The VP replies “Maybe a new face might might be able to deal with the soldiers? Make 'em some kind of offer an' not be immediately recognised. See once you're inside... Well, we have a free hand inside our own berms – 's in the deal. We do whatever we like an' they don't mind or care”.

Figures. You don’t capture Type T’s in a flyin’ condition, an the Navy don’t sell ‘em to just anyone. Gotta be made. Or

He snarks "Ayup – workin' with them... Damn, but if'n it just ain't right!"

He rambles "As to what Hearn Sarhan's here to buy for his war on Singer that he just can't get almost anywhere else is annoyin' me no end..."

He says "Sergei and his crew of psychos here?" He instinctively drains his drink and, momentarily irritated, pours himself a refill. He laughs and seems to rally “They'd have to be crazier than shithouse rats!”

Jess relaxes with her drink and looks around the club.

Yer right, I ought ter work the room a bit, when 'er Ladyship gets restless.

So, who's who in 'ere? Anyone I c'n deal with? Anyone with answers to yer questions I c'n schmooze?

He states “Well, I happen to know Nazareth run a fine range of secondhand ship supplies and have a couple of crates of Collace standard military vision aids, at least a dozen good vacc suits – used but good, an enclosed air raft an' a prospectin' buggy. Tell 'em I sent you an' you'll get discount!”

He goes on "If you bump one table along and want to be ignored while hearing boring stories of how many G's they've shrunk their junk with go see the fighter jocks from Viper's Nest".

He then adds “Honey, if you go outta here an' turn left then you better come back!” He adds venomously “I'd be damned if I gave those Imperial ductsuckers on Deliverance the steam off've my sheeet! You wanna meet their pimps? Run along and see the spooks on Saxon an' tell 'em I know their game!” He laughs at his own wit then ends with “Apart from the wannabe pirates on Drachenfels the other side of this place just has booths with the local A list in tonight. They party pretty hard here. Hearn Sarhan's over there too”.

He indicates the three Marshals you met earlier making their way along the far side of the stage (relevant to you) “Dammit, more Imperial scum”.

Kit / Gel

Gel continues to stand guard both wishing that something would happen and hoping that nothing does.

Kit

Kit cranes his neck as covertly as he can and notices that another hostess is serving a cheeseboard. Finally steering herself his way she states "Here - cheese". From the voids on the platter the Abyss crew seem to have just eaten entire smaller cheeses that they either liked or, quite possibly, weren't scared by. The same is true of the crackers/biscuits but fortunately a choice remains and there are both softer cheeses and slices off some bigger (hard and blue) cheeses to be had.

He notices the band are coming back on after a break. He notes that the female vocalist collects some mirror shades as a prop for the next song. They start to tune up.

Kit / Gel

Gel continues to stand guard both wishing that something would happen and hoping that nothing does.

Prerna sees “Marshals” Slow, Whitfield and Jones enter the next door booth (to your right/north) currently containing Secretary Vladimir Mikhailov, Liv and Viktor Solonik. It seems they can't see you as they transit across the face of your booth via the access path between booths and central (anti grav) stage. Jones is unreadable as ever (possibly disdainful?) but the skeletal Whitfield seems to be near atremble with some suppressed emotion as he grasps his medical bag while Slow wears an entirely joyous look of anticipation.

Beyond the Marshals she also sees two guys in street clothes come out of the kitchen doors and look about the bar.

Kit sees what Jess does and, because he's also looking to the rear of the booth, notes an attractive girl run down the stairs from the space above the dining area. She is good looking but clearly fearful and managing to barely cover her modesty with a bundle of her clothing and a fistful of Imperial credits. She heads for what might be a staff exit from the booth.

Distractingly he sees a guy emerge from the staff kitchen door and into the bar area. At first glance his clothing and manner seem... off.

While she is busy noticing Kit apparently noticing things Jess sees that VP is approached by an attractive girl wearing a red corset over skintight black. She has her hair pinned up in a severe “up-do”. She enters the booth carrying a tray and sashays over to the VP. Her salver bears a shot of Junk Daniels which she hands over. The VP necks it as she purrs “Message for you”. The VP holds up his comm for a tap transaction but is surprised to be physically handed a sealed note. The messenger states “I'll wait and steps back”.

The New Moscow ska band kick off their second set. A violin intro leads into strident sax and then the female vocalist, accompanied by both, launches into a verse apparently penned in admiration of someone called Sobchak (apparaently an Avastan media celeb) and their very fine sunglasses...

While Kit has some sympathy for the girl running down the stairs, he keeps his eye on the ball which is backing up Jess. However, putting a strong belief in first impressions he takes a much long glance at the guy coming out of the staff kitchen door. He would like be able to identify him from a line-up so takes a longer look while coming to the other staff to find out what is off with him and if it is important . . .

Gaughan looks up from his cards and says "Sure that's a nice wee tent she's made there. Very... ah... Aslan so it is".

The female aslan is setting up serial light blue "screens" marked with clan symbols around the "Aslan area" designated for the unit's onboard allies.

Frank smiles "It certainly looks impressive. I must admit that I don't understand the Aslan that well, but I am glad that I've never had to fight them and that they are on our side"

After a short while Secretary Vladimir Mikhailov and Viktor Solonik make a hasty exit from their booth and head out back towards искусство (art) [the nicer next bar down].

Following the erection of the privacy screen of opaque silk nothing much seems to happen. The female aslan apparently potters about enjoying her new privacy and possibly burns some incense - as per a change in fragrance about the adjacent area.

Time passes and the tides of fickle fortune ebb and flow among the card school. Meanwhile those on the troop deck not taking side bets on the main game divert themselves with wagers on the direction of travel of the ground port service vehicles visible through their "periscope". Others vape, eat or sleep. Some put redundant finishing touches to already clean and prepped gear and weapons in an effort to pass the time.



Then the hunting roar of a male aslan dominates the troop deck.

Attempting to ooze calm, Frank stands and scans the room for the reaction of the troops.

"It would appear our Aslan allies are awake"

Then the hunting roar of a male aslan dominates the troop deck.

The effect on those about her reflects her own deep seated innate reaction to the penetrating sound. Dougal spills both his snacks and carbonated beverage and, eyes wide, Florence screams in absolute terror.

The nearby McClellan crew stampede for the bridge and attempt to lock themselves in. A competition as desperate as it is comedic (and unaesthetically pleasing) ensues between the First Mate attempting to seal the bridge iris valve shut from the inside and the armed yet naked Purser who, having bolted out of the fresher and being quicker to the bioscanned "button", constantly thwarts his efforts from outside whilst alternating demands to be let in with threats against the First Mate.

Frank

The adrenalising effect on those that haven't been exposed before allows Frank to at least look cooler than others. Gaughan recoils enough to carry his chair over but he swiftly recovers to rise with his rifle trained on the source of the threat. Indeed, all of the rangers (who are the "ready" squad) arm themselves and charge their rifles.

Across the troop deck a couple of cots go over and items are dropped in the immediate surprise and confusion but the mercs respond by arming themselves either with sidearms or mostly blades from those Collace born. Those with rifles to hand take aim at the aslan "tent".

The female aslan moves the screens expertly redeploying them to make four open "bays" (like an extended "E" shape). Each contains one of the massive (and now open) "coffins" and a crate. Her actions reveal four male aslan and a distinct musky smell of predator. The aslan are big - each well over 2m tall and equally "massive". The four wear silk tabbards bearing their clan heraldry of a setting sun. They eye the now mostly armed mercs on the troop deck. It seems that, if they are calculating them, then they don't mind the odds.

Another low drawn out throaty growl sounds and one of the aslan males, distinctive by a forearm mounted device equipped with one button, swats it with a massive paw. It translates the words he reads off the device's screen into galanglic "Greetings from The Twilight herself. In her wisdom she foresaw when we would be needed". The prompted script then disappears and, now unscripted, the aslan demands "Where are the enemy?" At this last the three aslan with him brace up and seem expectant.

Frank has absolutely no recollection of any plan that the aslan would "defrost" except upon demand and so this event must be as a result of either local initiative or orders given prior to departure from Collace.

(OOC: If Frank can claim or access any knowledge or expertise in dealing with aslan now's likely the time... )

The unseemly and unprofessional charge for the bridge is amusing.

You two - check that wasn't something that kitty has spotted that you should have seen coming. I'll go see whether that was a warning or just their idea of a joke! You can shut the door behind me if you want.

Gathering her bravery, her drone and her rifle, Freya will head towards the sound source trying to appear far more nonchalant than she feels.

It is at this point that Freya really wishes that there was a Language (Trokh) translation package in her computer - and hopes that no one can see how much she feels she is the imposter, just pretending to be brave.

Wandering strangely empty corridors she eventually finds someone...Where did that noise come from?

Jess, seeing the bounty hunters indicated by the VP, Kit’s attention drawn away and then the note arriving, feels her scars itch. Trouble’s coming.

Commenting, half to the VP, half to herself, as her hand goes to her neck to scratch under her scarf: Knew those three was nuthin’ but bad news, moment I saw ‘em. she flicks her eyes along the table, checking the location of the long-guns again, assessing which she can reach (hoping for the ACR, happy with the AK), planning her exit route, then checking on Sugar.

How y’doin’ Hun? Got yer wits about yer? Bands playin’, might be time ter dance any second.
