Frank

Frank is aware that the local Avastan City Militisia are overstretched and underfunded and have poor equipment and morale. Ivan and Igor who man the Startown gate are perhaps good examples of this. Any "immediate policing" is performed by API troops or private security only as far as it assists their elite sponsors. The Department of Tranquillity and Decency exists but no one sees very much of them. They apparently deal with more serious issues affecting the population's morality.

Frank

With Gaughan assigned to deal with the approaching g-carrier, Frank returns the squad to the ship.

Command channel: "Quick heads up, the Kforuzeng are the auxiliary police, so we need to be careful. Do we have any idea which police group is approaching?"

"Looking," Prerna replies. She peers back at the police unit.

Jakob

"Uniform One, leave one team to hold the tunnel, one team to move up the mid-hull ladder. They will hold the exit unless otherwise directed. Enemy working in the cargo bay. Have Oscar One ready." Jakob commed to Caxton. "Victor Two, move in and get to work. We are doing the same."

Until we go to better names, Oscar One is Freya herself.

Jakob motioned to Love: "Move away from the valve, towards the outer hull. Cover the valve. If anyone is there I'll send them your way." With the anagun stowed and the safety engaged, Jakob went up the side ladder, listened at the iris valve, and then went through if clear.

If there is anyone up top then Jakob will simply throw them down, through the valve.

Once on level deck he drew the anagun, listened at the hatch while testing the opening. When Love was up, Jakob moved onto the bridge and shot anyone who looked like they needed to be shot.

The Roadcrew

The police cruiser matches deceleration with Kit's damaged transport and pulls over about twenty metres behind it. The vehicle illuminates Kit, Able and Baker with its headlights while its commander and two crew get out. The crew are armed but are cradling their weapons rather than aiming them and appear to be wearing helmets and dark tactical gear. Their commander wears an ushanka and a long dark tailored overcoat with a brassard bearing the characters TaД. Further detail is lost in the glare of the headlights.

Now illuminated on the front slope of the grav cruiser is a panel stating "Department of Tranquillity and Decency".

With the DTD, stopping 20 m back, Kit will not approach them and let them close the gap. He will ask Able to pop the hood so that he can place the rifle on the engine out of sight. If one or more officers starts to close the gap he will yell "G'day ya', road rage on this town is nuts. Did you see they cut us off then started shooting. We will be OK but they need your help more than we do!"

As the units on the net acknowledge his instructions the iris valve at their feet sighs shut giving Jakob and Love some "floor" to stand on. Jakob then opens the iris valve vertically in front of them. As the valve snapped open he was greeted with "Stop letting the cold air... oh, fekkit!" Two crewmen are seated at the forwardmost command consoles and are wearing mid/high tech "slim fit" vacc suits. The older one remains seated and draws a big bore automatic from a shoulder holster while the other stands to draw a revolver from a hip holster.

Their intent is clearly not peaceable.

(OOC: NB You can snapshoot twice with each shot at -2 or put in one aimed shot at no penalty. Skillwise you will be +0 with the (weird exotic) anagun but gain +1 for Dex A with that weapon. The weapon is single shot so gets no autofire bonus).

Jakob

Jakob took a step onto the bridge as he fired, and then moved left, giving Love a shot. The anagun hissed at the older man.

Jakob does a single shot, rolled 8 + 1. Pen 6, rolled 4, so 10 on the wound minus if he has armor wherever he was hit.

If Love can shoot, she rolled 8 naturally, plus all of her bonuses. She would go for the standing target.

The figures are now identifiable as armed with suppressed carbine/SMGs and are visibly human despite the bulk of their armour and the backlighting (now mitigated by your vehicle's own illumination). None of these "DTD" cops appear to be making any hostile moves but have the bearing and appearance of long service professionals. The officer (Captain or Major?) wears a leather trenchcoat with a pistol belt over it. Despite the coat's bulk and her height her figure is definitely female.

From over the top of her atmo mask her green eyes take in Prerna with apparent appreciation as she says "That's a lot of rifle to take out partying - I think I might be jealous. Welcome to Avastan, Major Nayar".

Crow's feet crinkle at the corners of her green eyes as the officer drops her apparently flawless local accent and initially replies to Prerna in her native Sagamaal but then retains her hard Gram accent in Galanglic “Leyfðu öðrum að vera viðvörun þín. Let another’s wounds be your warning. It's from Njáls saga - a favourite at the family hearth”.

Taking in the group as a whole she deliberately acknowledges Kit and Jess while letting her gaze linger on Sugar. She then continues “You all look better for trading dust for dirty snow”. Removing her filter mask to light a cigarette Kristin Vitt smiles around her smoke and says “The Völva said you might need some extra help”.

Prerna ducks down and exits her vehicle. "Good to see you again. We're hunting pirates," she lifts her left hand, showing her wedding band to Vitt, "with my wife's help. She's up in the hills raising all sorts of hell."

She glances at Kit. "Load as many as you can in our vehicle."

She turns back to Vitt. "I need a ride to the starport, if you have the time."

Aboard the Viper's Nest

Jakob took a step onto the bridge as he fired, and then moved left, giving Love a shot. The anagun hissed at the older man.

As the pirates attempt to react the mercs open fire. Jakob's exotic handgun takes seated guy in the gun arm and he slumps in his command chair as his pistol drops from his grasp. The standing pirate is struck in the chest by a sound suppressed burst from Love. Hit centre mass by standard rounds his vacc suit weathers the storm. Miraculously he clears leather and fires his snub pistol catching Love in the right shoulder. Though the round explodes against her armour Love is unharmed and, lowering her aim, vengefully shoots him again. The pistoleer's vacc suit again soaks up most of the damage but he is painfully pummelled into unconsciousness by the brutal blunt force trauma to his guts and groin.

A loudspeaker on the console reports: "Oh, fuuuu... Marines!!!"
Beau's drawl follows "Well, are you gonna swing that wrench or whistle Dixie?"

A loud clang is immediately followed by Beau's report over your own comm "Victor Two - engineering secure. One prisoner".

"You okay?" Jakob motioned to Love. When she affirmed, he moved forward with his weapon up. "I'm not sure Freddy performs his escort service without enthusiastic visual distraction. Hold the iris valve and make sure he and the WO get up here safely. I'll secure these two."

Moving so that his back was to the console, in case someone else decided to visit the bridge, Jakob found an unprotected thick spot on the formerly standing pirate and shot him with a tranq round before securing the two pirates face down and strapped up. "Uniform One, bridge is secure. Move Oscar One this way. We have two prisoners on the brigde, unknown active numbers in the hold."

Jakob switched to the command channel as he searched the pirates, and then the bridge. "Whiskey One, Tango bridge and engineering secure, bringing Oscar One in to evaluate. There is still activity in the hold, we're about to deal with that."

Once Freya was on the bridge, and it was as secure as she and Freddy could make it, Jakob and Love moved down to clear the hold with two of Caxton's riflemen. The iris valves were closed but not locked, and Jakob switched to his rifle. "Victor Two, hold engineering. Respond if Oscar One needs you, otherwise you are ready reserve."

If needed, and with the iris valves closed the noise level isn't a thing

Right Freddy - Seem's we're up
The pair cross the gap from the tunnel to the vessel, Freya spooling cable as she goes - stopping to plug the end into the airlock's external comms port before entering.

Entering the vessel, she makes her way to the bridge using the floorplan she's uploaded from the tactical planning session.

On arrival she takes a quick look around and checks the power status. Is the ship on local power or ground supply?

She also flips on the internal camera system for the hold. and hopes it works

She also checks out the weapon system control panel What weapons does this ship actually have?

and trains the navigation telescope on the weapons bunker - at this range the issue is dialling it down so you can see the bigger picture! Is there anything to see? e.g. gigawatt rated power cables leading in? Comms Dishes for missile guidance? Those peripherals that (if broken) make the installation useless?

She also brings up the external feed she plugged in so it's displayed on the bridge monitors Hopefully there's no evidence of anything on that

Finally, she'll check the computer -

Jakob (Freya)

[Time: Somewhere in the middle of your last but (optimally for you) delayed by [Roll(1d6)+0: 6,+0 Total:6] six rounds so Jakob's not solo ].

Jakob secures the prisoners and checks over the bridge as he sees the "air lock" iris valve open and Love and Freddy enter the bridge followed by Freya. At this stage the "crew area" valve pops and a guy with a shaven head and an unkempt beard enters the bridge. He is wearing mag boots, "unlaundered" shorts and vest and carrying a pistol. He takes in the bound and sedated bridge crew and strangers aboard and goes for it. Jakob, Love and Freddy all give him the good news and, just as his bullet riddled corpse gets the memo from gravity, he fires barely missing* Jakob.

Freddy adds dryly "Brave or stupid - but with that nightwear he certainly wasn't a keeper. A gentleman prefers silk... and hygiene". He locks the iris valve open and covers down the crew deck corridor. He calmly states "Secure here" and then to Freya "You get yourself settled, Ma'am". He adjusts his cerise ascot and adds "If another one like this comes along I might need to borrow a mint".

The sweep of the lower hangar deck secures one technician as prisoner and what looks like four single seat space capable fighters (one under maintenance). They are the similar (budget) model to those the unit saw on Inchin. [Hence the "expert" identification of class/type]. The sweep links up with Beau securing the entire lower deck. Beau reports that he has closed and locked all external access hatches in Engineering.

Caxton calls Jakob "Sir, if the rest of these good ole boys are comin' on home then they're gonna run straight into our position at the berm entrance. That's going to start one hell of a party across the whole Starport. We can displace and move the bodies at your discretion, sir".

"Good point, hold one. Victor Two, take the team and make double sure every nook and cranny is checked and cleared." Jakob replied. He switched to the command channel, "Whiskey One, Oscar One, our folks outside need to vacate. What if Oscar One and Two took the ship to our friend out in the country, and Oscar One came back in a fighter? Not sure if Oscar Two could pilot, but I don't want Oscar One left aboard alone. I recommend everyone but Oscar One and Two leave the ship and return to base to prepare for the main event. That gives us maximum strength and takes care of any returning pirates starting a fight around their now captured ship. Orders?"
