I don’t think there could be a better time for Amos to use his Bless spell before we go in. Can I also ask if it would be allowed for Sven to have cast his Spider Climb spell before rounding the corner?

If the Unseen Servant is still in play, it could help grab the glowing blade too.

Sven winces behind his mask when he sees all the open corridors leading to untold horrors, finding the Barrow Wight even more frightening than its lackeys. He reflexively takes a few steps backwards and calls for missiles to be loosed.

“Let em rip fellas!”

During the gnomes and fighters ranged attack, the clerics can either throw their holy water or attempt a Turn, whichever seems more plausible.

Sven gets closer to a wall and casts a spell of his own, trying to lift the monster from the ground so it can’t charge the group. (casts Levitation at it, 60’ range, it gets a save)

2nd Level Spell Retention (INT 15) [4d6+2]=14+2=16 :(

Isvand runs forward a bit at Sven's words and lets fly with his boomerang, aiming for the barrow wight, but going wide, snagging it from the air, while keeping a keen eye on the passageways.

Boomerang attack [1d20+2]=10+2=12 Damage [1d4+1]=2+1=3
Bommerang recovery target 16 [3d6]=11

Orgoth

Orgoth moves to the front, spear at the ready. He holds his position waiting for the Wight to come to him and allowing missile attacks to occur.

If the Wight advances to within spear melee range he attacks.
Magic Silver Spear [1d20+2]=16+2=18 to hit [1d6+4]=1+4=5 damage
Shield Bash [1d20+1]=11+1=12

That's right. I was under the impression that the duration ended. But if it's still on, of course the servant will fetch the blade for her.

no, the US has dissipated and you erased the spell from memory. You could send in your 'seen servant' Drew?

In the Nergal Nave.

Amos invokes the blessing of Arcantryl, it increases the group morale and focus for the impending confrontation.

Sven,
you may have been able to cast the Spider Climb spell if you so wished, but the spell description prohibits further spell casting while under the dweomer due to your fingers being very sticky so spell compounds are difficult to handle rightly. With that in mind, I have gone with you preferring the levitation.
On a count of three, the group advance with a rush, determined to down the barrow Wight priest before it can invoke any unholy powers.

Orgoth stabs the creature, his silver tipped spear penetrating to the Wight's marrow. Gore and fetid blood slither from the wound then the feral-eyed undead ascends against his will, pushed against the arched ceiling 20'ft above.

But victory over darkness is hard won. The Wight's hands cackle with electrical energy and he gestures a roiling ball of lightening before hurling his fist at the group. The sparking arcs like a whip, targeting the pointing spellcaster and Sven gets violently shocked -5hp, his cloak resistant to fire but not electricity. Perhaps the shoulder studs and alloy facemask mark you for a more vulnerable target.

Treyvor readies another 'sticky sock' bomb, hoping to throw it and splatter this creature while he is handicapped by the levitation spell. The tacky sock though misses the wight and splats nearby, the fuse burning a few seconds to impact.

"I wouldn't stand under it." he advises.

While Truro and Gnimish guard your rear, the rest of you may duck into side aisles and attack the wight at range or take other actions.

Isvand rushes forward, but fumbles his throw of the boomerang, as he focuses more on getting under cover before the sock-bomb goes off.

Of course. Sorry about the contradiction. Not sure what I was thinking there. I also forgot he needed to take off his boots before casting that spell. (and eat a live spider) :o

Sven smirks a little once he is able to lift the wight off the ground, thereby hopefully preventing any touch attacks on his friends. That expression fades quickly once he learns this wight has a ranged attack that shocks him to his core. Luckily he is able to maintain his focus, dropping the evil target from the ceiling to just inside the range of Orgoth’s spear attack.

“I can hold it up like this for a while, but I can’t take much more of that foul electricity! Orgoth! Try to use your spear to push it closer to the bomb! The rest of you……keep firing!”

With little else he can do, the mage heeds the gnomish advice and stays away from the blast range.

SM, if Gerdal/Drew would go for the pulsating dagger, would that be closer to or away from the blast radius?

well let me think logistically. If you and the eight advance together you effectively meet up in the middle of the room, so 50'ft down.

The long nave is an arched hallway 20'ft high. The sticky bombs exploded the gargoyle in a 5ft radius, so from the roof you are not in a blast area but may be under the falling or loosened stones.

The Wight seems to be able to manifest an electrical whip like weapon which he can crack some distance. I am handicapping his 'to hit' with the whip for being pushed around by the continuing levitation.

So Drew and Gerdal can nip by to investigate the Nergal statue and sword dodging the blast but still in danger of the eight. Though to be fair, as an intelligent creature, the wight most likely is going to target spellcasters and clerics in priority to others.

Gerdal

"Cover me Drew!"

She stays behind Drew as they try to circle the wight, so that Drew at all times blocks line of sight to her.

Her target is, of course, the blade. If the wight circles with her, maybe Isvand can get a backstab in.

Orgoth

Orgoth will try and use his spear to get the Wight closer to the bomb and maybe keep it between the bomb and the party.

ah shucks. you know I am fairly loose with spell interpretations. I did check the barefoot thing. You can still cast Magic Missile as it has no material components.

In the Nergal Nave .... and cellar!

Isvand launches a boomerang at the wight against the ceiling, his curved cudgel skims the arched roof missing the descending wight.
Orgoth barrels into it, interposing his shield. Shards of ceiling scatter the floor as the sticky-sock bomb ignites, splattering people with dust and debris.

Truro attacks the creature, flailing his mace in a wide arc that the wight parries with ease. Using more prepared missiles, Amos and Gnimish throw vials, one splashing just a few drops of burning holiness -2hp but once more the gnome gets a truer strike and the wight burns with hissing steam. -11hp.

Sneaking by the frantic melee, Drew shields Gerdal in her effort to grab the pulsating blade.
Stepping close to the bright blade you miss a step. In fact the step is not even there. Reaching for the blade you uncover the illusion in front of the statue of death and fall head first, tumbling down a pit which has an angled chute that deposits you underneath the statue among a gathering of ragged zombies, feral and hungry.

The Wight, reaches out, he grabs the gnome who has burned him, wreaking unholy revenge by draining his life and strength. Gnimish shrieks as his soul shrivels under the necrotic touch, his shadow quivering and morphing into a hunched demon figure. He collapses to the floor. Somewhere a game of cards, a poker hand where 'all-in' has been called is played out.
Critically, next actions please

Isvand rushes out toward where Gerdal dropped from sight. Gerdal! Hold on!!! When he reaches about where he wight was and where he last saw Gerdal & drew, he drops to his belly and starts to scoot quickly but carefully until he feels the lip where the bit starts. Inching forward just enough to see the pit with Gerdal and Drew, he again shouts Hold On! I've got an idea! Looking at the wight up in the air, back at Sven, and the others, he glances into the pit again, takes a deep breath, and starts mimicking the movements Sven made just a minute ago to the best of his abilities. Did his left hand have 2 or 3 fingers pointing? The trick is to know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em, fingers crossed!

Wight chill touch vs T,O,A,G,S [1d5]=4[1d20-1]=19-1=18 [2d4]=5

I’m not sure how this got confused, but the idea behind the Levitation spell was to keep the wight off the ground high enough to prevent it from touching one of us. (especially me)

If Sven is controlling it’s movement, which I thought was the case, he is no longer going to allow it anywhere near one of us again. (especially me)

Luckily he is able to maintain his focus, dropping the evil target from the ceiling to just inside the range of Orgoth’s spear attack.

Yes I thought that was the plan so I think I misinterpreted the above dropping as to the ground. It enabled the extra acid and water attacks at the cost of a melee. Call it fog of war (or my brain fog), in the noise you have Smokie howling, Truro shouting to bring it closer, Amos reminding folk to 'stay close to stay blessed'.

So Sven can levitate it back against the ceiling this round.
