CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
I think it is 2d6 at the 21 result, you still have another d6 of dmg coming to ya.greyarea wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 6:04 pm Thanks!
[1d4]=1 fruits For [1d6]=1 dmg
Not exactly my best rolls…
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
You are correct, sir! Thanks!
And also [1d6]=5 dmg

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Denslow concentrates on one of his budding branches and generates an unstable organic mass roughly shaped like an apple. He picks the fruit and drops it into the pit, then moves back from the hollow formation. The chemical reaction in the mutated fruit explodes with a muffled >THUMP<!
The blast wave rises through the irregular edifice and vents out the various holes, vibrating the formation as the energy disperses from the void.
Taking flight with a panicked frenzy, the vulture-beasts circle the area before moving off to the south.

Denslow peeks back into the hole to see if those lights still illuminate
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Denslow carefully peeks back inside the hollow formation. He peers down into the depths of the pit looking for the blue lights. Some dust remains suspended in the air, but he cannot see any sign of the lights.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Denslow tells his companions to try to walk over again.
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Max hesitates and then walks boldly to the edge of the carnage. He then stops and, taking a deep breath and closing his eyes tight, he steps across the threshold and into the pain…

Urlando
The twin-headed rat-man looks over both shoulders at the rest of the party to see if they heed Denslow's call. He cautiously steps forward, following Max. He listens as he walks for the ringing sound he heard after getting blasted on the last trip across the sand.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Overcoming his apprehension, Max boldy crosses the ill-defined carcass barrier to approach the formation. When he pads across the line, there is a slight tingling in his feet and grains of sand roll a few inches before settling still. Urlando follows, noticing a slight sensation through his feet before advancing beyond the point he was previously stunned.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Anton scans our surroundings to make sure the explosions hasn't drawn any new attention
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Silvestri approaches the formation, watching the ground for any reaction.
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Saiph waits until all the others have safely approached the formation before heading over.
Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Kurot also tentatively edges into the "danger zone." Assuming he doesn't get a big shock, he joins the others.

Podo
Reassured by the lack of flashes Podo looks over at Denslow and says, "Nice! It got rid of the birds as well"
Wooden spear at the ready, Podo stares inside the hollowed structure. Feeling very much at home in the darkness he climbs inside the largest opening to scout out the interior.

Urlando
Urlando cautiously advances to the edge of the structure to stand by Podo and Denslow, using all of his senses to watch for any sign of another explosive shock.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Anton doesn’t notice any activity save the dust cloud that is quickly dissipating.
Silvestri and Saiph sense a slight “agitation” through their feet as they cross the imaginary line. Kurot scans the carcass zone when he enters and notes that nothing registers in the sensors of his lower extremities. He joins those at the formation.
Pleased that the carrion birds have departed, Podo forces his bulk into the interior of the structure guided by the light from Denslow’s glowstick. He pauses halfway in when he realizes there isn’t a floor of any sort; the illuminated pit spans the entire length and width of the edifice, lacking any place to stand.
Podo and Denslow note the bottom of the 30ft-deep pit contains a damaged box where the three blue lights use to shine. A dark rope is connected to the box and buried in sediment disturbed by the explosion. There is a small dark pit where loose sediment has settled into.

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Urlando peers in through the holes in the structure and examines it.
Is the dark rope lying on the surface 30 feet below us, or is it suspended from the structure in some way (as a possible way down)? Is there any purchase on the walls to climb down?

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
Similar questions to Urlando's, is the grade of the pit steep or does it look relatively safe to slide down to the bottom? Is there any markings or imagery on the inside walls?
"This looks like a pretty safe place to camp for the night. Do you think this is more of Motter's technology?.... Oh and does anyone have a grappling hook?"

Re: CHAPTER 12c: Across Motter's Realm
The walls of the pit match the interior of the formation; smooth, irregular, and reflective black. In fact, one may conclude that the walls of the pit are a continuation of the structure exposed above the ground. The pit’s walls are flared, angled out and do not afford an apparent means to safely negotiate a descent. You now realize this edifice is made of metal with 2-inch-thick walls.
The box and rope lie at the bottom of the pit, embedded in the sediment.
