Darklin

A disembodied voice now.

This is a pretty cool spell. We will have to spend some time trading spells. This would be a pretty cool one to learn. I have a few you may be interested in. Allissa at the Hi-Lo told me you had started a Mage's Guild, but I could never find out where you all had been meeting up to swap spells.

To The Dwarves
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Overcast, Warm, Buggy

Darklin agrees to be subject to another mages magic, enjoying the end results nearly as much as the senior wizard who cast the spells. He questions Chauncey about any other spells he might be willing to share, inquiring about his guild as well.

With all but Wes now unseen to the naked eye, the group appears ready to depart the future Clifftown, if that is really what it will eventually be called. The foursome debate whether they should take the river trail, but soon remember that they need to join up with Chwee at the loggers shack, so they decide to head back to Beachtown via the beach trail instead.

They get as far as the disturbance in the sand where they think the sea monster dwells in an abandoned underwater scrag cave, the sand in this area still mussed and uneven. They look around for a moment but detect no sign of danger. Maybe the sea monster cant see them either?

Grimm

"Be careful with the sea monster. Let's keep our distance from the water, just in case, and walk faster. Can those things smell what's outside the water?" Despite keeping his attention mainly focused on the water, Grimm knows better and also looks at the jungle, lest any danger come from an unexpected place.

"Walk in an irregular pattern", suggests Wes. "If the monster is picking up the vibrations of footsteps, walking in s slow, irregular pattern might confuse it".

Not one to ignore Wesley's advice on outdoorsy matters, the path of Chauncey's foot prints suddenly becomes quite erratic. His voice, however, continues as if he were standing still and having a civil discussion.

"Yes, Darklin, assuredly. Being quite a generous sort, I am always willing and enthusiastic as regards sharing magical knowledge," he says, "This sharing, of course, is done strictly on a one for one basis - an even exchange. I find this method has the benefit of promoting exploration and discovery of new material. Of course, any new knowledge we find together shall belong to us both equally. In short, I should be pleased to look over what spells you possess and let you peruse my selection for a trade."
Darklin does have spells that Chauncey would be quite interested in learning. 8-)
"As regards the Guild, you are currently, er... not regarding, as it were – due to invisibility – the founding member. As The Most Powerful Magic User On the Island, I am also the head of the guild, Master of Sea and Stone being my honorific. There used to be.... you see... at one time..." Here he trails off before continuing again after a brief pause. "Strange, I have the oddest notion that there used to be another member, yet this is demonstrably untrue. I am the only member so far. Probably a sensation caused by emanations from the Etherial? It is hard to say. At any rate, once we are back at headquarters, so to speak, we may discuss your application to said guild."

Watch the jungle too. The last time my group came through here there was some kind of baboon creature in the trees trying to ambush us. And that big Octopus or Squid is always looking for a easy meal.

I am most honored to meet you Chauncey. I have been inquiring about the guild for some time but no one seemed to know much about it. With everyone away all the time exploring the jungles the only one who knew anything was Allissia at the Hi-Lo and she didn't know much. But we should definitely compare books when we have time.

To The Dwarves
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Overcast, Warm, Buggy

The group takes the advice of the druid, their only visible member, and begins walking slowly and sporadically through the sand. They reach the other side without incident, unsure if the unorthodox technique worked or not.

The final leg of their return to Beachtown goes by uneventfully and the scene around town appears normal. Other than a larger than usual contingency of Stoneguts gathered at their rock building at the head of the loggers trail, town is as dull and quiet as ever. It’s almost like nothing ever happens around here. :?

Anything you want to do here before heading….wait…..where are you going again? Please only use your knowledge of what is about to happen to these people for humorous reasons. And remember that most of you are invisible.

Wes

"The last thing we need is for those dwarves to see us as we walk by on the trail. Well, see me anyway. Even if they let me by, they'll surely send the word out to their patrols and back to their mine."

"We should cut through the jungle behind the town and join up with the trail later."

"Makes sense." The dwarf seems a little tense by the presence of the Stoneguts warriors.

Sounds like we need to stick to the harder packed areas other wise we leave prints behind. I am ready unless we want to take cover in my tent for a while there are a couple things I need to get just incase these Dwarves decide to destroy the village. Maybe wait for some of them to leave.

Concerned about leaving prints in the sand, the group wisely stays away from the more populated areas and steers clear of the dwarves at the end of the trail.

Wes leads them into the jungle instead, walking through an area between Raythan's log home and Liam's farmette. They eventually find the loggers trail again several hundred yards north of the dwarves where the area looks clear. One thing is for certain. The party might be mostly unseen, but the noise they make trudging through the jungle is quite noticeable.

Heading towards the loggers shack and their proposed meeting with Chwee, Wes and the Invisibles starts to hear a loud commotion coming towards them from up the trail. It sounds like several people marching, accompanied by the heavy footfalls of the giant lizards as well.

Wes

"If that's not a Stonegut patrol, I don't know what else it could be." says Wes. He nods towards the undergrowth on the right. "Time to take cover". He slips into the heavy growth, using his druidic skills to quickly slip about forty feet back from the trail, then takes cover behind a tree.

Something big is coming down the trail. Hit the jungle, get in there about 30 feet. If it can smell we won't be able to hide from it.

He jumps into the bush using his elven skills to hide. Remaining motionless.

To The Dwarves?
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth

The party wisely gets off the trail and hides in the jungle. Anyone who stays close enough to watch sees a line of marching dwarves go by accompanied by 4 of the huge green lizards dragging sleds filled with black rock. A second smaller contingency of heavily armored dwarves brings up the rear of the caravan.

They march by and will soon be out of sight unless the group wishes to intervene.

Grimm

The dwarf has conflicted feelings when he sees some members of his own race, the only ones he has met so far in this island, and thinks of the bad example they're giving. He hopes he'll be able to change that.

But now he prefers to remain hidden and quite to avoid being heard.

Wes

Once the Stoneguts have moved well away, Wes moves back to the trail. "Grimm? Where are you? I'd suggest we move in stages. We can stop every once in a while to take stock of our surroundings. So we don't walk straight into an ambush by a large beast".

"Remember, animals can smell all of you even if they can't see you".

"Hmmm. This black rock they harvest intrigues me. I should like to examine some of it if we get the chance," says Chauncey.

He will follow Wesley's instructions, skittering from hiding spot to hiding spot as they proceed, only noted by a puff of dust here or the bending of a leaf there. Mr. Wrenly follows at treetop level.
