Expedition planning and discussions
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
I have two more players, Leitz and sastaz rolling characters up now.
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Orgoth
I already sent a PM to Leitz and posted in the tavern thread directed to him.
"Excellent work Sven. At least we know what things are now. I think we should keep the healing mud. It will make our survival more likely and we can give back to the community in other ways over time if we survive. I have already started doing that."

Sven
"Ah yes. I tend to agree with you that the healing mud will be invaluable to us out in the wild."
"I think I will tell the priests that we are going to keep it, but if they require it's use for some emergency purpose, they can ask us to use some of it at that time. Hopefully neither of us has to use any of it anytime soon."
"I am thinking that we will head out the morning after the festival, as long as we have assembled a proper party by then. Does that timeframe sit well with you?"

"That is fine, I will be busy as long as I am here, but would prefer to try my hand at adventuring again."

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
"As would I my friend. Tell me, in your honest opinion, do you think we can find our way through the moors again? Or at least find that campsite we used? I think that was about half way to the mounds or so."
"If we have time before the festival, I might like to take who we have assembled for a group and spend one day looking around out there again. The more familiar we become with the trails and landmarks we find, the easier it will be to navigate through the fog. I would like to figure out a way to mark out our progress, at least for the short term anyway. Something tells me that building a permanent road or trail will be impossible, but that doesn't mean we cant figure out how to mark our paths to some minor degree."

"An excellent idea, maybe one of the others will have some ideas or be a better trail finder. We can hope anyways."

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Just let me know when you are ready to set out again for the Barrow Mounds again and I will open another adventure threads.
Just note any deductions to cover your stay at the tavern for the days since returning and going again and if you want to pay Bollo to keep your private rooms aside.
You will all be fully rested and in full health, spells memorized.
Also bear in mind any equipment you might need, spades, sledgehammers, picks, lanterns, oil, pack mule? So these are available in the mercantile at book price. Just note what you buy and mark off the appropriate coin amount.
If it is not on your sheet inventory when you leave then you leave it behind.
With running around the village and organising, the expedition would start no earlier than May 3rd.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Steban is obviously a soldier, and may or may not have a lot of experience going underground, etc. That's part of the converstation he's hoping to have with the others. He does understand logistics; soldiers care about chain of supply and food.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
In expectation of Gerdal joining the next expedition, I have opened that thread for you to post in.
Conclude in the tavern and any last minute pre-expedition shopping anyone wants to undertake.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
This can be dealt with on the day after the festival (the 2nd, you leave on the 3rd)."I do not have a missle weapon,"
Mundane common weapons, such as axes, spears, arrows and any equipment or rations may be bought at book price in the village. Just deduct the coins in your post.any last minute pre-expedition shopping anyone wants to undertake.
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Steban has spent most of his funds, though I did just add two water skins. He doesn't have enough for a long bow, his missle weapon of proficiency. It works out, though, he has a big shield and can be the effective "wall" to protect the others. Hopefully we'll come back with enough funds to do some more shopping.
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
I just posted you can borrow Orgoth's heavy crossbow if you want, he also 6 javelins too.
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Just so I get this right: the festival happens before, during or after we set for the mounds? I was under the impression that we leave for the mounds after the first day of festival, but now I see people RP that they're leaving.
Anyway, it is no big concern, I will roll along

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
The festival is a one-day village rp special for all characters in town on that day. You leave for the mound after that day and can role play your expedition.
The festival will be retrospective rp for those leaving and current time for those still around.
Nothing will happen on the festival day that will hinder your place on expeditions, you just might gain more gold, xp or item reward.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
If I understand correctly, the village is a mostly safe "home base". Very open to role-playing, but not dangerous unless the characters instigate it.

Sven Expedition group
I am interested in your reasoning to choose to rest?
I understand a general justification that rest can be used by spell casters to regain spells. That is fine but if you think 'lets rest so the clerics can pray and meditate for new Cure spells and then cast them to heal us up' as the reason then that is fine if that is the direction you want to take.
But as I explained, the clerics, indeed any NPC hireling, are not just heal bots to fall back on. They might agree to this request but at a condition. For example Amos might say "ok, I will pray for two new CLW and heal folk but I would ask that the very next magic item we find will be given over to the Church of Arcantryl as a Thanksgiving tribute" or Bro Fabian might require a tithe of the next days treasure to help restore Cromm's Shrine or everyone carry a large stone back from the maze to Helix to be the foundation blocks of a new chapel" etc.
As far as resting goes, the clerics would not be able to receive any new impartation of spells until after midnight. Generally I do a morning devotion time is when they petition their gods for new spells. So resting now, even at 6.00pm would still mean another 12 hours before they could receive and cast new Cure spells.
As a mage you could study for your erased spells lost in the morning and cast them again in the afternoon if you had the study time in-between but clerics get spells on a daily basis.

Re: Expedition planning and discussions
I thought we were out of spells for all the casters. I have no issue continuing but we are in a weaker state due to injuries and no spells. I am fine either way but Orgoth isn't injured.
Re: Expedition planning and discussions
Brother Fabian has 1 x Bless spell left (-2 CLW)
Amos has 1 x Sanctuary (-1 CLW).
