Urlando
The ratman, understanding little of this advanced technology, offers to help Silvesti dig. Tell me where to burrow, man, he offers.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
'What is pulling the rope into the dirt? Quicksand? Something else?" Anton asks nervously.
"Be careful down there, friends!"

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Podo keeps a rope secured around his waist and settles into a needed rest. Being a light sleeper, he can regain consciousness at a moment’s notice.
Saiph listens to the activities below while commenting to Denslow about a possible return of the avians. Anton cautions his companions about potential pitfalls in the chamber.
Max descends into the depths and joins the explorers.
Silvestri and Urlando discuss digging into the floor to discover where the rope connects. Urlando volunteers and grasps the rope as he excavates with his free hand. The rat-mutant burrows nearly a foot before discovering the rope ends sealed into a metal knob. This protrusion is part of a large, horizontal plate that continues under the soil.

Silvestri looks at Urlando.
"Do you fancy helping me check around the edges of the floor for a gap in this plate?"

Gam’A Zone, Motter’s Realm 352D/81 (Late Afternoon)
Silvestri, Max and Urlando dig, move and sift through the dirt looking for an opening or seam to a door. Podo’s resting bulk impedes their progress, but they manage. After about a half hour, the trio is unable to find any portals but manage to collect some objects that were buried in the foot-deep soil:

After about a half hour, the trio is unable to find any portals but manage to collect some objects that were buried in the foot-deep soil:
A squat metal cylinder with a loop on one end and a circular cage on the other end. Most of the cage bars are bent. Faded Old Ongish script is painted around the surface. The object is 10” in overall length and 4” in diameter.
A metallic green statue with a cylindrical base. The form is a thin, stylized, androgynous humanoid with a bald head lacking eyes, nose, ears, or a mouth. It is 18” high.
A bright green grotesque mask with yellow lips and eyebrows. There are holes for the eyes and ears. The back of the bulbous nose is hollow and can receive most human noses. The securing strap is missing. It is made from artificial bone.
A pair of orange shoes shaped like marine animal fins, made from artificial cartilage.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Anton is fascinated by the mask. "Do you think it would suit us instead of this skull?" he inquires.
Can we see what it looks like?

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Once enough people investigate these objects, their definition will become more refined. This will be simulated by drawings.

Denslow will burn 4 luck to gift Max 8 to boost that roll

Silvestri examines the cylinder with the loop and cage:
Artifact check: [1d20+12]=17+12=29
"Does anyone speak Old Onglish?"

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Silvestri examines, experiments, and discovers the use of the caged metal cylinder. When a button on the top activates the device, the cage vibrates and will pass into solid objects. When the cage region bottoms out against the base of the cylinder, the device deactivates and is firmly anchored into the surface where it was placed. This could be used to secure a rope or function as a lifting hook for a crane and sling.

"How useful!"
He shows others what it does and then looks for a power level indicator.
