1) I need an action for Taka, then I'll post another round. (I'll be visiting family this weekend so if I can, I'll try to do it tomorrow morning before we go.)

2) This is perilously close to a TPK. :o In which case, everyone gets a character and you get to be the next group hired for the job. ;) But let's not jump that gun...

3) I need Ffilz and jmcatty to both weigh in on the proposed house rule. Especially as it is immediately relevant. ;)

Taka will attempt to step into an advantageous position and then strike again. I’m just on my phone until tomorrow evening so I won’t be able to use the dice roller.

His eyes close, quiet on the floor.

With two foes still behind him, the ronin wheels about, facing Eiji and Taka. His face sneers and he raises his katana to strike at Eiji properly... but he discounted Jīva, the stray dog at Eiji's heel! A vicious growl comes from the street mutt and it lunges forward, savaging the ronin's ankle (-3)

Shocked and surprised by this turn of events, the ronin officer swipes downward to dislodge the nimble canine, missing all his swings at this awkward and honorless proximity. Eiji joins in, buffeting the man around the head twice more (-1, -1) in tandem with the dog while Taka steps left and stabs the man with her fine tanto blade (-4).

Phase 10: NPC officer #3 turns to face Eiji and Taka. Attacks Eiji - which triggers Jiva's held action to attack first to defend Eiji.

(critical fumble, lose round 7 action) He rolls to avoid the incoming blows, but the skilled officer still slashes at a joint in the armor (-4)

A few yards away, four bandits can only make a semi-circle around Kobi. His potent will keeping him erect though he is perforated with wounds, he misses his first strike at one of the assailants, but lands his second. The blade of his fine spear slashes a throat, spraying blood. Now there are three. Meanwhile, he continues to take fierce blows from his dwindling foes, his body numb to the pain as they stab him over and over again, just refusing to fall. (-5, -7, -8, -5)

Okay, for the next update...

I need round 7, round 8, and round 9 actions and rolls from Taka.
- if you overcome Officer #3 who is engaging you, what is your next move? You can see Ha down and Kobi fighting with incredible wounds.

For Ha, he's stunned for round 7, needs to pass a Speed ST for round 8 to regain his feet while engaged, then posts an action for round 9.

Toshizo is unconscious. Everyone else is NPC rolls... lets see if we can move forward (with you alive) to where you all have agency to act again.

If she is still engaged with Officer #3 she will continue to attack, if she is done with him, how much farther down the hall are the rest? If too far to move and engage with tanto, she will draw shuriken and start throwing (how many shuriken can she draw at once?).

Interesting, you can't move and draw unless you have multiple actions...

Request to GM: I've been looking at the rules, and realize I'd be better off attacking from the floor, than trying to rise. Can I change my round 9 action to an attack rather than an attempt to rise? If not, I'm fine with it.

Sure, I'm updating now, I'll roll it. BCS 13, -5 attacking while prone -4 AC is BCS 4. Speed ST is also BCS 4. So, same liklihood, different outcomes.
At the least, you get a re-roll by changing, which I'm happy to allow. :) The main difference is if your foes have the additional +5 for you being prone on their secondary attacks that round and primary attacks the next round...

Jīva snarls and continues to savage the ronin's leg (-2). The ronin remains thrown by this unexpected aspect of battle and swings his sword ineffectually at the nimble street dog. Eiji cracks him again in the head with his bo staff (-2s) and then Taka stabs him from the flank with her dagger (-6) - the officer swoons and collapses from the collected blows.

(round 8)
Eiji moves directly to the fallen Toshizo and begins bandaging his wounds to stem the bleeding, Jīva licking his face and wagging his tail tentatively. Taka turns in the doorway to see the melee in the adjacent room, drawing a handful of shuriken with grim purpose. On his knees, Ha is struck down by mutiple blows and collapses to the floor, unconscious or dead. Kobi meanwhile brutally dispatches his last three foes then also collapses, a bloody ruin of raw meat. The first officer and one bandit stand in that moment, back to Taka, catching their breath over the bodies (or corpses) of her companions...

(You can draw and hold as many shuriken in your off-hand as you narrative like, but you have to sheath your dagger. Otherwise, you can hold your dagger and draw one shuriken.)

Kobi stands against the other three bandits... how is a miracle of will. He yells a "kiiiiyah!" and brings down his spear in a powerful blow, severing the leg of the bandit to his right, the man falling to the ground in two pieces, screaming. (dead, and critical hit disabled leg) The remaining two are leary, one striking him with a sword (-5) before Kobi spins the spear around and runs him through (-9), letting him slide off onto the floor. The last bandit is wide-eyed as his friends die, now alone.

Kobi swipes at the terrified last bandit, teetering off balance (crit fail, no effect) and allowing the man to take an emboldened last swipe at him, and miss. Lured inward, the bandit meets his fate as Kobi's spear now cuts upward, bisecting the poor bandit from nave to shoulder (critical hit, -20). At last, his foes all slain, Kobi collapses to the floor, a bloody ruin.

Ok, since Taka can only throw one shuriken per round, and she's unlikely to get many shots, she will just draw one, keeping the tanto in hand, and throw the shuriken.

I don't know if on 9 she will get a rear shot or not, here's the shuriken roll:

Scrap that. Because Taka goes last on initiative, I will post and let you have a more informed reaction at initiative count 2.

The bandit and his ronin officer, standing amidst a dozen slain men scattered amid dirty mats and pools of blood, turn to see the Buke noblewoman who has now appeared in the doorway at the far end of the room (9 yards), a superior dagger in one hand as she draws a shuriken with the other. Her unexpected presence seems to change their demeanor significantly.

The officer pauses, katana still in hand and ready, his companion taking a step back and behind. "Peace, Buke-sama... let us leave and we will do so. We will take our furoshlki if you are generous." He nods to the bedrolls and personal effects scattered in the battle.

Does this look like the leader? If not the leader, Taka would be willing to let these two go to carry the message not to mess with the merchant but if this appears to be the bandit leader, he must of course pay with his life. Of course if I let them go, they must deliver the box before they depart. Let me know Taka's perception about the leader and then I will offer her statement.

The man is clearly a leader, a skilled ronin with confident demeanor rather than the bandit rabble, but doesn't appear to be moreso than the ronin you fought in the hall as he emerged from a private bedroom (she never saw the third officer alive and he now is just among the bodies scattered on the floor). All of the men are dressed in worn-out nagagi, poor samurai kimonos, armor pieces being on the ground against the wall, and none are more distinguished in appearance.

If you are unsure, you can question them, which I will resolve using social rules (you now request information, likely results in compromises) or if you can roleplay getting effectively to touch range you can describe how the Fetters of Truth spell works and compell truth).
(Or let them run away, or be generous and let them grab their stuff and run away, which are their requests.)
