Darklin

Gathers his gear together and lays it all out against the closest wall. Sits his long sword on the floor next to himself and stands and returns the Magical Hand axe to Keg. Thank You. Our find will help Beachtown to stay safe. Maybe keep the Stoneguts from taking over the town. This is the second time we have been victorious in our quests together. Hopefully that continues.

He sits back down and gets some rest before his guard shift.

The Knife

"Maybe two at a time on watch?" suggests The Knife. "One could be charmed, or overpowered."

Keyon

"A wise plan, my friend. How about you and Keg go first, Feanol and Elnaerel second, and Darklin and I take third? So that one warrior is awake during each shift." He glances at the others. "Unless anyone objects?"

Rubble Reinforcements
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Early Morning, Sunrise, Warm, Breezy

If you didn't know any better, one might think Keg was afraid to sleep in a room with a dangerous life sucking monster only a few feet below him. Keyon sets his new floating bed up a few inches from the ceiling with plenty of room for at least two more female elves to climb aboard. The swashbuckler hopes he doesn't fall off during the night.

TK suggests rubble could be placed strategically to block the hatch and door, to which there are no arguments. Darklin expresses his pride that they have been successful in both of their last missions while the ashes of 2 of their friends remain trapped with the monster below.

Setting up double watch shifts throughout the night, the group is able to rest and recuperate magic while remaining hidden in their remote ruined tower. The get no interference from below, and the wasp riders they saw the day before are nowhere to be seen in the bright morning sky.

Actions?

1 hit point recovered for resting overnight.

Keg Woodwright AC1 12/13
Keyon AC4 6/6
Elnaerel AC3 8/10 3/3
The Knife AC4* 5/5
Darklin Sylvanas AC4 8/8 1/1 CL, DM, RM
Feanol AC10 4/4 1/1 CL, DM, RM

Looking at the map, it seems like there's a little over two miles from here to the other side of the gulf. Since it's early morning it will probably take the wasp riders a while to get here from their base.

Can we get out of here before they show up?

How fast can the carpet travel? How many people can ride on it, besides Keyon?

Agreed! Let's go back as quickly as we can. We're way too far from 'civilization' and way out of our league.

Keyon

Keyon yawns, stretches, and imagines how truly awful he must look. Dirty, disheveled, and far from his usual dapper self. "Artful disarray, mate," he tells himself. "Ragged, but enticing." He nods once, then laughs to himself as he orders the carpet down.

He leaps the last several feet to the ground and takes a bow. "Ladies, gents, knives. It's a good day to put this place in the rearview. The carpet will only bear four people, so keep that in mind as we plan."

Since Feanol is very slight and TK is very small, could they count together as one person? Or would that be too crowded?

It is limited to 4 persons on board, regardless of size.

Do we need to do a séance with Gary next or what?

Darklin

Let's Skip back home. Take 3 across and drop them on the other side of the "Claw" come back and get the rest, but we never leave less than 2 together just in case the Wasps or the Giant Crab come back. Travel just to where you can still just see the group that is on the ground and drop off the load and return for the remainder.

OK...one terrible plan coming up :D

In the Map thread, OM says that a move of 6" means it takes about 1 hour to cross a hex. So a round trip across the gulf should take about an hour. The first trip might avoid the wasp riders by leaving before they can get here.

I think we'll have to do this like that old riddle about the farmer crossing the river with a chicken, a dog and a sack of corn. Three people leave with Keyon and two stay behind. Then somebody will have to travel back with Keyon in case he's attacked while returning. (Do both MUs have Sleep?)

When Keyon returns to the tower, the last two people climb aboard and we bug out. It might be a good idea for the last two people to hide in the rubble instead of the tower. The wasp-riders won't expect that. Who can move the fastest? They might have to run fast to make it aboard.

I feel like the riders are going to pop up whatever we do. And a thief and MU being caught alone by several of them would spell disaster if sleep didn't do the trick.

I like the idea. Just makes me nervous. Splitting the party has historically ended poorly for us. And there will be a point where some of us are on one side, some on the other, and some in the middle. So many chances for bad things to converge on just a couple of us...where no one else can help.

A thought...if we have to walk out the long, hot way, we can always use the carpet as cover from the sun. Have it float above our heads while we walk. Might even be able to rig some kind of camouflage atop it to make us harder to see from above.

In the event we are attacked on the ground, the squishier among us can jump on it and fly up, then rain down spells and missiles.
