Expedition planning and discussions
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
It was a suggestion raised by Moriartus as he is sending the Bonsai tanks there for druid Clive to inspect.
By all means go to visit Bjornark in his ruined moathouse.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Ah, I see well I suppose that gives me 3 options technically. But the druid Clive sounds like a better option. Go ahead and keep Dalin onboard for that. If all else fails Bjornark is the back up plan.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
I know Vann Hector, Sir Dewey and Cosmo are still 'on expedition' but I think ours will conclude shortly with either a TPK or we win the battle and make our way back to Helix.
We are at day May 12th currently, so could be around for any new recruiting (on your days in the tavern May 21st+) if we make it back in character.
If Dalin is going alone to find a cure for his disease, I am sure one of us could accompany him though I have a preference for Vann Hector to go exploring the Barrow Maze (if I can find an entrance) ...

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
I thought it was only Sven and Orgoth going to Ironguard Motte, but apparently I wasn’t reading all the threads very carefully. (so many posts)
If there is a whole other crew going as well, perhaps I will put in in a good word and try to sneak along? At least for the travel portion.

I do like player confidence.' but I think ours will conclude shortly with either a TPK or we win the battle and make our way back to Helix.
The Mummy Mound and Silas Barrow team are both looking to liquidate assets and do a few side errands and research in Ironguard at the same time.
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
This one!

It looks like we have:
Friar Marcel (NPC)
Raust with Namma and Carca
Traeliorn
Gerdal
Isvand
...and maybe Venwynn?
I am hoping Marcel's research gives us a leg-up on the search or what to do when we find them to advance this plot.
The only lead appears to be "follow their tracks from the last attack and do better than the soldiers did."

Great!Count Venwynn in!

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
That looks like a solid party. I think we start when Marcel is ready, so whenever Spearmint says, right?
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
I will open some new expedition threads in the coming days, just giving folk time to finish in Helix roleplay. Some characters have returned injured or are preparing new spells, learning skills or fulfilling commitments so I am finalising those.
As far as departure dates go, it will probably be no earlier than May 25th and preferably 28th+
With that in mind you can cover your stay in the tavern and kennel the wolves in the stable pens.
Your team might also consider supplies and any mercenary beef to buff out the group.

Thanks for opening the expedition threads!
My attempt to recruit Herne rangers as retainers was moot and the fees associated with the mercenary camp are too rich for a penniless new PC. Do other experienced PCs want to recruit NPC muscle?
Without it, this appears more scouting-oriented. Alternatively, we could appeal to the Lord for a backup party of soldiers to call in behind us for eradication?

I'm sure the lord wants a chunk out of the earnings as well, knowing our dear GMMarullus wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 4:16 pm Thanks for opening the expedition threads!

Regarding equipment: since we're not planning to go underground and have at least one healer, maybe not a lot? A first aid kit a piece?
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Does Sastaz take her mule?
You were going to augure for the couple in the tavern.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Undoubtedly.

Raust is highly Charismatic, if you want me to do the recruiting pitch, but I've not got the coins. Happy for you to do it, too. I think having two extra half-elf ranger types along is a good fit for the group.sastaz wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 4:41 pm Gerdal is talking to a half-elven couple at the Strumpet. We could ask them to join as retainers/henchmen for half a share each? They're novice, but still add to the damage (and hit point ^^) pool. And being half elven, I'm sure they use ranged weapons, highly usable out in the open.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Sure! Let me RP the soothsaying (in a bit IRL) and I will call for Raust in the Strumpet.
Also, I'm thinking they work for shares, no up front payment.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Hi all. Spearmint and Marullus directed me here after a hiatus from being in the forum. I'm happy to make a fighter for the party, if that's what is needed. I'll start rolling tomorrow and have them done by Sunday evening.
Any specific supplies still needed?
How close is LL Advanced to the 1e book? (Though I might have spdf of the 1e book somewhere...)

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
If you mean D&D 1e like B/X or Mentzer, it's close enough. LLA (which is AD&D without the IP) has bigger hit die, not race-as-class (you can be elven fighter, not simply elf) and a bit different class/spellRusty Tincanne wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 12:54 am How close is LL Advanced to the 1e book? progression. I mean, it's details really IMO. Apart from that LLA (or rather AD&D) has some funky addon rules like segments, weapon length, #attacks/round depending on weapon, but Spearmint does not use all of them. Most notably, most ranged weapons can attack twice per round.
And welcome
