OOC
Re: OOC
Don't heed my rambled mutterings - I'm just jealous of Kar's skill diversity!
In fairness Raven has some flexibility to her one trick pony show. She has an entire skill level in a different outfit whilst still being able to optimally kill anything in front of her from melee to extreme range. However, in terms of a spread of skills I fear it's the equivalent to having a different "skin" for a shoot 'em up game...

I see everyone has woken up! Summer must be at an end.......Winter is coming and all that.
I do like Remington's idea regarding Ripley. But perhaps another scene could be Ripley getting blood poisoning leading to amnesia after another tattoo adventure?
God knows where he would end up.
And welcome to the crew Bluetongue.

Re: OOC
I just made it through all the Marduk posts I missed. It's going to be fun explaining why exactly Remington did so much nothing when Raven called for... whatever it was she expected Remington to do there. Also, has Remington acquired a trainee? Are you sure you want so many strange people hanging out in engineering?
Re: OOC
I edited my last IC post down for length but Raven's now caught in a dilemma.
She demanded a miracle but Remington didn't appear to do anything overtly "magical" - not that she was really watching. The trouble is Raven doesn't know how he would "abjure the temple's sorcery" - she just makes un/reasonable demands! However, shortly after her order for magical reinforcement the warband escaped from no less than two mythical sea beasts and stole away a priestess to boot. This was, by any measure, "miraculous"!!!
Furthermore to fit the "saga" narrative, Remington (deployed in the field as Raven's personal shaman) must surely have made a contribution??? That is unless Raven wants to admit to certain facts that she might not want made public... Therefore, I believe Remington may have just one upped her in their game of faith and bluff!

Continuing on the topic of "Stuff Raven has no real handle on" I suspect the "priestess" has a raft of cybertech skills commensurate with communicating with "kraken".
Annnd some other "green force" is also in the mix as per the radio intercepts...

Only one Kraken. They are very big, and the tentacles are very long. You saw the tips of three limbs, the one by the bridge belonged to the same creature.
I won't intervene on any other suppositions. Until someone acts on them.

Re: OOC
This is purely a subjective reading, but I've been taking the green comms to be the surviving militia. Who exactly they're radioing reports to I don't have a sense of, but what they're reporting seems like the type of thing a militia would care about.
I suppose Remington will have to break out the bullshit! I mean, it's not like the rest of the crew can tell actual technobabble from mystic technobabble.

Re: OOC
It's interesting but I think there's two local radio sources. Also Rubati was communicating with the kraken - which may have also been speaking to other kraken???
The first speak Skaeping Marduk and seem local from their given location (west is the mountain where the locals hide out) and because they know Rubati. So these guys are the local militia/townsfolk? Or maybe folk watching the townsfolk?
"Ship lift off. A contract. Small ship still hovering. Outside". Source: radio just to the west is broadcasting in a different dialect to the one the serpent has learned. [Wed Aug 04, 2021 8:43 pm]
Then:
"Great One is coming". It is followed by another, quiter utterance, apparently an aside spoken to someone in the room rather than intended for transmission: "Rubati must have escaped". [Sun Aug 08, 2021 10:49 pm]
However we also picked up this:
in a different dialect to the Skeaping Marduk: "Dragon ship flashing lights, like merchant ships". [Sun Oct 10, 2021 7:52 pm]
Does the different dialect indicate a different group?

Re: OOC
For clarity: All three of the above were the same voice, transmitting from the same device/place, and yes, the dialect is different to the local Skeaping one. Which is why the translation is even worse than the slight mangling Rubati's words got. Good job they used short phrases
I had too much fun provoking interesting translations.
Another update in composition.

Three days travel between Marduk Prime and Blackrock? You should be able to fit at least one feast inTiglath » Mon Nov 15, 2021 1:54 am
However, we may not yet have time to turn to feasting”.

Re: OOC
Only if you let yourselves be.
A raider with a full hold is free to leave. It is presumed they will go straight home, as being the first ship back with a good haul is a thing to be proud of. It is not unknown (though rare) for a ship to have such a rich haul it needs to unload some prisoners and/or cargo that Oghma can't use, so a trade trip to Blackrock first isn't too unusual. If the surplus is exchanged for useful things, that might make up for falling a day or two behind.
A poor raid usually means staying with the fleet to try again at Borite, but sometimes a ship or two go off alone to try their luck away from the pack.
You could also cite special orders from Hallsteinn and strike off alone. That is true, but you might not want to share the information openly.

Re: OOC
I owe an update, I know, but I'm using the bandwidth to develop the character of a new player.
I'll post something soon, promise

Re: OOC
New players hip hooray!
No rush - I'm fashioning a response to Bluetongue's very thought provoking last.
Is your roof still on post Arwen?
I was full on Red Warning zone but escaped (clearly by divine or infernal intervention...) but the village looks like the Luftwaffe have been...

Re: OOC
Was that called Arwen? Cute. Tricksy it was. Got out of bed last night to sort out the garden furniture I'd forgotten about on the sea (weather) side of the house. This morning the land (sheltered) side was in disarray. Fun times finding the bins and collecting the furniture on that side.
No damage though. Some small branches down and a lost bin lid.
Nearly got blown off a cliff walking the dog. Well, had to put effort into walking upright anyway.
New character will join next time the ship stops, so I ought to do better about updating.

Re: OOC
Developing the new character, we have established that in recent years the Ásgeirr clan have introduced a social media platform to share knowledge among the fleet. Commonly known as Raider Book and Space Book, the linked platforms allow Warriors and Corsairs to upload notable feats. The idea is that everyone learns from success. The brief fad for "fails" was shut down within weeks because of the violent objection of those featured.
If anyone has a moment to select from the recent raid, Angrboða will cache your contributions for vetting back on Oghma.

Lovely to have you back!
How the notifications actually work is a dark and shrouded mystery. They come immediately, late and sometimes not at all...
If things seem quiet then it's always worth having a butcher's just in case the gremlins have got in!

Or, keep a tab open with the index page of the game and refresh regularly.
Because, yes, notifications are godlike in the mystery of their movements.
