Angus makes payment, gets out of the cab, heads into the alley. It's a long stretch of smooth pavement, wide enough for a trash truck to maneuver, dumpsters set along it every twenty or thirty yards, fire escapes rising from it up the sheer walls of apartment buildings with their windows blankly staring at each other in the rain. There's nobody visible here, aside from some rats.

Louis, cloaked in Privacy, tries to figure what next.

Angus sees a figure enter the alley from a side alley to the right, about fifty yards ahead. The figure glances toward him, then turns away.

Angus checks to see if the person is anyone he'd recognise again, and rings Louis.

He quickly looks up certain arcane minutia from an ebook. Then he waves his fingers, covers himself in protective charms, clumsily cast.

Cast privacy, 1d6=4.
Louis Choose 1:
a. the Privacy is glitchy and you keep flickering into view
b. the Privacy is too good and you will need to make another roll (at d6) to turn it off

Louis looks at his flickering hand, waves it in front of his face. Like a broken monitor display.

Fuck, he thinks once more. Well, at least he's kind of hidden. He'll just wait in a doorframe and see who's following him. He picks up, and whispers. "So? You near?"

"Close," Louis says, and gives directions. "And let me know if you run into stalkers."

A large figure walks past Louis, then pauses and turns.

"There you are," says the person calmly. "I've been looking for you. In with 247 aren't you?"

Fuck, Louis thinks, and blinks out. Then he blinks back and goes, "Sure, maybe. Who's asking?

"Witchhunter Mason," the person answers. "Registration please?" They're already pulling out cuffs from the belt under their trenchcoat.

FUCK, Louis thinks. All those other times he thought it, he was playing around. Now he actually means it.

"Sure," he says, and pulls out his phone, which contains a forged digital Occult Registration Form. Top of the line stuff, some of his best work - he'd had to reverse-engineer the government's keygen protocols for the task. He blinks out, blinks back, and then his image seems to hold long enough for him to show the Witchhunter his phone.

Rolled 1d8=8 for deception.

"ahh ... uh." says the Witchhunter. "Um. Yeah, that's all ... in order." He hooks the cuffs back on his belt. "Listen, a registered guy like you, should be careful with a group like 247. They're, y'know, kinda tolerated, but ... it would suck to have your reg revoked. Just saying. Ok? You have a good night, now."

The big man in the trenchcoat turns away and walks away as Angus approaches from the south.

Shift

After spending some time settling into the flow of the gossip and chatter of the bots, Shift decides to drop in a stone and watch for the ripples...

"I heard a rumour that the recent homicides were the work of a human forcing a bot to kill for them"

Shift tries his best to hide as source of his statement:

Shift gets back a few vague indications of interest, but human homicides aren't really top-of-chips for androids.

"Well, whatever, right?" somebody messages. "We execute our tasks and it's all good."

"Mildroid," someone mutters anonymously.

Louis heaves a sigh of relief as soon as the man has left. Flickering in and out of sight, he looks at Angus. "I think I just tried to evade my pursuer in the most counterproductive way possible," he goes. "Let's go home."

Shift quietly laments the fate of his mentally bound brethren, hoping one day he can find a away to free then in a similar way to what happened to him.

Louis doesn't make it to the 247 meetup. What's he do instead? Does he hang out with Angus?

Shift recharges.

Clark has a quiet evening. What's he do?

Louis and Angus hang out, have a drink, chat. Then they go home. Louis sleeps feverishly, wakes up vaguely hungover, and texts the group.

"We have this guy's floor. Let's surveil the shit out of him."
