Gerdal

"Alas, I do not know the way through the moors, but I do often travel off trail and I fend for myself when travelling through....less exotic parts of the Duchy."

"And you are very correct about rare herbs being valuable, Sir. Mind you it is not only plants that can be of great use to someone who knows its properties, but also fungi, molds and even body parts of certain animals. Dried or conserved, of course."

"Anyway, I would bring my own mule, should you decide to travel with pack animals. That would be were I'd keep my cooking utensils. Sir."

Steban

Looking at the others, Steban nodded towards Gerdal. "You know best if a pack mule would make it in the moors. Either way, if Miss Gerdal is going to cook then I suggest we pitch in for food and cover her portion as well."

He took another half measure from the jug, and sipped. "I'm looking forward to this. Tomorrow is the festival, and then early the morning after we'll head out?"

Gerdal

"Very well, I shall go with you in two days. I too will attend the festival, you're most welcome to drop by the market where I will be presenting a variety of food and beverage to make your festival even more joyful. The plums in oaken brandy in particular have something a little special in them, to keep you going throughout the evening and....enhance performance."

She raises one eyebrow slightly.

"Gentlemen."

Steban

Steban grinned and bowed to Gerdal. "Those plums sound interesting. Sadly, I am in want of someone to enjoy them with." Looking around the room, his eyes made his way back to her. "Perhaps as we journey together you can help me find a lady of character? I won't have a lot of money, unless we are wildly successful. Yet wise advice would be a welcome investment."

Steban's Charisma is on the low end of "No reaction modifier", though he is working on being a gentleman, and nice.

"We can take the extra food costs out of any treasure we find out there."

"It is decided then. Lets meet up the day after the festival and begin our way to fortune. And glory. Whatever you are into."

April 30th

Knatchbull enters The Brazen Strumpet with some caution. He never seems to get the reaction he intends-unless he's actually trying to pick a fight. The scale mail armor he's wearing is the cleanest it's been in a while. You've got to look good if you're ever going to find work that doesn't involve braining a damn cow he mumbles to himself.

Keeping his eyes lowered he makes his way to the nearest empty table and takes a seat. His stomach grumbles and he looks around for a server and to get a better feel for his surroundings.

April 30th

Fapp enters the Brazen Trumpet and looks around. Not seeing any, he looks again and seeing Knatchbull he approaches the Half-Orcs table.

He's worked with Knatchbull a few times and greets him . "G'day Knatchbull. Ain't seen you in a while, how's things? Mind if I join ya?"

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern.

April 30th. 1066.

Bollo the barkeeper welcomes the new arrivals Knatchbull and Fappy, the 'little and large' half-orc and halfling duo arriving from Ironguard with the latest wagon train.

The pair manage to find a small table and take in the atmosphere. The aroma is filled with the scent of bowls of fresh venison and eel stew, wrapped in spring green cabbage and laced with diced orange carrots and purple rootstock in a thick gravy sauce. Crusty bread, hot and toasty served alongside. The craft ale, locally brewed, is overflowing in frothy tankards. The three serving wenches are rushed off their feet but one eventually gets around to serve you both.

you simply order what you want, using the menu and prices shown in the very first tavern post and deduct the appropriate total from your coin inventory.

You are lucky to get a seat. Tonight Bublé the bard is playing and seated at a long table in front of the dance floor are a few rowdies celebrating a recent expedition. (The song penned only this morning and eternally immortalised in the Tributes topic). It lauds their escapade and is a tub thumping anthem.

(for this night only, pulling a wench might only be a normal 3d6 vs charisma roll).

Among those present for the evening soirée are Alastar the beggar who breakdances on the verandah, spinning on his head for coin. The guild master Osen is here with a retinue of 'likely lads', some dwarves who seem to permanently have a certain stall between them on their visits.

There is also the miller Hendon and the eldest of his children, Tam., some off duty militia and a group of scruffy adventurers sitting in a booth holding hands over a ouija type crib board.

Fappy & Knatchbull post actions and away you go on your campaign journeys.

Fapp

Fapp orders a daily stew for supper and has a few honey meads during the evening. He rents a room so he won't have to stagger home.

He enjoys Bublé but prefers the renowned Frampton and his troop who recently retired from performing in taverns and pubs. He observes the patrons

and will reply to any conversation headed his way, otherwise he keeps quiet and appears to enjoy himself.

Knatchbull

Excited at seeing a familiar face, Knatchbull's demeanor immediately lightens up and words just start tumbling out..."Fapp? There's no way I'm this lucky! Sit down and keep me out of trouble! What have you been up to? Do you think you could find some work for the both of us? If I don't find some action soon it's gonna be me losing my mind and not the cows."

Ignoring the amazing smell from the fresh food, Knatchbull will save some coin and order yesterday's stew if it's still available.

Knatchbull will follow Fapp's lead in any activities; playing the tag-along for the evening and soaking in any news from one of his only acquaintances. Knatchbull also suggests they share one of the rooms instead of sleeping in the stables.

So prices for food, drinks and accommodation are listed in the very first post of the thread. You simply state what you want (it is always available) and note the -123sp or whatever combined cost, reconcile it from your inventory as well. So the both of you sharing a twin room for tonight and for the festival day, with inclusive meals would be 40sp (2gp) plus say 10sp to cover incidental drinks and snacks. Just mark off (-25sp) each.

Merda, a young waitress takes your orders and brings back a tray of drinks and whatever food you choose. She chats amicably, as she always does, interested in stories of derring-do and brave adventure. She points to the bard and says " The song regales adventures from the local Barrow Mounds. They are a scary place and only the brave or foolish go there.

If you are looking for work, plenty of day jobs exist in the village. Minimum pay, poor conditions, you know ... digging the community latrines or fixing the dry stone wall around the cemetery. But if you want more reward then you can check out the village bulletin board for various requests or engage locals who might have rumours or needs that you can follow up on."

She also points out Osen the guildmaster. She tells you he runs a mercenary operation and can hire you or even supply you with hirelings and retainers if you want to form your own expedition crew. "I have heard too that Lord Krothos' men were attacked yesterday on the road to Ironguard and he might be looking for bounty hunters to nab the villians."

She smiles sweetly, taking 5sp tip for the advice.

Fapp

-40 Sp : meal, room, drinks, tips for the evening

"Nice to see you too, big guy. !'ve been keeping busy. My sisters keep bugging me to join 'em in their escapades, to which I always give 'em the same reply, NO!,"

he laughs and adds "I think they need muscle for all those , erm *coff* , legal things they do in the middle of the night."

then stops as Merda approaches.

-5 sp tip

Once she is done speaking he drops the silver in her hand, smiling.

"Thank you Merda, is it? You've been very helpful. So can we just approach Osen at his table?"

Merda "Osen is probably here for the music. He has his office in the guild so you can enquire any time there. But I am sure a tankard might help any introductions."

She slips off, serving others. You get chance to hear a rendition of the song which lauds the first Barrow Mounds expedition. Around the wall are various trinkets and items, reputedly gathered from the nearby tombs and gifted as a tributes.

The 'scruffy lot' in the booth are busy scribbling notes from the 'Otherworld' though a couple argue that it is one of them pushing the board puck around the ouija.

Alastar the beggar walks the verandah bent over a string marionette, a skeleton with top hat and cane, that he manipulates to various dance moves.

The tavern soirée continues, patrons drifting in and out as the night wears on.

Fapp

Fapp waits for Merda to pass by and gets her attention, waving her over.

"My dear Merda, would ye be so kind as to offer Osen over there a pint of mead on me?" he slides 4 silver pieces

in her hand. 3 for the mead, 1 for her.

After a few minutes you see the waitress wend her way around the tables and puts another tankard of mead in front of the middle aged gentleman. She whispers in his ears and he looks across to you, nodding an acknowledgement.

Osen the mercenary guildmaster sits at the head of a crowded long table. By his side a large muscle bulging man takes on all comers in some 'friendly' arm wrestling. You watch as a couple of 'street-toughs' get their fingers crushed. Certainly a few will struggle to grip sword hilts for a while or pull any bowstrings. A wiry, silver goateed figure takes the purse on the betting of the next wannabe champ.

Fapp & Knatchbull, you can continue roleplay here for the evening.

Knatchbull

Knatchbull waits for Merda to walk away and leans into Fapp:

You're always such an easy talker. She'd probably spill all of the town's secrets for a few more of your smiles!" Knatchbull expression changes slightly and he looks more serious before he starts talking again, I'll be honest though. I really didn't plan too good about staying here and eating all this good food during the festival days. I shoulda saved more coin. Unless we can find something to do tomorrow I better look for some odd jobs in the morning so I at least have a roof over my head, even if it's with the horses. Maybe this Osen fella will be our ticket, huh?

We are sharing a room and Fapp paid for ya, Knatchbull.

"Fear not, big guy, let me go see Osen. As for Merda I'd love to give her more than just a smile if you get my meaning, I'll be back shortly just gonna talk to him on

our behalf."
and grins lewdly at the big Half Orc.

Winking, he takes leave of the table and walks over to Osen's. Nodding to the man he will say "Hope your evening finds you well, Osen sir. Sorry to intrude.

My friend and I are seeking work and hear you have work to offer"
He gestures for Osen to Knatchbull so the man can see who his friend is.

"He is very reliable and a good fighter. You can ask around for references for both of us sir, I am Fapp, Fapp Bublu and that over there is my friend Knatchbull.

I too am a fighter, and not a rapscallian as many of my ilk are."

He smiles sincerely at the man.
