As we are exploring, we should make sure there is not any caves behind the waterfall.

Falling Waters

Pushing through the northernmost portion of the jungle, the group spots the area where the black cliff walls are engulfed with a massive 100 foot wall of falling water.

The rocky area beyond the jungle is clouded in mist, making the stony footing slippery and dangerous. There is a rocky ledge on this side of the river that might be navigated to get closer to the falls, but it will be a wet, harsh path to climb, if it is even possible.

There is a massive farming clearing beyond what appears to be a camp or village of some kind on the other side of the wide river from your position, but crossing that swift flowing body of water wont be easy even under the best circumstances. It is difficult to make out much detail through the heavy mists, but there seems to be natives moving around in parts of the huge clearing beyond the wide barrier of water.

Luther stops when he realizes how far they've come. This is the place. The native village. I made a few friends here, when we killed the pirate crew.

He looks out over the village, looking for activity.

The locals think the waterfall is a holy place. I'd suggest we don't mess around it. For that matter, we should probably make ourselves known- we don't want them getting a bad impression of what we're up to.

"If this is a holy place, we should respect it. I agree with you. However, there is no easy way to cross where the natives are, if we are to speak with them. I suggest we keep our distance first and go down the river and try to find a better place to cross it. Unless you want to go somewhere else, that is."

He moves over toward the shore and looks up and down the river for a nice place to cross and some indication of what is happening outside the cover. Well... We made it a lot farther than I thought we had. I supposed following the cliffs isn't so bad after all... Come to think of it... I think we found the bug nests while cutting across to the river south of here, because we never made it this far north.

The Knife

"I agree with Yrias", The Knife says. "If this waterfall is sacred to the natives, we should get away from it quickly. If they see us here, we don't have any way to say 'Don't worry, we're not going to mess with your waterfall' if they are all the way over there". He waves his walking stick in the direction of the village on the other side of the wide river. "And from what Luther says, they don't have fond memories of the last time they dealt with strangers".

The Knife looks up at the waterfall. "We should get their permission before we start investigating their waterfall for a Lost City of Gold. Or at least try and get their permission."

With the new input Wake agrees that we should give the waterfall some gap.

Let's go. Luther heads south along the cliffs.

I'm just lucky Luther's been here before. Otherwise, he would have been right there with The Knife, ready to look for hidden caves.

Amun seems indifferent to this seemingly important choice, but follows as the group leaves.

Falling Waters

As the group looks around at their surroundings on this rocky side of the river, they struggle to see much of the camp across the waterway due to the heavy mists enveloping the deluge of cool falling water. Luther suggests making their presence known to the natives who live here, but that sentiment is quickly advised against by his compatriots.

While a few members visually search the bank for a safer place to cross, Luther makes the determination that they should head back the way they came. He starts towards the black cliffs again ready to lead the group away from any possibility of angering the natives.

Actions?

While you decide if you will leave this area and follow Luther along the cliff path, I would like everyone to give me a [5d6] Wisdom check with their next actions, please.

The Knife stands there for a moment. He looks at the village again, then at Luther. "We could try crossing the river lower down." Finally he shrugs and follows the ranger.

Keg follows Luther since he seems more familiar with the place and just tries to get a general look at his surroundings as they move forward.

Wake continues walking and says to Luther, "Do not look back, but right under the waterfall they have an altar which could be why it is a sacred place to the natives."

Having decided not to try trekking this hostile jungle alone, Yrias follows the rest of the group.

Behind Luther, the group starts to head back into the jungle, following the natural path that runs along the base of the black cliffs. From a distance, Wake spots something very interesting in the large pool below the waterfall, telling Luther that he thinks it might be an altar of some kind.

He tells everyone not to look back, but can any of them resist such temptation?
