Julia is busy dealing with the paperwork after the impromptu lunch provided by Gabby and her family. Shortly after Jason's love interest leaves, there is a phone call. This is nothing unusual in and of itself, of course, but when she hangs up she looks a little worried. She pages you all to the lobby and once you are gathered up she spills the beans. The mayor wants to see you this afternoon. He is sending a car to come pick you up later when you are back from the commercial shoot, he said it would be here 5ish.
New Brownie Point Pool shows Spending so far from the previous Firehouse Thread. All of these threads will be merged for Phase two of all this later, I will keep things as up to date across the threads as I can but might be all calculated at the "wrap up"

Lionel "Freight Train" Williams
Oh, man. He is not gonna be happy. Can I take back what I said earlier about the day getting better? I really need to find somewhere to be so I miss that meeting... He sighs, resigned to his fate. Well, you don't play football very long if you can't handle an ass-chewing. At least he isn't gonna make us run laps. He looks at Julia. He can't make us run laps, can he?

The Mayor's Office
September 11, 2018 5:05pm
Nice out! Cool and cloudy, beginning to rain steadily
If anyone else wants in on this, just jump in.
Julia is pages the team to let them know the car has arrived before she goes into the breakroom, her regular hours over for the day.
When you get outside, there is a slick-looking black Crystler that is so no descript it couldn't be anything else but a government car, even if it is only for the small city. They easily fit inside and the driver seems friendly and professional enough. Not saying much past the usual greetings as he begins pulling out from the curb where he picked you up just as it begins to rain a little, the sky darkening as the sun too, begins to set.
Once you arrive at City Hall a short time later, the streets are wet and the drainage on either side flowing with water from the gentle rain. As you step out the thunder rolls, you cannot help but notice most of the building seems dark as most people have gone home for the day. Even the lobby is empty and dim. The driver informs you he will wait for you here, and you are allowed to see yourselves inside.
Once there, most of the lights are off and it is a quiet ride up the elevator to the 5th floor where the Mayor's Office is located. Once the doors open, that lobby is dark too other than the middle-aged secretary, Nancy is going over some after-hours work. She looks up and smiles tiredly as she picks up the phone. Mr. Sanders, the Ghostbusters are here to see you. Yes, sir. she hangs up and pushes a hidden button to release an electronic lock on the old double doors. He's waiting for you inside.
As you open the door and walk in, the back of the Mayor's chair is to you. He is there, you can just make out the top of his head and see the hand holding a cigar to the side. There is a puff of smoke exhaled slowly as he appears to be looking out the window at the rain. The only light in the room is from a desk lamp, another floor lamp in one corner that does little to light the room, and the ember of his cigar before the lightning flashes and another roll of thunder slowly rumbles, making even the floor beneath your feet rattle as if in fear.
They Mayor is silent a long moment. Then...
Please, shut the door behind you...

Lionel "Freight Train" Williams
As they walk through the darkened building, seemingly empty of all but the mayor and his secretary, the former football player gets a bad feeling about what they may be walking into. Great, no witnesses, he says quietly to his companions. Good thing Julia knows we had this meeting if we suddenly turn up missing.
As he hears the mayor's command, Lionel gives a quick glance into the corners of the room, making sure there is nobody hiding anywhere. This sure feels like they are walking to their doom, he thinks, as he closes the door and cutting off all contact with the world outside the office.

Roy tries not to look nervous as the door is shut and he decides it is best to probably stand rather than sit. He puts on his best smile to the mayor and prays in his mind that this is going to go over very well, and hopes nothing bad happens.

Joker
Joker has been dreading this- especially since he feels like he was the creator of most of the chaos involved in the last operation. Oddly, he starts to grin as the group arrives at City Hall- and his grin widens as the scene proceeds.
I'm sure I have seen this movie- many times.... he chuckles.

Jason has been trying to remain calm during the ride over, but had been mentally running nonstop, trying to fill out the edges of his hunch.
I dont really know if that was a joke Mac...

I know this meeting is technically before some of the other threads but I am choosing to save this until a little later until we get some of these smaller threads done. Plus i love keeping you in suspense.

On an up note... Julia just sent the team a text that the rental has just arrived at the Firehouse and is packed around back behind the Firehouse. Timing is everything, right? Good job on the rolls Ed.
There is another big puff of blue smoke from the other side of the chair, and the intermittent lightning is enough for you to catch the Mayor's distorted reflection in the old glass window behind his desk. You can't help but notice the big white hat sitting on his desk. No one can recall a time they have seen him with it off. I always loved the rain. So soothing to the soul. And when we get the storms like this in the fall and the spring? There is just something about the power of the wind, the lightning, and the thunder you can really feel in the air. By God, I love it... you see the hot ember on the end of his cigar as he take another long drag on his tobacco. Lionel... you're a local boy... you know what I am saying right?
She sighs out the rest of his breath and lets the smoke drift upward in another blue cloud as the thunder slowly, lowly, rumbles again. I tell you... I feel change on the air. Big change. And I think you are all right smack dab in the middle of it just like I had planned. Speaking of plans... 601 North E Street. Owned by Buck Hrumph... now a customer of yours, and did you know a little bird told me he is already working with his attorney to sue the pants off you? I hear things like this you see... Perk of the job... well... Perk of influences might be more to the point... What do you think of that? I told you to steer clear of that job, didn't I? Interfering with long-term plans is never a good idea, no sir. Not in this town. There are plans that have been in place for decades that you are walking into. Gotta be careful when meddling with plans. Don't you agree Gentlemen?
The room is cold.

Well, a few points Mr. Mayor. First, the team was already on site dealing with things there when we last talked. We got a text saying they needed help. We were not about to leave our teammates in danger. Also, I remember you saying we had misunderstood when we thought you said we should stay away. So, which is it- did you tell us not to bust any ghosts we might find there, or did we misunderstand you and we should have done what we did?

The mayor laughs put loud and whirls around in his chair, reaching over to turn on a desk lamp. Nah! Nah, sir! Hahaha! You boys took care of things better than I ever could have!
That man has been a burr in my bonnet for a long time, not selling that lot to me... now... now!
He is out! Haha! He'll be nice and ready to sell now after that damage. That place is good as mine now, and at a discount. You boys did good! Real good.

Roy brow furrowed raises his hand briefly "So let me get this straight sir, er um Mayor. We're good then? The damage was not in our control entirely, there were more powerful forces there than us. But I won't bore you with the details. Has anyone ever told you that you look like Burt Reynolds?" he ends trying to attempt a bit of flattery.

Lionel looks at everyone, confusedly. When they walked into the building, he was somewhat concerned they might be getting murdered! And now...congratulated? Somewhere along the way, he may have missed something. Soooo...you're not mad at us? I'm confused. With nobody around and it being darkish, I kinda thought we might be going to our own execution. No witnesses, and all. Pretty silly, huh? He chuckles nervously, still not convinced there will be no retaliation.

Mayor Sanders chuckled and took a big puff off his cigar. Nonsense! You boys are the man... men, of the hour! You did more for me in an hour's work than I could have accomplished in another 3 months of wheeling and dealing with that hardhead, Hrumph. Now... about that little lawsuit he is pushing on you? You don't worry about that. He's gonna find himself tied up and settled in no time. Now, I also got wind of what happened with your little... automobile incident... These things happen and I've already made sure that was all taken care of too. I think you boys are going to be happy with the results. I have my personal body man taking care of the work on that... Gonna look slick!
Now... What else are you boys up to? I want in. You've done me good, and I want to take care of you. I knew hiring you boys was a good idea. he is grinning like the Cheshire cat...
