Avastan Planning & OOC
Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
Well, Prerna just kicked off the party in the streets. If Frank wants to change the plan, now's the time to do it

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
How many vehicles did we arrive at the club in? I can't remember if it was one or two.
Either way, I think we ought to send one straight back with the casualties and prisoners.

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
Two a van/minibus and a car.
In addition you now have the "new" ground car

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
The only thing I would say is that we have nothing to immediately take out the g-carrier, apart from Gaughan and his g-carrier. Unless we send another craft, or even better a small g-belt enabled team, to intercept with anti-air missiles, assuming it's coming this way. It's also going to be the vehicle that gets back here quickest.

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
I think we ought to send prisoners and casualties in the van and use the two cars as interceptors.
My first instinct is to keep them together, so we can concentrate fire on any crew we catch, but perhaps, with such a multiplicity of targets, we ought to split up and rely on surprise - stopping the vehicle getting to the port is the important thing, the crew on foot can be dealt with later.
We don't necessarily need AAM. A marksman on the G-Carrier, grav-belt or one of the "jeeps", could disable the driver and/or lift-units of the enemy vehicle and crash it without the "look at me" of a missile strike. The only thing I would say is that we have nothing to immediately take out the g-carrier, apart from Gaughan and his g-carrier. Of course, it would be harder to do....
Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
A group of snipers using grav-belts would be very subtle. They could move away from the port to intercept.
Of course, who at the ship has those skills?

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
Facts you can rely on are:
you know the (likely) route and destination of all the departing vehicles
grav vehicles act as much more efficient ground cars by flying above roadways unless they log a flight path with local ATC
grav vehicles will beat a ground vehicle through the city to the starport
the unit dealt with G Carriers operated by the Purge when storming the Bartizan - they are vulnerable to RAM grenades and LAW (and man portable energy weapons)
Any who won the maths prize will have worked out that there are more apparent getaway groups than there are target pirate crews...
Handy reminder: Deliverance (Patrol Corvette), Saxon (200t Trader), Abyss (400t Corsair), Nazareth (200t Trader), Vipers' Nest (400t Aux Carrier) and Drachenfels (500t Trader/Corsair)
You know the livery of at least three pirate crews - you've interacted with two of them and seen another. Definites are Abyss (seen by Jess) and Vipers Nest (seen by Kit).

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
I guess we need to focus on the crews of Deliverance and Saxon, but might want to engage at least one other for obfuscation.
There is one group that paired up, which means that could be either the Deliverance/Saxon pairing or Abyss/Naz.
At least Jess knows the Abyss symbol, we could try and confirm which.
EDIT: Those with the lightning symbol are likely from the Storm, that would match the ships boat we saw

Prerna set up targeting assignments, so feel free to modify them as needed.

Sorry to be a bit thick, I'm trying to work out a group to pick up g-belts and either LAW or RAM grenades to potentially take out the g-carrier, but I'm unsure as to which of the team on ship have the necessary RAM/LAW skills.
Or...can I get away with simply asking Cpt Domici to put together a team?

I like that idea..shaidar wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 3:27 pm Sorry to be a bit thick, I'm trying to work out a group to pick up g-belts and either LAW or RAM grenades to potentially take out the g-carrier, but I'm unsure as to which of the team on ship have the necessary RAM/LAW skills.

Yes, he can surely do that...shaidar wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 3:27 pm Sorry to be a bit thick, I'm trying to work out a group to pick up g-belts and either LAW or RAM grenades to potentially take out the g-carrier, but I'm unsure as to which of the team on ship have the necessary RAM/LAW skills.

...and a mobile Anti Tank team might be a useful "back stop" at the Starport...
...but you are aware that Gaughan's rangers took two LAW per man when they set off from the Merchant.

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
I assume that we have the carrier being tracked by the battle computer, we just need to feed Gaughin the info?
I also assume as we have the battle computer we don't need anyone specifically with a sensor type skill to pass it on?
Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
Yes to the first - exactly the case.
Prerna has actioned this task (in a command role) so as GM I'm now satisfied that Gaughan has been fed the data. If he had his own battle computer the two would update each other but in this case a human needs to bridge the gap. However, now the Battle Computer has been tasked to update him / his comm it will.
To your second point passing it on would be a comms roll. However, Freya has already pulled that off and I won't require a test to maintain those gains (a hand waved task/test).
Further to that ongoing sensor tasks (gathering new and real time data) will update the battle computer which will update the "plots" visibly projected at HQ and forwarded to subordinate units.
Showing my working again: successful sensor tasks/tests might gain you new discoveries but aren't required to hold/maintain what you already have. However, a change in circumstances would require that.
These techy sensor types are earning their pay here!

Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
I think this is best.(OOC: Unless I hear to the contrary I will assume that practicality dictates that the van/minibus ground vehicle is used for this role).
Apart from Jess, Prerna, Kit, Able and Sugar, who else is still fighting fit to divide between the two vehicles?
Re: Avastan Planning & OOC
You have Baker and Easy (both scout/snipers) and X Ray plus the unit medic (that Gaughan brought along).
However, X Ray is groggy from being tranqed (most likely diagnosis) and the unit medic will triage him as a casualty until assessed.
Unless ordered not to the medic will return with the casualties (with the unit at "general quarters" his assigned battle station is in the ambulance / aid post).

Medic and X-Ray in the van.
Suggest: Easy and Sugar with Jess, Able and Baker in the other car.
Prerna and Kit can pick their ride.

Kit
Kit will join the Able / Baker car. He will take off the long jacket as it is restrictive in the vehicle.

Hey all. Tiglath's constant, if very polite, welcoming attitude worn down my grumpy defenses. I'll be brinigng Jakob back on line shortly. I've read the Avastan Planetfall and Planning threads; you all have been busy!
Time for me to wash some dishes and for Jakob to offer Frank a plan.
