Sun Tsieng Roy
responds to Sir Dewey.
"I will enter. It would be an honour to compete." he bows formally. You can tell he is very out of his depth culture wise but is eager to learn.
"I came a few days ago, drawn by the stories of the Barrow Moor. I heard of skeletons twice the height of a man walking as in life, spirits of ancestors infused in rock and stone, demons from the Abyss and a
revival of ancient woes.
How much is true I do not know. Songs embellish much as they travel East."
He is staying in common rooms at the tavern and engaged in various Helix Labour tasks to make ends meet.

Axe and Anvil
Savant
Savant goes to the axe and anvil. He's hoping to trade the damaged chainmail and his current armor for some banded mail.

Re: Helix village.
The Axe and Anvil Forge
Kord the armourer takes a look at the chainmail taken from Reuben and the scale mail outfit that you currently use. He appraises them.
"Banded mail we can do but you need a tailored fitting so we can shape the carapaces and torso breastplate, shingle the underarms and skirt your groin. It will take the best part of a week to craft. We can do a shade of blue like the clouds on a stormy day or blushed red like a poppy with fades over the back and sides. Nice tanning and buffs up a dull shine. Or simple wood green or barkskin effect? That'll be 99gp.
Now trading in this old stuff. Spares and repair. Okay, not seen much action but some point work and mending. I wouldn't be able to give you more than 45gp for the pair."
He gives a routine offer which you can accept or try to barter better terms with a charisma check [4d6] vs Cha.
Savant thinks and responds.

If I go for the check and fail, do I lose the current offer?

Re: Helix village.
Too be clear, I'd be happy to hand them the chainmail as collateral, but would love to hold onto my current armor until I pick up the better stuff?
Re: Helix village.
ok. So they take the old chainmail and a 25gp deposit to work on some banded mail. In a couple of weeks you can come back and negotiate the extra 50gp outstanding amount.

Fantastic, thanks!

The Rosy Quartz
May 10
Eldon collected his amphora and ivory handled dagger and headed over to the Rosy Quartz the following morning. He tied Sarge's leash to the door handle and entered the shop and greeted the man behind the counter. "Good day! I was wondering if you could appraise these items. I might even be willing to part with them for the right price."

Re: Helix village.
The Rosy Quartz
Eldon sets a sack on the counter. He slides the sack down to reveal a tall clay amphora. The halfling also removes a curved dagger from his belt and places it upon the counter next to the jar. His runs his fingers across the intricate details carved in to the ivory handle. "Pretty neat, huh? I can get my hands on more of these jars if they are of any value or interest." He shifts nervously from foot to foot. "What are they worth?"

Re: Helix village.
The Rosy Quartz Jewellers & Moneylenders.
The bespectacled gnome proprietor outs in his thick lens glasses to inspect the jar, almost sticking his nose to it. He 'hmms', 'tuts' and and makes a few other groans.
He finds a tuning fork and taps the jar edge, listening to the hollow clink.
"Interesting. More eh? Well it is certainly old. The shape nicely formed, fat bottomed, slim waist, long neck. Ah!, Sounds like a strumpet from the Pheasant. Well, this one is an old crone but worth a little. I could take a risk and offer 22gp. No more really. Best value is exported to the citadel but always a risk it may fracture in transport."
He looks at the nice. "Ivory. Not seen much of that type. Boar tusks and horn but this is elephantine. Blade is fine. Needs to be sharpened, balanced.
Poke a goblin with it did you? Looks a strange design. Maybe common to a tribe or sect. The curve is for close quarters." he does a few swishes and faux hacks.
"Daggers are cheap, functional. This rare one though probably worth much more. Let me this, I can call it 40 gold for the pair.
How does that sound young man?"
Eldon you can accept the offers or bargain a better deal with a charisma check.

Re: Helix village.
Eldon shuffled his feet some more and chuckled politely at the gnome's description of the jar. "Yes, fragile indeed. But someone like yourself is far too experienced to let that hinder making a profit. Certainly you have the proper packing materials to reduce such risks. Surely items this old are worth more than that to you."

Re: Helix village.
checks are a 4d6 vs Cha.
Eldon plays in the amphora jar's possible retail value exported to Ironguard. The gnome huffs and puffs a little more.
"Well, we are both enterprising entrepreneurs for sure. I can see a market in Ironguard, the villa owning merchants would fawn over this most likely at the auctions.
I tell you what, I will give you five gold more. Not as much as you hoped but it sweetens the deal. Five gold ... No? Six then, final offer. Seven! Be off with you, robbing a poor merchant more than the tax man. Okay seven it is."
Eldon you can sell the ivory bine dagger and your amphora for +47gp.

Re: Helix village.
Noted. Guess I have too much 5e in my line up at the moment :p
Eldon begins wrapping up his items at the gnomes first counter offer, but is satisfied when he hastily revised the amount. The halfling pushed the items back to the gnome and accepting the pile of gold on the counter. "We will be back with more in a few days." He retrieved Sarge outside at the door and made his way to the next stop on his list, the Mercenary Guild.
Re: Helix village.
it is from my house rules. So I use a 3d6 check for normal and increase d6's for difficulty vs the ability or stat you are using.Noted. Guess I have too much 5e in my line up at the moment :p

Re: Helix village.
The Old Mill
Savant
Savant finds the old mill without too much trouble and is able to locate Hendon. Truthfully an exotic looking elf standing around, obviously looking for something means people find him.
"Greetings. I am Savant. I was with the group that Tamson accompanied to the barrows a bit ago. Our last discovery was more worthwhile than expected. We were hoping Tamson would help us again. His performance was admirable. Simpler this time too. Back to the place we were, load up, come back. Back in one day.
He hands a small bag to Hendon. The top is loose and Hendon can clearly see the sparkle of gold.
"Should it be profitable again, I will make sure Tamson gets another bonus. Where is the lad?"
The bag held 5gp. Savant knows that charisma can be purchased under the right circumstances, and probably wasn't necessary here, but it was the first time, so no harm.
Also took gold out for special horse tack.
