Ambergris

Splutters in his own vomit and blood.

Ambergris: Death Saving throws vs 10+ [1d20]=19[1d20]=14[1d20]=12[1d20]=4[1d20]=6

Three successes.

as the sounds of battle die off, Tommy waits a second in alert of any hidden dangers, seeing Ambergris wounded and unconscious he moves to drag him out of harm's way unsure if the gauntlets will revive to attack him as well his first priority is to make sure the crusty sailor doesn't take more damage his attention focused on the gauntlets and is ready to react of they start to move again

if able he sets ambergris on the floor making sure he can breath unobstructed but there's not a lot he can do about healing his companion

and addresses the shackled man,
Who are you? are there any more prisoners?

he makes sure the servants of bane are dead and looks among their belongings for the keys to the shackles or anything of value

then looks to his reptilian friend
how are you Lesh? Can you do anything about Ambergris? or do we carry him out? we could try to get to a room and hole up or continue, what do you think ? these bitches of bane were pretty tough

Lesh uses Healing Word on Ambergris then bends down to further tend to his wounds leaving Tommy free to examine the man shackled on the wall. "Healing spells left have I none but potion I do" he offers Ambergris a potion of healing.

Altar of Bane...The Prisoner

Ambergris sputters in his own vomit and blood, while Lesh utters a healing word, restoring the sea captain to some semblance of health. A few feet away, Tommy addresses the shackled man.
Who are you? are there any more prisoners?

The man raises his head, and gasps weakly, "None but me...that I know of. I am Klim Jhasso, and my family will reward you handsomely for my return."

Tommy nods them checks the bodies of the Banites for anything of value. Both wear chain mail; the woman carries a shield and a mace, while the warrior carries a spear. On his belt is an iron key ring with seven keys.

Ambergris

Revived from the knockout blows, he stands, wary of the animated gauntlets. He wonders what magic was behind them.

While Lesh and Tommy check out the prisoner he will invoke his Eldritch Sight invocation (detect magic spell) and gestures his hook hand over the suit of armour and dead bodies.

tommy listens to the prisoner with a skeptical ear

perception/insight rolls: Perception: [1d20+4]=9+4=13 ; Insight: [1d20+4]=13+4=17

i'm sure you're a white dove and all Mr. klein and i'm sure mama Jhasso would be glad to see you; but we're looking for other prisoners and the sooner we find them the sooner we get out of here and any help on that would be to your benefit...
he takes off the rag from the prisoners face while looking for the key for the shackles
and let me tell you if i sense you're lying you wont get time to reflect on the error of your ways as these bane bitches were giving you so... what do you know of this place or its inhabitants ??....
he listens to see if Klein has any more information then turns to his companions to see if they disapprove as he moves to free him and unlocks the shackless
then again to Lesh and Ambergris
any thoughts? , should we keep going? he nods to the closest hallway to the south

looks like the followers of Bane and Myrkul are not completely aligned, they attacked us even when they thought we were Necromites... maybe we can make that work in our favor, not sure but it's good information

he looks at his companions wounds and then the south hallway
you want to rest for a bit before moving on?

as he is freeing the prisoner he thinks again
you're sure you're not with Myrkul? is that why they had you here?
if as you say your family can pay us they could pay a ransom as well, why did they have you here?
if you're not part of this unholy alliance , you dont have to worry about us

OOC: with a short rest (1 hour) we could recover some spell slots, Tommy is down to 1 1st level spell but could recover 2 more with a 1 hour rest, either way

Ambergris

I need to short rest as I am out of warlock abilities. I think I am a level lower than you guys so my spells are less.

We should question Klim more. "We're only two people keeping you captive? Where do these passages lead to. Who are the dead pair?"

Withdrawing to return in the morning, getting the man back and taking the reward sounds good. I am fine with pressing in, particularly if Klim has more skills than just bearing a torchbearer.

He speaks while still detecting the magic auras in the area.

Altar of Bane...A Brief Respite

When freed, the patron Klim Jhasso has nothing much to offer. He doesn't know anything about the dungeon, because he was blindfolded until he ended up in the shackles in this chamber. He is very weak from blood loss and maintains "my family will pay handsomely for my return. I know nothing about Myrkul or anyone else. I just want to go home."
Ambergris invokes a minor spell and looks around the room...but doesn't find anything that stands out.

Lesh is silent, and Tommy asks whether they wish to take a short rest.
"So, are you going to take me home?" Klim asks.

Tommy is a bit torn thinking to continue and try to find Aurayaun
i dont think Klim here will be much help, more of a liability really..
he looks at the condition and wounds of his companions and himself
though I want to continue, the prudent thing to do would be to recover outside and come back
we'll rest for an hour and make our way out to return in the morning, (he looks to his companions to make sure we are in agreement)
then looks to Klim yes, we'll take you home...

if all are in agreement we'll take a short rest and make our way out the way we came in through the bath house and back t the streets and go to Klim family home
where can we find your family Klim?

Ambergris

Agrees to the short rest. If the gauntlets are not magical by nature he will take them, in his net, rolled up and stuffed in his backpack. Who knows he might be able to animate them in his favour to box and strangle someone else.

Who wants the shield and weapons? Any other treasure we can find here? The seaman gathers up any trinkets he might be able to sell, goblets and stuff from the table. Where is the suit of armour helm? Anyone want some platemail? Lesh?

He speaks while still detecting the magic auras in the area.
The patron sighs. "As far as I know, they were the only two. I had came here to relax and the next thing I know, there is a bag over my head and I'm being man-handled into this hellhole! They really didn't question me, they just starting torturing me. The bitch said it was 'all to the glory of Bane' or some shit like that. I don't even know who this 'Bane' fellow is!"

Ambergris looks around the chamber with "arcane sight" but doesn't notice anything special or unusual about any armor or weapons, which includes the suit of armor and the gauntlets which attacked him.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, the plan is to leave and return Klim, take a rest, and return in the morning...correct?
Where are you planning on resting? Does anyone take anything from the room...besides Ambergris?

OOC:
yep, looks like we're heading out, its only getting tougher from here and being low on spells and HP is not a great idea,

i dont think there's anything else of value or interest in the room, Tommy will just pick up the keys and the necromite robe to try the unseen servant trick again when they come back, (puts the robe and keys away in his back pack)

for rest, the idea is just to take Klim to his place, collect what we can from him and go rest to meet back and try again

Tommy is going to Rivalen Blackhand from the Sorcerous Sundries and sleep in the room he has there
i think thats it

Lesh is going to follow Ambergris for the moment. He just needs to rest for the most part. Meet up back at Sorcerous Sundries?

Sure, take Klim back, receive reward, (level up?), rest and return later. Sorcerous Sundries works for me

good idea, lets try and leave it as if no one found it

tommy tries to put the wardrove back in place and and leave it seemingly undisturbed
cast Prestidigitation and mending (both are cantrips) as needed to clean/fix the area and footprints

Prestidigitation (cantrip)

CAST- At Will
Casting Time: 1 action
Range/Area: 10ft.
Source: PHB, pg. 267
This spell is a minor magical trick that novice spellcasters use for practice. You create one of the following magical effects within range:

You create an instantaneous, harmless sensory effect, such as a shower of sparks, a puff of wind, faint musical notes, or an odd odor.
You instantaneously light or snuff out a candle, a torch, or a small campfire.
You instantaneously clean or soil an object no larger than 1 cubic foot.
You chill, warm, or flavor up to 1 cubic foot of nonliving material for 1 hour.
You make a color, a small mark, or a symbol appear on an object or a surface for 1 hour.
You create a nonmagical trinket or an illusory image that can fit in your hand and that lasts until the end of your next turn.

If you cast this spell multiple times, you can have up to three of its non-instantaneous effects active at a time, and you can dismiss such an effect as an action.

Mending (Cantrip)
CAST- At Will
Range/Area: Touch
Duration: Instantaneous
Source: PHB, pg. 259
This spell repairs a single break or tear in an object you touch, such as a broken chain link, two halves of a broken key, a torn cloak, or a leaking wineskin. As long as the break or tear is no larger than 1 foot in any dimension, you mend it, leaving no trace of the former damage.

This spell can physically repair a magic item or construct, but the spell can't restore magic to such an object.

Leaving the bathhouse, the trio of adventurers escorts the patron Klim Jhasso back home. Once outside in the streets, there is an odd quiet in this part of the city. Smoke still rises in the distance where the explosions happened earlier in the night, but now there is an occasional noise in that direction, but its source is unclear.
The foursome weaves through the streets, heading for Heap Gate which will lead into the Upper City. However, once they arrive at the gate, the guards refuse them entrance. Klim tells them his name and they ask for some kind of proof...to which he has none. He is wearing nothing but a bloody shirt and some pants, is barefoot and covered in sweat and grime.
"Get on back to the docks, ya wharf rat!" one of the guards hollers, eliciting guffaws and hoots from the other two guards at the gate. Kilm swears and promises dire consequences upon the guards for refusing a tax-paying patron into the Upper City. To which the same guard replies, "Blow it out yer arse, ya pansy!"
More hoots and hollering from the other guards.

Klim turns to face his rescuers, leaning against the gate door, his face concealed by the shadows of the night.
"You've rescued me from death. Can you not persuade these men to open the gate?"

OOC: For defeating the Banites and rescuing Klim, each of you gets 200 xp.
