Jakob

Jakob would know the stair location on an Imperial Patrol Corvette and would direct the AR driver to put him in the best position for a clean shot.

"Right, mortar rounds. Grab me a couple, someone. As soon as we clear the outside we're heading in. Unload the heavy weapons and then follow me inside. Driver, put us close in and hold steady," Jakob said as he made sure his rifle was charged. He switched to the command channel. "Good copy Kit, we are inbound and thirty seconds away. Freya, when I give the word, get small."

Jakob used his best armor sensors to locate and identify Freya and other SEMC assets. Since one person is pointing a gun at Freya and the other isn't stopping him, both are valid targets. Jakob will focus on the armed man and not worry overly much about collateral damage.

"Freya, now."

Not sure how far forward you want to go, but here's the initial plan.

"Driver, set down! Everyone, move." Jakob said as he went over the edge of the air raft and ran to put himself between Freya and the stairwell. He reloaded on the move and kept moving forward. Caxton and his riflemen will unload the heavy weapons for later use, and then follow Jakob to take the entry point.

"We have friendlies on board, check your targets before you waste them."

Freya

The call from Jacob causes Freya to drop to the ground as fast as local gravity will take her - she'll use her body to shield Killer, trying not to crush his injuries with her weight.

Jakob and Freya

Jakob's Air Raft sets down and the crew debus, Freya shields the wounded Killer with her body the merc on the stairs shouts "Oh, shiii..." and shoulders his weapon. He fires a burst that strikes Jakob in the dead centre of his breastplate. Jakob grunts with the impact but doesn't even break his stride until he's imposed himself between the enemy and Freya. He pushes the fire selector all the way forward and lights up his target. His first rounds strike under the target's ballistic plate and penetrate his CES. It's quite possible the shock of being gutshot has already taken the guy out but his brain just hasn't told him yet. When Jakob's next rounds shatter his femur gravity gives him a clue. He pitches forwards on the stairway dropping his upper body into the line of fire. A gout of blood from behind his shoulder marks the exit wound from massive trauma to his upper arm and shoulder. Quite literally shot to pieces his body pitches down the staircase and lands in an unnaturally articulated mess at the bottom.

The head of the other wise guy bounces and now rolls across the tarmac leaving a gory trail.

Florence worriedly calls "Miss Freya, ma'am, are you alright? I didn't know what to do... so I bumped him with the drone... I've lost visual feed".

Even if he was able to "walk off" the decapitation the other guy seems... rather unwell. Fortnuately he appears to have reduced the wear and tear on your recon drone by catching it neatly in the remains of his chest cavity. The drone's lost its rotors but still looks better than he does.

Johnny sticks his head out of the airlock and seems impressed but unsurprised by the carnage. On seeing Jakob he says "Glad to see you sir. Freddie sent me to get 'elp. Two of us woz no good for clearin' this wot wiv Killer down an' all. The crew are 'ardly cooperative. In fact they're a right pack of c... Wotcher, Miss Freya, ma'am!" Johnny drags a sullen man with a sore face dressed in shipboard fatigues with him. Whilst directing a menacing "Gertcha" at his prisoner Johnny cranes his neck and asks "Is cuddles wiv Miss Freya a new fing for the wounded, sir? I got mine wiv you on Inchin if you rember, sir. Just in case its backdated".

I'm not sure Killer will appreciate a change of call-sign to "Cuddles"!

Right - Lets get Killer in the back of the IFV and send him off to the Ambulance. We can talk about giving our IFVs something with less penetration later.

And with that she drags Driver off the floor and gets him to help move killer into the IFV. OK you two...get killer to the ambulance wait there until called.

To the Gunner Good man for not shooting - the overkill would have cooked Johnny rather badly! I'll buy you a beer when this is over.

And she replies to Florence
You did well Florence. The drone needs fixing but you certainly distracted him. You better get the reserve airborne quick though. You are definitely on my Beer list.

And finally she exits the IFV and, dragging the drone remains under the stair for later recovery and repair (maybe), moves over to follow Jacob's team into the airlock, from where she'll cover their backs!

I'll keep an eye on the outside from the airlock. And she gets her grav-drone sitting up on the top of the ship watching the top-hatches and the berm exits.

The battle computer will show (and Jess can likely see) there are still active enemy in and around the grav jet/helo berm [A7] at the NE, SW and NW positions (Gaughan and the IFV direct support just took out the SE trench positions). While these forces are still active (and you are aware that 4DC Recon are likely pinning the NW trenches) because you are highly mobile grav equipped lift infantry you aren't obliged to deal with them now and there is nothing they can do to prevent you disengaging or bringing them under IFV plasma fire from a distance at which their LAW can't effectively reply.

Prerna keys up on Alpha One's channel. "Good day, Alpha One, this is Major Nayar. I'm your designated escort for your arrival at Avastan Downport, or what's left of it."

Prerna sees "Alpha One" enter the tactical airspace above the starport. On approach a missile streaks towards it from the north east but the autocannon in its chin turret flashes and the missile is blotted from the sky. Prerna sees the craft is a familiar 20ton Gig which slows from frighteningly fast to under 100 kph as it passes low over the berm. Two suddenly visible falling objects resolve themselves into a shapely female form and the brutal bulk of a four armed headless robot. Both activate gravitic deceleration as they drop into the protection of the berm and the Gig zooms away.

Erica East removes her full face helmet to beam a warm smile at Prerna "Well, Major, they didn't tell me this DZ was going to be quite so... hot".

The robot activates its vocoder to rumble "Prerna recognised". Then adds "Caution: Warzone. Human Safety is a Priority" it then uses one of its giant paws to lift and lock into place what might be a shoulder mounted grenade launcher.

I presume Erica and her 'bot landed on top of the berm?
Also, does the IFV have a coaxial weapon?

Kit

Hearing the closeness of Jakob and seeing how big this area is and how slow these prisoners are...

Being unengaged in combat Kit is able to get a good tactical appreciation of the current position of his command and their reinforcements in the "Deliverance Berm". He soon sees Nuts arrive at the Hawkwind and lock into a firing stance with his PGMP covering the lower aspect of the trader and its air lock. Able and his team are now on the traders "roof" (there will be a Navy term for it). They appear to be fitting their breaching charge to the "glass nose" of the starship.

He sees a Gig fly overhead to drop a snow camo wearing female (your ally and liaison officer Erica East) and a very bulky robot into the berm. The two new arrivals are met by Prerna who has dismounted from her IFV and positioned her sharpshooters on the berm rim facing north. The presence of her (Reserve) IFV neatly compensates for the temporary absence of Kit's own direct fire support. [A note on Military Etiquette: Since Prerna's vehicle is now within Kit's tactical arena/command and is also an apparently untasked Regimental support asset then he is perfectly entitled to call on it to support him if he has a job for it].

Kit sees Jakob arrive and "resolve" the issue of the threat to Freya and the wounded Killer - Marine style. That really was some quite brutal shooting... and a recce drone spectacularly kamikazed itself into the other poor sod. Killer is loaded and "medevaced" - the IFV will return to station awaiting orders soonest (2 or 3 rounds there and back). The mortar section air raft lifts off and returns to the Viper's Nest berm.

From the sound of it the Aslan are still fighting hard out of his LOS on the outer face of the berm but the volume of autofire has definitely lessened. The G Carrier supporting them calls again on the command channel "Sir, I say again. I'm still conducting fire support for the Aslan. I'm conducting casevac but I've been hit. There's loads of RPGs and an auto launcher. It would have us pinned down but the Aslan are mad fekkers and charged it. Send support, over. Any SEMC unit acknowledge this channel. We need support over".

Re: Movement/Admin. Being high initiative troops you can elect to run at 100m per round (30secs) no more than twice (consecutively). From the below map link I reckon you are 100m and a bit (technical term) from Deliverance: https://www.unseenservant.us/forum/view ... 40#p593340
This neatly coincides with Jakob's one round flight time to keep you all in the same time frame - or put another way as Jakob lands (see IC action posts above) Kit and/or those he sent over arrive at Deliverance on foot (if that's where he wants to be). Alternatively Hawkind / Prerna's location is a little closer. The prisoners may cause some less efficient running but all will balance out over two rounds/one minute).

Jakob heard the call for help, but he had his own task. He could, however, lend a hand. "Kit, there's an auto grenade launcher and a heavy machine gun behind the deliverance. Plenty of ammo, but not good for where my team is headed."

Fully loaded, Jakob kicked the body parts off the stairs and went inside. "SEMC on the Deliverance, report."

I presume Erica and her 'bot landed on top of the berm?

No, they landed (and gravitically decelerated) inside it!

Churlish folk unaccepting of their place in the military hierarchy (see snipers) tend to shoot at you if you look like an officer / asset / REMF standing somewhere with a clear line of sight!

Also, does the IFV have a coaxial weapon?

Er... no. 4DC clearly cheaped out here... Danged bargain bucket AFVs! It is doably fixable(???) (that's just so bad I had to leave it) via:
a) basic welding - pintle mount any of the spare support weapons you have in stores onto the turret top
b) costs not so much - fit proper coax energy weapons (because there's no room for CPR ammo and people! ) Something like the tripod mounted "gatling" laser would be good for either or both types of mount or go for crew (skill) specific weapons (missiles/auto GLs?) if someone doesn't mind sitting on the (very limited) spare ammo.

Once they are reunited Erica looks at Prerna and says "I was, of course, referring to the Drop Zone's occupants. This level of "military heat" is nothing when I have to live up to being an honorary Colonel in the Sword Worlds military". She then drops her attempts at banter and says simply "I have missed you".

"Ma'am, Sniper One and Two deploying. Say 'ello to Miss east for us". Prerna's team break into their two sniper/spotter teams. Baker and Easy then split to crawl to supporting positions on the berm's rim. The IFV responds "All recieved, Ma'am. I'd like to set well back from those RPGs and enfilade those northern earthworks from over the berm taken by Team Domici or maybe better to go back out to the west. We're workin' too close in here an' way too close to cover for infantry".

Jakob immediately notes that this particular corvette is a variant type. The stairs access leads onboard via the interior of the vessel's stub wings/fuel tanks rather than the stern.

Fully loaded, Jakob kicked the body parts off the stairs and went inside. "SEMC on the Deliverance, report."

By way of response Jakob hears a downspire street whistle then "Come on up. Send someone left past the dead fekker to cover the roof hatch". Camp Freddie is at the T junction after the long entrance corridor that would have been literal murder to storm. On approach Jakob sees that he has been hit in the left arm and right leg and has hastily applied field dressing bound over both wound sites. Freddie reports "They're behind both iris valves up ahead of me. Johnny and I captured one of them coming down through the roof hatch and jammed it open. It seems that's the route they want. We just couldn't cover all the options with two of us and didn't expect a counter attack, sir".

Kit is over by the Deliverance and starts to tick through his list,

Kit hears that Prerna sending her sharp-shooters to the berm rim facing north and opens a channel. "From that position they will be able to engage the squad of hostiles that is north of here, but if you select the west wall they will be able to help the Aslan that are currently pinned down to the southwest and create a nasty cross-fire. The hostiles in the north will wait for them. While your IFV in the berm prepare to target any ships that someone gets the crazy idea to fire at us. They should not yet be considered secure."

Looking over to Deliverance, seeing that Camp Freddie sent Johnny out with the prisoner, "Ink, take that prisoner from Johnny and put them with the three others you have."

"Jakob, take your squad and Johnny and these explosives into the Deliverance, capture non-hostiles and KIA hostiles - no more injuries today. Camp Freddie in there by himself." he says tossing them a bomb.

Last and certainly not least, Kit runs some calculations in his head to see if the bomb he built is big enough to get through into the command center. If it is he will simply say "Good luck" to Able but if it note going to work then he will say "You need to breach through a doorway that glass is to strong for the bomb."

An SEMC squad deploy from their IFV

Erica's Gig takes post at the hover near the (south) road entrance to Kit's/Deliverance berm. It seems well positioned to cover above and below the parked starships and to defensively deploy its PD system against indirect fire dropping into the berm.

Erica takes post inside the berm with Prerna.

Prerna deploys a sniper team West to support the Aslan and one North to harass the as yet unengaged infantry positions there.

IFV (Team Nayar) takes post some 500m to the North West to enfilade the API positions to the North, keep an eye on the starships and avoid handheld AT fire.

Kit directs the action within his command area. After a moment's thought he satisfies himself that his breaching charges are sufficient to break through ship's hulls (or glassteel parts thereof) and iris valves (OOC: broad brush strokes gives the same value for them all. They're all effectively "ship's hull").

The Mortar Team's Air Raft returns back to its owners in the Viper's Nest berm.

IFV (Team Ghosal) ferries the wounded Killer to the same berm and RVs with the ambulance.

Jakob and Fire Team Caxton of Team Domici storm Deliverance.

Meanwhile Fire Team Dawson (Beau) of Team Domici maintains suppressing fire on API positions North of the Viper's Nest berm.

Freya drags the recovered drone under Deliverance and then takes post in the air lock with her personal drone acting as top cover/lookout.

Jess directs all of Battlegroup Henker (IFV and G Carrier) to re-deploy due West of Kit's/Deliverance berm to support the Aslan engaging the API infantry on the outside of the berm's Western slope.

Team Vitt appear to have gone to ground in the environs of the ISS base after destroying two helos.

The Kforuzeng pirate band are assaulting API positions on the outside of the Easternmost (Abyss & Nazareth) berm. They are benefitting from the considerable direct fire support of Raersthog (Revenge) their Aeogz class corsair.

4DC Mercs report they are on route from orbit while their Recon element maintain overwatch from berm A4.

With steepled fingers Frank observes all unfolding before him on his HQ's holo display aboard the McClellan transport "49".

Individual updates to follow based on "discoveries on arrival" for those transiting to new locations. For those already in situ please do "crack on" with posts in furtherance of current actions (if any).

"Caxton, you, Jolly, and Freddie hold here; you are rear guard," Jakob said as he knelt by Freddie. He poked and prodded, doing a quick triage medical eval. If Freddie needs to be evac'd Jakob will have Tango and Victor do that first. "Good job Freddie, now keep them off my tail while I go visit the bridge. Just so you know, Killer got some cuddle time with the WO. You might want to rethink where you get shot."

If I understand correctly, there is a hatch "up" that is jammed open but the ship defenders went forward through the iris valves? This assumes that is true. If not, just re-route Jakob to wherever he thinks the targets are.

When the rear guard is set and everyone is in place, Jakob will lead Tango and Victor forward. "The bridge first, sometimes they like to hole up there and assume we won't shoot them. They forget that this is a starship fix-it site, so don't be too sparing on the ammo."
