Dalin after his quick business in town goes straight to his room and has food and drink sent there. Paying extra for discretion if needed. Anyone that has met Dalin before notices he has his face covered and hood of his cloak over his head as if hiding and that would stand out the most as the dwarf never used to hide his features.

Moriartus

https://www.unseenservant.us/forum/view ... 62#p604562

"I managed to negotiate a fairly good price for the gold filigree and large golden ankh at the local jeweller. Although, now that I think of it, Mr. Durgo was present ... I hope Mr. Gur did not think I was attempting to finagle him." He only gives this unpleasant thought a moment's regard before shrugging his shoulders. "Here is everyone's share." Moriartus distributes several small sacks of gold and platinum coin. "I suggest waiting until we visit Ironguard to convert that into gems or jewelry, if you're so inclined."

Sven looks at the halfling with concern.

“What? Really? I know there’s cult activity out on the moors but I never dreamed any of the stuff we found could possibly be tied to that. It looks like a plain old goblin head to me. The green goblin!”

Cadeweed

"Sven, if you think that one is scary, nothing scares me more than the Necromancer that is out on the moor. While we managed to avoid the Necromancer directly we have battled many of his agents - Zombies, a lesser Necromancer that commanded the mummy from the tomb, and army of creatures that were constructed from other beings and using poison darts and we even saw the skeleton of a giant on our last journey!"

Sven gasps.

“Oh my! This necromancer you speak of. He wouldn’t happen to have flaming hair, would he?” The mage winks, doffs his hat, bows low, chugs the remainder of his ale, slams the mug on the table, and laughs along with his friends.

”Enough talk of danger. Let’s eat and drink and toast to our old pal Drew.”

Sven raises his mug and talks over the crowd. “TO DREW! WE DIDNT KNOW YOU WELL, BUT WE KNOW YOU MET THE BRAVE AND WORTHY END OF A TRUE HERO!”

“TO DREW EVERYONE!”

Moriartus raises his glass in toast to Drew. Suddenly thinking about Friar John and the Bennerjake twins, he also solemnly adds, "And to all those left behind ... and those we may yet meet again."

Cadeweed

Cadeweed is used to being the butt of jokes for taller folk which happens often when you have look up to see everyone else's backside. He raises his mug and when the praise is done pulls out his pipe and works on that for the rest of the evening.

Traeliorn

Traeliorn enters into the Brazen Strumpet without trying to attract too much attention by keeping his cowl pulled over his head. Spotting Raust the Elf makes his over to the Druid "I see that news about snake men has been reaching everyone's ears." said Traeliorn as he observes everyone. Calling the nearest tavern maid for an order of ale the Elf continues "So who is everyone here? Are all these people joining together on the quest?"

OOC - Sorry! I didn't know everyone was active on Sunday. Holy macaroni everyone can roleplay really good! I had to back track just to get the jest of what's going on.

"Traeliorn. Venwynn. Rangers who will track.
Gerdal, Isvand. They helped honor the dead. They come.
Sven. He goes to the bigger city, not with us.
Moriartus. He found the lumbercamp and will tell us more."

Fydmar
To the now larger group. I am Fydmar, a dwarf with some luck. Especially around zombies (laughs). Well met! Buys a round for all. Seems we will all be going to Ironguard. Could there not be someone there who might have a concoction or spell to help Dalin? Don't like leaving his fate to a single roll of the dice.
Man the posts have been busy. will try to catch up tonight

Dalin pays a serving girl to bring a note to Moriartus asking if he has a moment to stop by his room for a quick chat.

Moriartus discretely reads the note from Dalin. "Excuse me, everyone. I have something I need to attend to." He nods politely to the others seated at the table. "It was a pleasure to make all of your acquaintances. Please, enjoy the wine." Gesturing to the bottle of imported wine, he then rises from his chair to call upon Dalin at his room ...

Dalin lets Moriartus in.
"I just learned some disturbing news friend. The hostel that my friends were being cared for in was burned down. I was warned by one of the sisters in the Chapel that people afflicted like me lately have turned up dead or in similar states. So if you have a letter for that druid I am going to go on the journey to see him for what befell me in our most recent expedition. You might warn others that anyone that looks diseased is not safe in Helix. Thus my covering up and avoiding the general public."
used a spoiler wasn't sure how we wanted to handle private conversations.

Moriartus

To Dalin:
"That is very disturbing news, my friend. You were very wise to keep a low profile. I am arranging for you to accompany the next Silver Standard caravan to the Crooked Yew. The journey is the better part of a day, but the trail is fairly uneventful.

I advise not investigating anything unusual along the way, though. The humanoid tribes in the area have come under the influence of Set by one called The Prophet. Converts to the new faith strongly oppose the prevailing neutral sentiment towards civilized folk.

Here, I already wrote a letter to the druid, Brother Clive. Please also take this waterskin to him. It contains that magical fountain water we found.

Good luck, Mr. Dalin."

Brother Clive,

Greetings, my friend. I hope this letter finds you well. Along with this missive are several items recently procured from a mound associated with Sylvanus.

The length of root is a gift. Miss Two-Birds believes the wood suitable for a staff of excellent quality, well suited for a man of your stature. The nature and value of the bonsai tanks and jars of scions elude me, and of course I immediately thought of your expertise in this area. I have also arranged for their return shipment to Helix.

I have another request concerning Mr. Dalin, the bearer of this letter. He has recently contracted mummy rot disease during a barrow excavation. Efforts to secure treatment here have proven difficult. I would be most grateful for your assistance with this terrible condition. Please keep one of each bonsai tank and jar of scions as payment, if you desire.

Mr. Dalin also bears with him a waterskin of magical fountain water I collected from the Sylvanus mound. It appears to have properties of purification and may prove effective against the virus. If true, I can certainly procure more water as to your needs.

Please give my regards to Ash, Birch, and Conker.

Yours truly,

Moriartus

Dalin to Moriartus smiles kindly and takes the letter.
"I thank you Moriartus. As I said be careful both out there and even here in Helix. If I do not see you again I want to say thank you for taking me on the expedition, and don't take it to heart that my contracting this disease was anyone's fault. We didn't entirely know what was in that mound, now we all have a better idea. It was a pleasure and I hope to see you again."

Dougal

The ranger approaches the larger group once Fydmar has done so to.

Unkempt read hair and beard, weather-beaten skin, medium height and girth, sinewy arms. Dougal wears practical clothes of dark green and brown or reddish brown colours. His stripped pants have vertical lines in these colours. His torso is protected by a studded leather armour and over his shoulders he wears a hooded dark green cloak.

"Sae, here is another ranger. But this one's staying with Mr. Moriartus, that's for suir." He chuckles. "My name's Dougal. Have been here for a cauple weeks already. Interesting talk ye were having here abaut a necromancer, no less."
