Val makes a few valuable assessments but receives little response from the others. After traveling up this wider trail for a while, you endure no other encounters with friend or foe, but still get no indication as to where you might be.

With their scout leading the way, Drest sees that the path eventually branches off into a T intersection up ahead, with another wide and well kept path leading off to his right. This new path is even wider than the one you are on, and is lined with unlit tiki torches, as is the path that continues forward. There is no sign of life in the distant intersection.

Akhilleus

"Valkrina, you were right, we should think of a way of dealing with these dogs. There can be many of them, specially if they've made the other prisoners forget about their past with that beverage. They can have an army and we'll be overwhelmed. If we go to the building, maybe we'll find more enemies. To the beach, maybe we'll find a boat and leave this accursed place."

Euripides Nereos

I think Xenos makes sense. There's probably more people in town, so we should check the beach first.

Sneaking up a little closer, Drest finds the intersection unguarded and uninhabited. Xenos, Akhilleus, and Euripides all suggest that they may find a way off this island if they try the path leading to the shore.

The rest of the group seems either undecided, or more willing to head towards the building on their map instead.

It's funny than from a player perspective I would choose the building, because it promises more adventure. We know we won't get a chance to get out of here it would ruin the fun  But the character would surely try to look for every alternative to escape the place.

Akhilleus

"I still say we should go to the beach. There can be any sort of ship over there. The building could be teeming with enemies."

Wanders with the group. Until we actually find a boat and sail away, following the magical lure of the totems or meet with others islanders, there is little choice but to explore and search around.

The people on the island need to have some way to come and go, right? They have to have a boat somewhere. We just need to find it.

Trail Towards The Water
Noonish, Cloudy, Cool

Once everyone agrees to head towards the water first, Drest leads the way down this new path.

Quietly walking in that direction for a few minutes, the wide trail remains consistent, with unlit torches lining the sides planted every few dozen yards or so.

Drest is surprised to find 2 very quiet men suddenly emerging from the forest at the edge of the path right in front of him. The men pull down on their white robes as they cautiously exit the foliage, one of them wiping the side of his mouth off on a sleeve as they appear. Neither of them seems overly surprised to see the group, smiling at Drest and moving in closer.

"Oh, hello there. I don't think we have seen you folks around here before. Did you come to find Onja?

"Onja will show you the way, brothers,"
the other man says with almost no emotion in his voice.

Akhilleus

Akhilleus eyes the strange men to see if they are seemingly or clearly armed. He exchanges a look with his companions after their comments.

"Thank you brothers." Drest will try and determine if they are armed and if anyone else is coming behind them.

Someone else needs to handle any talking here or this is going south quickly since Drest has a 3 Charisma.

Valkrina

She looks at the guy wiping his sleeve.

"oh, you missed a bit. Some still dripping off your moustache on to your collar."

She points out his faux-pas. "Onja, well it is a name bandied about somewhat. Now I showed Tweedledum and Tweedledee, those two oafs carrying the supper my dance for the next festivities. We left them by the well, gagging for water as it were. My that well is bitter.

They spoke of their past lives as Viking types and how Onja helped them see the light. Is that not so? Where is their ship? I would like to see what brought pilgrims here."

The bard tries to couch a few questions in a ' yes, we are new converts not here to cause trouble' kind of way and hopefully discover if a ship lays at anchor or on some reef nearby.

The young Atlantean is not very bright, but he is smart enough to keep his mouth shut so he doesn't screw anything up.

Xenos says nothing, he tries to looks relaxed but internally he is ready to react to a negative reaction from the men to Valkrina.
