Ambergris

"We need to tempt her to reveal her presence. Perhaps sending the cloaked unseen servant ahead and mage handing a door knock gets her to cast any spells at the ruse rather than us."
he suggests, holding back from going beyond the steps.

agreed
tommy casts unseen servant and drapes the cloak they gathered from the sacrificial room
and sends it down the stairs to open the door and move ahead

unseen servant spell
Unseen Servant
1 conjuration
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Target: An unoccupied space on the ground within range
Components: V S M (A piece of string and a bit of wood)
Duration: 1 hour
Classes: Bard, Warlock, Wizard
This spell creates an invisible, mindless, shapeless force that performs simple tasks at your command until the spell ends. The servant springs into existence in an unoccupied space on the ground within range. It has AC 10, 1 hit point, and a Strength of 2, and it can’t attack. If it drops to 0 hit points, the spell ends.
Once on each of your turns as a bonus action, you can mentally command the servant to move up to 15 feet and interact with an object. The servant can perform simple tasks that a human servant could do, such as fetching things, cleaning, mending, folding clothes, lighting fires, serving food, and pouring wine. Once you give the command, the servant performs the task to the best of its ability until it completes the task, then waits for your next command.
If you command the servant to perform a task that would move it more than 60 feet away from you, the spell ends.

The Unseen Servant floats down the narrow hallway and easily opens the door to reveal a dark room beyond...
(I'm assuming you have a light source to see all of this, right? At least Lesh needs one.)

McCoy (the unseen servant) moves in to the room since the light source is already giving our approach away Tommy adds to the decoy by casting a sound illusion with his voice coming from the unseen servant

"i dont see her but she came this way, careful, she's wounded"

minor illusion spell
Minor Illusion
cantrip illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Target: See text
Components: S M (A bit of fleece)
Duration: 1 minute
Classes: Bard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard
You create a sound or an image of an object within range that lasts for the duration. The illusion also ends if you dismiss it as an action or cast this spell again.
If you create a sound, its volume can range from a whisper to a scream. It can be your voice, someone else’s voice, a lion’s roar, a beating of drums, or any other sound you choose. The sound continues unabated throughout the duration, or you can make discrete sounds at different times before the spell ends.
If you create an image of an object—such as a chair, muddy footprints, or a small chest—it must be no larger than a 5-foot cube. The image can’t create sound, light, smell, or any other sensory effect. Physical interaction with the image reveals it to be an illusion, because things can pass through it.
If a creature uses its action to examine the sound or image, the creature can determine that it is an illusion with a successful Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. If a creature discerns the illusion for what it is, the illusion becomes faint to the creature.

Dammit! I should have had that blow up too for extra damage!

The unseen servant moves into the room and you follow. There is nothing in the room but rubble and four rotting wooden support pillars.
The limestone corridor leading out of the room ends in another chamber...foul-smelling, murky water surrounds an open sarcophagus resting in the middle of this crypt, its stone lid lying broken in three pieces under the water north of it.
From where you stand, you see nothing alive (or dead) in the room.

tommy looks around inspecting the area
Perception: [1d20+4]=8+4=12
i don't know, maybe she didn't come this way, thought there were signs of passage maybe they were old...
he starts heading back
i'll make sure she doesn't double back on us
he sends the unseen servant ahead of him as he starts to go back to explore the other side of the hallway, she might not turned this way

Lesh moves sluggishly up toward the coffin with Ambergris to investigate while trying keep an eye on the murky water around it. If they find nothing in the coffin he will move north to investigate the pieces of the stone lid.

While Tommy heads back down the hallway to check for the necromancer's passage, Ambergris and Lesh ease into the crypt and walk up to the sarcophagus. Peering inside, there are no bones, just black sludge.
Lesh examines the lid fragments and notes it was carved into the likeness of a screaming, axe-wielding barbarian.
Ambergris examines the wooden braces and they are far from steady, but holding for now.

Tommy returns to the dry corridor, unseen servant leading the way, and steps out into the passage they entered from the morgue. To his left is the way back to the bathhouse and the hallway still blackened from the fireball. To the right, there are steps leading up to a door.

Ambergris

Will take a bit of wood or use his spear to poke inside the coffer sludge hoping to fish out another time or interesting trinket.

Could be a hidden vault or panel beneath that hides the goodies. Maybe the body the witch was working from came out of here?

If he finds nothing he will follow after Tommy.

Best not to disturb...
The voice drifts through his mind as Ambergris pokes around inside the coffin sludge, hoping to reveal a hidden panel or some such. Lesh has already turned back toward the entrance to the crypt...when a ghostly battle axe materializes above the sarcophagus and chops at Ambergris!
(Initiative!)

Tommy beckons the unseen servant to open the door and when nothing happens, he step out behind it. A hallway stretches to the right and in the distance there is a stone altar with skulls and bones piled around it.

Ambergris

Continues his provocation of unseen spirits, what with the gauntlets and now an axe. Both aiming to bludgeon or chop off his head

Ambergris: initiative [1d20+2]=6+2=8 to hit with net at disadvanatge [1d20+4]=11+4=15 [1d20+4]=19+4=23

He reacts by throwing his net at the flying shaft, hoping to entangle it. "Err guys, wait up." he says trying to follow them and find some kind of shield he can use to interpose versus the attacking ghost.

tommy looks back expecting his companions behind then down the corridor and the pile of bones trying to be patient but the curiosity gets the best of him as he commands the unseen servant to move ahead towards the pile of bones
he commands the servant to move down the corridor, tommy holds back by the door and just peering inside ready to send eldritch death to anything that moves, he hopes the unseen servant can lure any attackers in to view so he can blast away, he'll move the unseen servant just inside the room and then back just enough to entice any would be attackers to show and come after it

Sapping Sting: [1d20+5]=4+5=9, damage: [1d4]=3
Spiritual Weapon: [1d20+6]=12+6=18, damage: [1d8+5]=6+5=11

"Err guys, wait up."

Ambergris calls for Lesh to not leave the room just as the ghostly axe chops into the top of his shoulder!

Pain lances through the aging sea captain as he flings his net at the axe...but the weighted net passes right through it to land across the sarcophagus.

Lesh attempts to drain the vitality of the ghostly axe and then casts his own spiritual weapon! But...as most weapons of the ethereal nature, there is no effect.

Tommy hesitates, expecting his companions to join him...but then curiosity gets the better of him and he sends the unseen servant onward toward the altar and the bones piled around it. The conjured servant moves back and forth inside the room and around the altar...but nothing appears to disturb it.

Ambergris

So he can be physically hit himself but not physical hit in return. The sea-dog cannot turn ethereal and doesn't want to give up the ghost just yet. Thinking he can only defend himself with a ghostly hand of his own, he casts a chilling touch to counter the mad axe attacks.

Ambergris cast Chill Touch [1d20+5]=12+5=17 skeletal hand fights gauntlet [1d8]=5
Cantrip: Chill Touch ... 1 action casting time, 120'ft range attack. V, S. 1 round duration.

you create a ghostly skeletal hand in the space of a creature within range. Make a ranged attack. On a hit the target takes 1d8 necrotic damage and cannot regain HP until end of start of my next turn. Until then the chilled hand clings in place. If you hit an undead target, the undead has Dis Adv on attack rolls vs you until the end of your next turn. Increase damage to 2d8 @5th.
He continues to retreat looking for something to use as a shield or even get through a door.
