Frank Is relieved when the teams return safely with no major injuries. Seeing Ms Vitt and her associates, she glances at the prisoner before smiling and nodding to each in turn. "It is good to see you all, it seems the Marches is a small place after all, and you've brought a gift"

Kit sets to and is able to manufacture thirty 2kg shaped charges that, if placed on either the top/side aspect of a helo or anywhere on an interceptor grav/jet, will likely render it FUBAR. Historic sensor images of a Stag in flight are recovered and show a distinctive "port" over the power plant that is deemed an appropriate "identifiable attachment point" for "infantry" to understand. Training images are disseminated to the assault troops (Gaughan and Jess' squads).

These adhesive satchel charges have time delay/chemical fuses with manual activation (rip cord) to allow a safety distance for the user.

For more sophisticated fusing please roll another Demo Roll +2 (Skill +Int only this time but which can be aided by Electronics)

(OOC: The charges are Pen 10 with mid tech TL 11-12 explosives and a "rip cord" fuse. Note to QM this uses up half of one of you "units" of explosives. Going with the merc Book general terms here. Actual amount used is 60kg of explosive but also requires "formers" for making up the charges, detonators, detcord, wiring, etc. So the number of charges made rather than amount of explosive used is what is depleting the expendables here).

Voss adds "Sir, we can pull the trigger on the first phase of the operation almost immediately once Team Henker is prepped and loaded in their vehicles. I'll inform the Vargr as soon as you give the word".

He rubs his temples "Sir, we're not going to be able to put off the furry fekk... our allies any longer. They're coming over unnecessary as it is. Apparently they can smell the discharged weapons brought back on board and... well... their military perception of matters is very acute. I recommend that they are briefed and allocated a task as soon as possible... if not immediately".

Frank can't fail to notice that the Aslan are now all fully armoured. They appeared to be wearing an Aslan type of armour with enhanced exo skeletal features. This might explain how they can tote all the ammo for their support weapons which feed off either oversized box magazines or in the case of the minigun a "hopper". The female Aslan is also kitted up and is accompanied by a coffin sized drone/grav trolley which seems to carry even more ammo, the selection of oversized melee weapons and, incongruously, some first aid gear.

Jakob stayed on the private channel with Liv. "No, stay with Frank and be a sounding board. Things will get dynamic real quick, and a trusted second brain can maintain wide view attention when a leader has to focus on a challenge. Besides, there are so many players in this game that it'll be easy to mistake friend and foe. Help us all stay on track."


The below assumes Jakob's team are staying in place, in the Viper's nest berm.

"It sounds like things will get lively shortly, I'll get the vehicles here. Ms Ingridsdottir, before you run off to do ship-y stuff, can you help your folks tie into the mortar's fire control? A drone or two doing recon and forward observation wouldn't be turned down, either."

"Whiskey One, can we get our vehicles (1) heading this way, as well as a transport for our ship crew?" Jakob asked Frank. "We'll make this berm a fallback position, if needed. If you can send more ammo we'll keep it as forward supply."

Back on the team channel, Jakob continued to organize. "Caxton, you have defense. Make this place safe for any of our friends and death to anyone else. Beau, you and the team are on me, let's see what we can do about these AA batteries. We'll climb up this ladder and see what things are like, and then use the G carrier, grenades, and our explosives to deal with the other AA batteries. Everyone, reload and relax while the band warms up."

Frank introduces Kit to the Aslan and attends while they are briefed on the mission (bringing Polly along as translator to minimise the chances of any 'misunderstandings'). He makes sure they understand that Kit is the commanding officer and that The Hawkwind is a friendly vessel to be freed, and the other ships captured (ideally with minimum damage, but ultimately the mission comes first and if they need to be seriously disabled to prevent their escape then so be it).

Once this is done, Frank will make sure everything is in place for the main mission to kick-off.

When she understands the outline of the assignment Polly grabs a moment with Frank. She seems to be quite animated after her recon task and seems to be looking forward to the commencement of the raid. Frank seems to get the impression that if he survives the coming day he won't regret the following night.

Polly says "The Iyhlua Clan warriors wait on your word, Warlord. They have opened and read their sealed orders from Yūgure, "The Twilight” herself and look forward to reaping glory for themselves and serving with your unit". She adds "Remember that they are proud male Aslan warriors, and specialists in only one role: battlefield assault. It might be unwise to task them with battle in confined spaces or in proximity to anything or indeed anyone "technical" or otherwise "fragile". You should forgive them their youthful exuberance and harness it with your will. These are naïve and untutored youngsters and will expect to hold anything they conquer for the clan... to the death".

She adds quietly "The Aslan have a great passion for "land". It is innate and beyond their control. Perhaps the promise of retaining a berm in the Starport would be a solution to focus both their obsession and their efforts?"

Kit

Kit is introduced to the Aslan. In their armour they are even bigger than he remembers and they are physically intimidating. They do absolutely nothing to diminish this. They are loud (moreso through their in suit speakers) their area smells of incense and... Aslan. The female Aslan greets Frank, Polly and Kit and then leads them the few metres to greet the biggest Aslan.

Initially conversation is per favour of the big Aslan's forearm mounted Trohkh/Galanglic translator which Kit notes seems surprisingly worn for recent issue. There is some "inclination of the head" and "upper body leaning" going on that Kit's no so familiar with but he notes Frank and Polly seem to get equal deference. After greeting Frank the big Aslan rumbles "Pollly Iyhlua, The Twilight has spoken to us, we have heard her words..." he then realises the translator is doing its work and bats it into silence before continuing in Trokh. Kit notes that an irritated swat at technology would certainly "ring the bell" of any human it encountered. He can't help but wonder what the result would be if the Aslan were really trying...

The big Aslan states that he is named Ryōma and his comrades are Junko, Tone and Hoga. Kit doesn't really comprehend Aslan and armour's not his speciality but he knows his auto weapons. Three Aslan (Ryōma, Junko and Tone) are armed with mid tech Heavy Machine guns fitted with shoulder stocks and are toting them like they were carbines. He recognises that these are surely in 15mm calibre and are belt fed (from oversize box mags). He notes Hoga is hefting a six barrelled electric action Gatling gun chambered in 9mm with dual feed ammo. In human hands all of these weapons would require vehicle mounts.

Frank smiles at the confident and gifted woman that Polly has grown into:

"As always, your advice on the Aslan is welcome. I constantly get the feeling that The Twilight is two steps ahead and has a plan for the clan, which only obliquely aligns with ours, but I'm glad that it does."

Later with Kit and the Aslan, et. al.:

Frank brings up map of the downport, zooming in on the berm in question.

"Lieutenant Ghoshal is tasked with taking the leftmost berm. That entails taking control of the two enemy ships there, and freeing a third allied ship from captivity. There are a number of external enemy units in this area, both embedded infantry and anti-aircraft batteries." he points to their locations around the berm (the two 'in' the berm, the one to the south, and the AA batteries in D3 and C5) "The lieutenant will be taking a squad inside to handle the ships there, and your assignment is to take out the external enemy locations. If we can take and hold the berm, then while the SEMC will claim the contents, including the ships, you may claim the berm itself for the honour of clan."

Jess, having parked the Avestan car, taken off her party frock and hurriedly armoured-up, arrives in the hold.

Seeing the Aslan in full battle array she stops mid-stride, her hand goeing to her weapon, momentarily before she checks the ingrained response and relaxes again.

Joining Frank and kit she asks: Getting along with our allies, are we, gentlemen?

Looking over the plan: Leften’nt Ghoshal, if you’re operating with these troops under command, you’ll want to establish you’re someone to respect. Honour and valour. I can help with that.

Straightening her posture, Jess turns to the Aslan and activates her holographic Teahleikhoi Regiment sashimono. She addresses the Aslan warriors in Trokh:
This unit is allied to Teahleikhoi, and I am honoured to wear this banner, awarded by Yūgure herself, as token of that. It is reward for our taking of the territory on Collace that the Clan now holds.

This officer – Jess indicates Kit – is appointed to guide your actions in the coming fight, show him the respect you would me, and you will deserve the land we grant you.

Polly has grown and indeed flourished. The fact that her mentor is Yūgure “The Twilight” and her personal trainer is Sazanami “Ripples on the Water” is surely no grounds for concern... at all...

Frank receives an incoming tight beam message (from orbit according to Dubs). Colonel Skeet of 4DC smiles confidently “Colonel Cross – sounds like it's all going well! I've just spoken with our liaison officer. It seems her plan has paid off - so less work and more ships for us! I have a Recon team in overwatch on your position - I've told them to take your calls”.

“Now, I plan to capture the up port as you make your move dirtside. As soon as you have the anti ship defences down send the codeword “Partytime” and we will make our first drop from orbit - Skip Dallas is leading that. He's a keen lad and he's going to secure the Drachenfels for me. I thought he'd tie in well with your people. My own fighters and some special help will control close orbit. My unit will then insert - I've put my best pilot on it. Damn but the handsome bastard is good - and yet so surprisingly modest with it”.

“Colonel, I plan to put a platoon of Imperial standard infantry into this place and end the fight as soon as I can. They will be led by Major Tourmaline” he sighs “because she neds to get out more". He continues "You will likely have direct fire support from the strike troop of my cavalry sooner than that - callsign Thunder. Appended to this message is our EW portfolio and comms evolutions". He adds "Colonel Cross, whatever you may have heard of 4DC's reputation, I operate a simple rule for all those working with me and so, whichever way this goes, I will not leave your people on the ground – because “Everybody goes home”. Good luck, Colonel, and I hope to see you in a matter of hours”.

"Everyone, load up," Prerna calls as she clambers into the commander's position in the IFV. When everyone reports ready, she comms Frank. "Colonel, Recon team is mounted up and ready to deploy with IFV."
