Max avoids the spray and examines the mechanisms. He begins making a strange sound https://youtu.be/z3uior9g4Ag and attempts to HACK in the system using the aid of Achroma to find out what this is and what might be done.

Needle

Needle's attention is now torn between the events with the disconnected human experiment and the wall being repaired and preventing that escape route.

"Is everyone OK with us being trapped in here? Maybe we should try to get out while we can?"

Fortress Interior 346D/81 (Evening)

Urlando jolts away from the spray of fluid, that eventually ceases to flow out of the tubes. One head looks down at his arm that received the shower of liquid, the other monitors the mutilated body that stops convulsing and continues to hang, motionless, in the alcove. The rat manimal watches as the hair on his wet arm grows slightly before his eyes!

Podo prods the light curtain with the tip of his spear and it passes through the veil, unobstructed.

Saiph, emboldened by Podo’s test, lightly touches the film of light. His finger senses nothing solid or restrictive and nothing adverse happens to the digit.

Anton joins the two at the barrier and observes them searching for any type of panel, block or mechanism associated with the particle curtain. The area in proximity to the light is void and featureless; the light drops out of the smooth, seamless ceiling into the smooth, seamless floor. No source of the light is apparent.

Max waits until the flow of fluid is exhausted. He concentrates on the alcove’s mechanism and chants in an alien tongue. The flashing red panel goes dark and then slowly vanished from the wall, replaced by smooth homogenous stone.

Needle watches with concern as the illuminated blocks continue to plug the blasted exit. He estimates the passage with be completely sealed in 5 minutes!

Denslow arrives and notices Needle looking at the strange, fusing blocks repairing the hole in the outer wall.

Silvestri and Kurot monitor the results of Max’ techno-magic.

Needle

Needle looks back one last time at the closing escape route and then at the various activities of the rest of the group. I guess we're moving further inside. He adjusts his armor for fit and moves forward to join the rest of the lead group.

Anton evaluates the curtain of light. "Surely it's less dangerous than the cosmic rays my suit protects against"

He draws down his shaded visor and steps through the portal.

Anton expresses confidence that his costume affords “protection”, perhaps ceremonial, and advances forward through the light curtain.

Podo and Saiph can see Anton standing on the other side, albeit obscured by the cascade of rays.

Urlando concludes that further meddling with the tubes going into his mutilated companions is unlikely to help matters. He mumbles an apology to the one he cut off from the tubes, and follows the others through the curtain of light.

Podo

Podo tentatively reaches a spongy digit to touch the light curtain gingerly. If nothing happens to his finger as well, he will step through and follow Anton.

Saiph watches the others step through, and (assuming no visible negative effects) steps through the curtain afterwards to join them on the other side.

Silvestri sees most of the group pass through the light, looking from the light curtain back to the two remaining alcoves, obviously unsure.

He then seems to come to a decision...drawing his long sword he moves to the adjacent alcove and starts to use the tip to cut the pipes joined to the body there, using the body for cover as best he can.

"So, it's in, then, not out?" asks Kurot, mostly to himself. "Okay, then." He follows the others through the light curtain.

Fortress Interior 346D/81 (Evening)

OOC: Silvestri and Needle need to act unaware of the following.

As soon as you step through the veil, your auditory senses are overwhelmed by a deafening >HUMMMM< that saturates the air. Verbal communication is impossible, and organics feel an irritating tingle on their skin and hair. Kurot struggles to maintain a nominal power balance against his internal systems that have gone into overdrive!

You stand in a huge, well-lit circular room dominated by a segmented, black, metal tower rising hundreds of feet in its center. The tower is lined with hundreds of glowing blue posts 3 feet in diameter and 7 feet long. Lightning ripples across the tower’s surface and occasionally arc to several 10-foot diameter gold metal pillars, evenly spaced around the domineering edifice. Several corridors exit the large circular chamber.

...

Here and there, black-robed masked humanoids move about seemingly engaged in duties. They don’t appear to have taken notice of your entry.

Anton marvels at the spectacle of the rooms interior, then turns his attention to the attendants, attempting to discern the meaning or purpose of their endeavors.

He reaches out gently to his companions with a whisper of telepathy, hoping he can still reach their minds.

Podo

Having never seen something so magnificent or terrifying Podo's gaze slowly tracks the ascent of the enormous black tower in stunned amazement. Hearing Anton's words float into his brain snaps him out of his wonder and he takes notice of the robed figures. Immediately aware of his large bulk and the distinct possibility that it might raise unwanted attention to his group, Podo attempts to step back through the curtain of light.
