Dungeon Crawl Classics [CLOSED]
Looking for up to 6 players for a DCC game using Keep on the Borderlands in Mystara’s Karameikos. I’ll be using various resources pertaining to the setting and the adventure itself. Some things will remain the same, some will be different. Would like to have players who have not been through B2, but that’s nigh impossible. For those who have I ask for you to not remember.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
It's funny you say that... I can't remember what I had for breakfast sometimes, or what we were talking about last night before bed, or a thousand other things. What I can remember, though, is every room, monster, trap and treasure for all the modules and books that I own. It could be that I am some kind of enigma - or it could be that I've read them each a thousand times over.
What were we talking about.....?

Good luck with your adventure!

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
By the way, I'm interested in signing up for this if you can kindly share any link or info on what DCC rules are (if dramatically different than 1e).
I would have done this initially, but, well, you know. I forgot

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
I was curious about this myself, and confirmed here that these are the rules she'll be using. I'm thinking the game will be very D&D-esque, based on this:ravenn4544 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 12:05 am ...if you can kindly share any link or info on what DCC rules are...
"Adventure as 1974 intended, with modern rules grounded in the origins of sword & sorcery."
It's about time I put the rules I own (but never read) to use, so count me in.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
Unfortunately, I don't believe there's an SRD for game.
I did, however, find these two downloads available on the Goodman Games site:
- DCC RPG Quick Start Rules (44 pages)
- Dungeon Crawl Classics Role Playing Game (55 pages)
I'm probably going to start with one/both of the above myself, instead of diving into the full rulebook which is almost 500 pages long.

If you do not own the rulebook you can download the Quick Start Rules here:

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
Expressing interest. Are you going to run this as a 0-level funnel? If so, how many characters will we start with?
FYI I have the rules and I have experience playing DCC.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
I was just going to post how unfortunately no, I will not be using the funnel this time. I put a lot of thought into this and decided I wanted this to be similar to d&d starting out. (Unless it’s a staggering unanimous choice from the players)

Three interested players! I feel sooo much better about my decision to do this!
Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
So starting off as 1st-level characters? Which is fine by me by the way,.lich_queen wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 12:53 am I was just going to post how unfortunately no, I will not be using the funnel this time. Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
Sorry!

Not that it really matters since we're not going to be using it, but what is this "0-level funnel" you're referring to?
Sounds interesting.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
A 0-level funnel has everyone playing around 4 0-level characters, pretty much peasants each with a separate background and weapon matching that profession. They are thrown into a dangerous situation and die off till the player has one, or two, characters that survive. This character is then elevated to 1st level of whichever class you want (save the demihumans as they are race as class).
Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
First, DCC is sort of a hybrid between d20 and B/X. It uses the Race as Class system as well as ascending DC. DCC is much more but for the purposes of this discussion I'm trying to keep it simple. So for games using the 0-level funnel, you randomly create 4 characters to start the game. Purple Sorcerer Games actually created a web site for players to actually randomly create their 4 starting characters quickly. You then use these 4 characters to complete the first adventure. Yes, character mortality is high. You are not guaranteed to even have 1 of the 4 survive. It happens. If one does survive, you get to choose the character class if human. Otherwise Race as Class. If 2 or more somehow survive, you choose which one you want to advance to 1st level. If none survive, you create a new 1st level character from scratch. Its fun as long as you don't get attached to any of the characters. Thats why its best to roll them randomly and just assign a name.
Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
I believe this, so I'm not even remotely suggesting (or even hinting) that we should use it in this game, but that funnel does sound pretty cool.lich_queen wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 12:53 am I put a lot of thought into this and decided I wanted this to be similar to d&d starting out.
I'm definitely going to want to try sometime.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
In all these years, I have never once played through B2. B1? A million times. I can close my eyes and see the map.
But somehow B2 has always escaped me.
I'd really enjoy the chance, if you have room. Is there an expected posting rate?

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
I would like to give it a try if there is still room. After reading Paladin's post I tried to remember the adventure (I know I read it multiple times 30-40 years ago), but beyond there being a keep and some caves the I have no details.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics [Recruiting]
I’ve got the room so welcome! Posting rate… I’d like to see two a week if possible, but I can live with one a week. I think the posting rate will be an organic thing in time. I expect some slow posting throughout the near holidays.
