death.
When he gets the groggy Pict back to the surface with the others, the man is barely conscious, puking up gouts of swallowed water from the unpleasant ordeal. As they are about to swim for the steps, they see the monster below them coming back up for another try at breakfast.

The ghostly figure of Valkrina floats up over the water as the chaos roils below her. Euripides shouts for the others to climb the steps and exit the water, but their dangerous treading bloodlust prevails.
This time several tentacles shoot up from the depths, reaching for each figure remaining in the murk. All but Drest are able to defend themselves from being grasped, but as they fight off their threat, the scout is yanked back below the surface for a second time. (another Test of Con from Drest, please)
As Euripides exits the water, the glowing light diminishes. Anyone remaining in the fight will need to either defend themselves against the tentacle trying to wrangle them, or try to aid their drowning comrade.
Knowing that he will fare better than his companions if dragged underwater, Euripides ignores the tentacle in his face and attempts to hack away at the one grabbing Drest.

Akhilleus and Xenos realize just how difficult it is to fight with swords underwater, their attacks doing little to stop the submerged monster. As their heavy armor becomes more and more saturated in the water, they slowly start to sink.
Remaining in the water, Euripides makes an unsuccessful attempt to free their friend as well. They watch Drest being pulled deeper below, now well out of range of their attacks unless an attempt to follow their Scout into the depths can be made.
The trailing tentacles disappear as well, no longer threatening any who remain in the water. Drest holds his breath and flails away with his sword, trying to free himself before he drowns. (Test of Con with your attack rolls please)
