Chapter Nine: Year 300, 6th Day

Indrani's voice goes flat.
While she waits a response from the not-so-helpful emergency services operator, Indrani uses the ship's comm to contact Reven. "Reven, how are we doing on pointing us in the right direction?"

Reven Stiilpahth "Not good. I need outside eyes. Can you flip the cameras to emergency mode? Pretty sure i crushed that air raft though.""

"Reven, you don't need to see. Just use the inertial display, and use the thrusters to move the red diamond to the blue square on the display." Indrani's voice is calm, almost conversational. "Let me know when you've done that."

"Nālani. You need patches, a knife, and some kind of pliers. I'll tell you what to do..." Noor gives Nālani a quick rundown of the steps she needs to take, hoping that she has enough time before they breach the door.

Nālani briefly pauses CPR to gather the items Noor lists. I no other knife is available there is a small blade for cutting entangling lines as part of her suit's kit. Hopefully there are pliers and clippers in the toolkit. There should be electrical tape too, and there are the slap patches... Perhaps Arnwolf has a first aid kit on his suit...

I have what I can find, now what do I do with it?

For those on the crew-deck:
The Drivers are in Pranit's room nursing their fears and (in one case) cradling his broken finger.
Ulrika and Assana are getting out of the way - on the bunk
And don't forget the trolley load of hull-plate by the airlock
Zid and Maya will go where directed,

And if they coordinate this correctly, they'll do both lift and airlock at the same time...the airlock is now pressurised (or the light went green anyway).

So places please - Where are you and what are you looking towards (Pranit is behind the lift by the door to Pranit's cabin setting his thermite charge - which will burn for 2 full turns at about 2700K.)

n.b. Pranit has recalled that the top right corner of the lift shaft (per floorplan) has water utilities running up it...best keep the thermite well away of that.

Noor gives instructions...Nalani starts extracting bits and then sealing the hole. Arnwulf's breathing restarts!

Indrani looks in Tibbs' direction. "I'm cutting the dampers in thirty seconds, so find a place to hold on."

She is in the main space of the crew quarters. Through the comms, she says, The the tower control room was blown up. The Navy has grounded everything, and is clearing the space over the port. All shipping is being diverted to the south pole. Don't wait for help!

Then she ducks back into Reven's room to grab the bunk again.

Reven continues the .25G thrust for another ten seconds and cuts it.
n.b. You are doing about 270m/s upwards and are about 50km up. WIth no further acceleration, you should reach apogee in about 22 minutes and crash in under an hour (Numbers approximate as Reven hasn't allowed for decreasing G at increasing altitude) Plenty of time to sort out the infestation!

Pranits plan is to use the thermite hole into the elevator lift asap, even if it is a bit dangerous.

Holding with two hands, sticking the rifle barrel first into the hole with the stock above his head and autofire into the (hopefully) enclosed car, moving the stock left and right. attempting to cover everyone inside with spray fire.

Too bad I dont have a frag grenade for the 'Chunky Salsa' effect.

Pranit's Thermite goes off...as does the fire alarm. The sparks are spectacular and the wall starts glowing orange even as the sparks start to scorch the flooring. And then the grenade falls from the wall, still burning merrily and puddling molten iron on the crew-deck floor. The desired hole is present, but it's not yet approachable!

And then the wall of the lift facing Noor & Maggie's room blows in. Miya catches the full force of the plate as it flies inward, and goes down. Noor is protected by the half-closed door to her room.

The fire-alarm in P7 on the passenger deck goes off too.

Currently (fortunately?) unconscious and being operated on (no anaesthetic) by Nalani using pliers and a vacc-suit patch following Noor's instructions - although Noor seems...."Distracted" ....by events upstairs.

You'd have expected the blowing of the wall to have been quickly followed by the assault team...but they don't seem to be close behind. You can hear movement in the shaft though.
Someone had started dripping molten iron hull plate down the ladder!

Realizing that she has more time than she thought, she'll drag Miya back away from the fallen wall towards Zid, shutting the bedroom door behind her. She checks to see Miya's condition.

Nālani, hearing the commotion above through the open comm to Noor, checks Arnwolf is stable, gathers up her weapons and hurries to the lift, calling Indrani on the crew channel as she goes:

Captain, please do not spin the Queen yet, I am leaving Arnwolf in the hangar with a loose air/raft and engaging the boarders from below.

Nālani, hearing the commotion above through the open comm to Noor, checks Arnwolf is stable, gathers up her weapons and hurries to the lift, calling Indrani on the crew channel as she goes:

Captain, please do not spin the Queen yet, I am leaving Arnwolf in the hangar with a loose air/raft and engaging the boarders from below.

"Copy that, Nalani. Watch out, because the lift shafts are mined. Reven, just keep us on course, but don't start the rotation."
