Re: Founding Clifftown
Wow, folks, I'm out for a couple hours and the thread is full of posts. We definitely have to split in several quests
Elnaerel
Elnaerel almost reacts to the Princess' actions in the same way as her, but also maintains her composure. She is talking to royalty, after all.
Then the resolute elven cleric, arms akimbo, starts thinking on the options that are presented by the different adventures. "If you ask me, I think killing that beast on the beach should be our first priority. People should be able to come from town without being killed or injured by that monster. Imagine they're fleeing from the dwarves and it appears on the beach. How terrible!
Scouting the east and getting some lizards are also important missions, but that's something I would do after this. If some of you set up to do that, I might look for you and join you once the monster is dead...
That said, I need a weapon. I lost my morningstar to that sticky mummy and I'm not that proficient with a wooden club. Do you think Nalisha could have one?
One more thing, if we go for that monster, Keyon is right. We should attack it from a distance. But perhaps Feanol can put it to sleep with one of her wondrous spells?
We should rest until tomorrow morning, so I can make my prayers and ask for Ehlenestra's favour before we depart.
Where is Nalisha? I don't think she might have moved her entire store here, right?"
If Nalisha is still in Beachtown, it's probably a better idea for Elnaerel to visit her after having dealt with the beast, since she plans to attack it with her slingshot anyway.
But if she's in Clifftown, she will look for her and try to buy a morningstar from her.

Re: Founding Clifftown
The Princess
She turns to take in Sister Princess Amun. "Cloud gnome? Clan?" The Princess looks for assistance in translating from someone, then addresses Amun. "Good to meet you, Amun. Abandoned, you say? How dreadful." She frowns in sympathy, then smiles gently. "No, I'm not of Island or cast out. I came here on purpose to find and retrieve my sister. Things have spiraled from there. But I'm glad you found us, being alone sounds horrible."
The Princess bows graciously to The Knife, trying to spot any vapor-like qualities to him. What a strange title, imagine asking people to call you a noun. "Oh good, so you know a bit of the area. That will help." She pauses as he starts talking to himself. "Ah. I see. How interesting, Mr. The Knife. But yes, hunting would be quite useful.
"We didn't actually find the kraken when we came over, some ridges yes, but they were just sand. Who has actually seen the kraken? What did it look like?" She addresses Elnaerel. "Nallissa is still in beachtown, after we get things sorted here, we'll see about moving. The problem is that the tower, the treehouse, and the hi-lo are all decent structures that are there to support the dock. We'd need a dock here in order to fully move the businesses."

Luther
Luther watches The Knife's antics, baffled. He soon shrugs. I'm not going to do any scouting or hunting until morning. This island is too wild to risk being caught out after dark- unless you're well-prepared.
I quit reading all the threads a while back, so some of this is ME trying to understand.
Luther admires the flying carpet- and if allowed, stands on it while levitating to judge his footing.
A weapon to defeat undead- Outstanding! I wonder if we could tackle the King and Queen under the temple with it?
-Later-
What are these plaques? I don't think I've ever heard of such.

Feanol
Keg, I think you get one draw unless the deck tells you to draw more.
"Well killing a sea creature can be done, but does it's presence discourage the dwarves from coming this direction? If so it might be worth leaving in place for a while."

Re: Founding Clifftown
Clifftown
As the return groups meet up and become acquainted, there is plenty of talk about new adventuring groups starting out. The preparations for the new town are scant, but the jobs that are being tackled seem to be coming along nicely. With a little help, there should be enough area for everyone to sleep out the night in relative comfort without being eaten by the bugs.
The Princess acts as the new towns welcoming committee, doing a masterful job of keeping folks informed and introduced. She continues a constant avenue of communication between Marge, Liam, and the workers in order to keep the work progressing. She seems to be enjoying meeting all the strange new folks that she will soon call neighbors if things continue to improve.
Luther starts taking down names for a party he will lead into the jungle to the north where he intends to investigate any areas that haven't been unexplored yet. So far, the gnome TK, and the human cleric Wake confirm their interest, while the warrior Amun watches intently to see if her skills would be needed.
Sir Narramore expresses interest in finding the herd of giant lizards west of Beachtown so that some of them may be sequestered to aid in town projects or to be used as mounts for his future lizard mounted cavalry squad.
Keyon asks around for anyone willing to go up the beach to deal with the sea monster that has been harassing any beach travel. Feanol adds a pretty valid point to his desire to eliminate such a creature, wondering aloud if the monster would act as a deterrent for the dwarves who will likely eventually come calling. Seeing all the prying eyes staring at the brand new magic carpet, Keyon suggests that they take care of offering any more plaques out to any brave enough to draw from the ivory deck. Wake and the stranger Amun continue to look over the box of plaques from a respectful distance.
Plaque drawing order so far: [1d100] Wake 27, Amun 89, Keg 92, Feanol 93,
There is mention of spell sharing by Feanol and Darklin, but with no reasonable place to do such a thing, they will need to either create a safe environment, or wait till one is built for them.
Elnaerel wants to take a quick trip back to Beachtown to visit Nallissa at the Hi-Lo to see if she can buy a new morningstar that she lost.
Did I miss anything?

Keyon
He ponders all that he's heard.
"Well...Feanol needs her chest and Elnaerel needs a weapon. Perhaps the three of us could make a quick trip there and back before anyone leaves on a quest?"

Re: Founding Clifftown
The Knife left some gear back in Beachtown too. However I have a feeling that going on this "short" trip will end up with him being in two threads at the same time, when Luther's quest departs. Since Keyon, Feanol and Elnaerel have been together since they all arrived, I would assume they were all sharing accommodation. I'll leave it up to OM to decide how feasible this request is.
The Knife
"Oh, if you're all popping back to Beachtown, would you pick up that stuff I left behind? You know, the darts, knife, rations, bandolier and all that. Thanks."

Re: Founding Clifftown
I deem it very feasible.

Re: Founding Clifftown
I have this mental image of Keyon looking like the old trash goblin on Labyrinth, flying his carpet very slowly three inches above the ground mounded up with everyone's belongings.

Re: Founding Clifftown
As Princess replies, Amun turns her gaze down and stands quiet for a moment, then looks back on Princess.
"Aye, this one too has lost not one sister but two." Another moment of silence. "This one hopes princess finds her sister live and well, praise the sword."
Afterwards she walks over to Luther.
"This one wishes to join, if he will allow it. She will run her blade through his enemies and scatter them over island. But first, there is thing she must do."
Amun walks over to the box of plaques, transfixed.
"She will pick one."
Pick a card, any card: [1d100]=89

Elnaerel
"Thanks, Keyon, that's indeed a good idea.
Yours too, Feanol. The townies had to come and go with their water but, now, having just to come here once, maybe that kraken could even help us against the dwarves.
The problem is that we will have to be extremely helpful, especially those moving heavy wares from there to here.
We can discuss later what we do, but I think there's already a large enough group dedicated to exploring the east. We could help rescue those poor animals from the dwarves. Feanol's sleep spell could work really well here "
The problem is that Narramore is already willing to do that, and I doubt Paladin will have want to have two of his characters in the same quest (I wouldn't).

Re: Founding Clifftown
If this is everyone we have for PC's who want to pick from the deck so far, we can get this started while group plans continue to form.
Plaque drawing order so far: [1d100] Wake 27, Amun 89, Keg 92, Feanol 93
Wake can roll me a d32
Amun can roll a d31
Keg rolls a d30
And Feanol can roll a d29
I am sure that once the others see the amazing results of these picks, they will be lining up at the box to take their own.

Amun closes her eyes, whispers somehting quietly and then firmly pulls a plaque:
Here goes nothing: [1d31]=26

Luther
Be glad to have you along, Amun. Luther doesn't react to her strange way of referring to herself- it's becoming a common thing.
Luther watches the plaque- drawing closely, to decide if he want to be part of it.

My request was that all the original party member (which would include Amun) got to roll to draw. After that we'll open it up to others.

"I'm all for getting Knife's things, but I think we need that fourth seat for the stuff itself. Elnaerel, we're going in at night from the water side, if it looks safe and if there is anything going on at the Hi-Lo then we can check it out."

Re: Founding Clifftown
I don't have any heartburn if everybody draws in the order they rolled.
And it won't bother me if my guys end up on the same quest. Whatever we end up needing to keep it rolling.

Re: Founding Clifftown
The Knife
"It really isn't a lot of stuff," says The Knife reasonably. "The darts and the small knife are in a bandolier. You could loop it onto the side of your pack. The rations and the scroll case could just go in your pack. That's all there is".
