Chapter 03: Elusive cultists
Re: Chapter 03: Elusive cultists
Korin
can confidently determine that there are no traps in or on the chest.
DM now rolls the requested d100 roll for Eaton:Percentage roll [1d100]=8
Eaton
slips on the algae-covered stair steps just like Korin did. He falls....but lands in the old barge, luckily. <splash>! No harm done.

Tiny will help get Eaton out. "Here you go friend, I will help you up, those stairs are slippery."

Re: Chapter 03: Elusive cultists
Korin gives a nod as signal that it's clear "The chest appears ta be safe lads." the dwarf reaches in to pull out the flask for examining.

Thorelf thinks out loud while watching Korin examine the newfound items.
"I wonder why that was left here. And what this place is, even?"

Re: Chapter 03: Elusive cultists
Eaton
Takes a short moment after getting up.
Now hear this.
The boat we have examined with some difficulties is a grave boat. It have been used to transport the dead.
You can see that there are signs of another boat here. This implies that the evil cultists quite newly has continued to transport the dead.
The box of valuables shows that the cultists ships valuables with the body in belief that the dead can use this in the afterlife. This is of course totally nonsense only believed by people who worship the old and inferior gods. But the information is what’s important in this case.
The map we found is probably the location where they bury the dead. Since they do bring valuables with the bodies there can be a multitude of valuables in this location.
Tiny, I’m sorry for the manny words. I know it hurts your head.
In short: Eaton have found where we can find more treasures but we need a boat.

Thorelf looks intrigued.
"That chav in the room did use his last dying breath to rave about a boat of theirs that was bound to arrive 'soon'. We could of course form an ambush, but who is going to pilot our boat? I can use oars but that's about the extent of my knowledge of seamanship."

Re: Chapter 03: Elusive cultists
Thorelf wrinkles his forhead even more deeply and scratches his chin
"Come to think of it, the ships never navigate by sail in the harbour, I've never once seen that. They are dragged in or they anchor outside and get their goods to the docks with smaller rowing boats. I think we can assume the cultists will do the same navigating these waters inside the cave. So maybe an ambush after all?"

Re: Chapter 03: Elusive cultists
While ogling the contents of the soggy chest, the team discuss strategies and tactics. Eaton, shaking off the cold cave water, is way ahead of the others in forming scenarios that could explain both unholy worship, cultists, burials, and travel across the seas. Thorelf adds his thoughts on the art of rowing and the feasibility of leaving this area by naval means, while Richard says nothing. But questions remain; Why would fast-talking, literate bandits be hunting a fake wizard ? Is 'the vapour' slang for Lizard man breath ? And what is a lusty evil sorceress doing in the midst of all this ? The plot thickens.....

"Okay, I think it's time we move on. My suggestion is that we try the door at the cells, as planned. When we have to retreat to rest, we do so in one of these towers and keep lookout for any boat that might arrive. Agreed?"

Korin "Alright one moment." he pockets the flask and grabs the silver arm band looking it over then putting that in another pocket.
