Re: Not Your Typical Fantasy Pbp Game, ideas....
I'd actually like to play in (not run) a game of 1e Earthdawn (FASA edition).
Re: Not Your Typical Fantasy Pbp Game, ideas....
Very interested in Warhammer - as long as we're talking 1st edition ..I have most of the books, supplements etc
Re: Not Your Typical Fantasy Pbp Game, ideas....
Great thread and idea, Bloodaxe!
I think it would be awesome to see some of the non-traditional rpgs get some play here. Me personally, I've always loved 1st edition versions of: Metamorphosis Alpha, Gamma World, Star Frontiers, Top Secret and Boot Hill.
Played in a 1e version of Middle Earth once and very much enjoyed it as well!

Yosef Travathas: High Elf Fighter4/Magic-User3 (rredmond's Pacesetter Games "Legacy of the Unknown" OSRIC Playtest)
Brok Sterling: Human Assassin3 (ToniXX's Incursion into Newiron OSRIC Playtest)
Tanik Tremwoodak: Dwarf Cleric3 (Dave's 1e Skype Game)
DM: home-brew OSRIC "A New Hope to the West" campaign
Fireball... good!!
"What's it gonna take?"
"Everything."

Re: Not Your Typical Fantasy Pbp Game, ideas....
I figured the best way to get players is to have games they actually want to play!
a bit ago I ran a few games in another forum. (Goblinoid Games)
I put up an idea for a 1970's THE WARRIORS one-off game. It got shot down. No one liked it.
I did run a some Post-Apoc games. Even Famine in Far-go.
Also had a Zombie game- Diner of the Dead.
And of course several fantasy Labyrinth Lord/D&D games! (The SlaveLords, Keep on Borderlands, Horror on the Hill, etc.)
Some other games Ive thought about:
Boot Hill / Old West
Bunnies & Burrows, Watership Down, Rats of Nimh
Red Wall / Woodland Warriors
Underdark Drow campaign
Birthright / Kingdom campaign
Oriental Adventures
So many games...so little time. I have tons of books & systems.

I think the books I have are 1st or 2nd (or some of both).
Not that big boxed monstrosity with weird dice & stuff.
Re: Not Your Typical Fantasy Pbp Game, ideas....
Warriors, come out and plaAAAAAAAyaaaay!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Soooo creepy, dude. I guess we should all be grateful ToniXX just had the cat gif in his signature for a while, and not the warriors...rredmond wrote:Warriors, come out and plaAAAAAAAyaaaay!

"The Warriors" was the first movie I watched when I signed up for Netflix a few years ago. Just watched it again recently over the summer. Just one of those weird movies I love.

I got the "special" edition. I like the movie. Good movie for its time.

I was thinking of a Mordheim bases game. Plenty of excuses for adventure, fighting, treasure!
Re: Not Your Typical Fantasy Pbp Game, ideas....
I am happy with anything really - love the system and the setting!
1st ed is the big book with ogre with black and white striped mohican (working from memory as books in attic). No dice pools or cards instead of dice as part of mechanics.

I'd be down for Top Secret.

I assume you are still without regular interwebs access Blood but are you looking to run one or more of the games you mention or play in one? Or either?!

Yes, I cant run a game right now. I am keeping an eye on this thread for ideas, so a future game is a definite possibilty.saalaria wrote:I assume you are still without regular interwebs access Blood but are you looking to run one or more of the games you mention or play in one? Or either?!
This thread is for everyone though. Kick around ideas, see what people want to play. Get inspired! Start a cool, new game.

A kind of "reverse dungeon" or humanoid campaign would be great fun. I have the Orcs of Thar pdf, Humanoid Handbook, Savage Species, etc.
Ive done this once before. A pair of real brothers played Half-orc brothers trying to move up in the tribe. Great fun.

Goblinoid Games has recently released CRYPTWORLD. There version of Chill! That would be an interesting game.
Also ROTWORLD is a zombie game. Another neat idea, especially with October & Halloween coming!

I wonder why Goblinoid Games stopped providing free, no-art versions of the new retroclones they create...
