Re: Helix: The Brazen Strumpet
Sven pays for a twin room for two nights, inviting Orgoth to room with him if he likes, as long as he doesn’t snore too loudly.
“Thank you Bollo, but my money was on the squires all along”, he jokes. “Keep the drinks flowing for my large friend and I.” 2gp deducted
Thinking about how to put their adventure to verse, Sven pulls Orgoth aside for a private discussion.
“So, what do you say friend? Should we stick together with these squires as equals, or would you prefer to seek out a more traditional group to explore with?”
“Are you wondering what we could do next? Because that exposed huge stone door on that already excavated mound we found seems almost too good to pass up. Most of the hardest work is already done, and it’s just sitting there waiting to be entered.”

Orgoth will spend the night with Sven. "I would like to go back, not sure about the squires, I think they need to work out stuff with their lord first." He enjoys his meal. "Adding some more would be a good idea I think. Maybe a healer if we can find one."

“A healer would be a welcome addition to our group, but it would have to be someone quick on their toes, not like some stiff old priest from the abby. We need someone young and spry who can navigate the moors easily. Like us.”
“You know, I believe Squire Franc is a priestly fellow. I wonder why he didn’t have the ability to heal wounds or chase off zombies out in the wild.”
“I sure look forward to seeing what Lord Krothos does for them. Maybe we will be rewarded as well, for bringing back his the scepter he sought.”
“Can you think of a word that rhymes with Silas?”

"Yes someone who can get around for sure."
"Good question I didn't pay to much attention to him."
"It would be nice but I doubt it, my concern is he might try and take my spear away if he hears of it, don't plan on letting that happen."
"Eyeless."

Sven
“Nice! You sure you don’t want to write this silly song?”
The mage moves in close and keeps his voice to a whisper.
“Your concern about the spear is warranted, in more ways than one. I fear we have inadvertently aided Krothos, who’s name doesn’t really sit well with the common folk around here, or so I’ve heard anyway. I think I will leave our proper names out of my song, if you don’t mind. I know the squires are committed to their lord by oath, but I am not so sure about the validity or sincerity of the man’s future intentions. He seems to be a leader who only cares about himself and his own aspirations.”
“If we somehow anger the people by having taken part in helping retrieve an item that will only make things worse for them in the long term, I don’t want the two of us to be permanently tied to that bit of information.”
Reverting back to normal conversation again, Sven continues.
“Can you think of any smart ways to track our movements through the moors? My mind has been obsessed with figuring out a way to make a permanent path back to that campsite and possibly all the way to the mounds or maze. We could finance it by charging people tolls to use it themselves.”

Whispering, "Agreed on Krothos. I just don't trust the situation. I think keeping our names out is a good idea, maybe no or a modified description would be good since I suspect at the very least I stand out some."
"A path would be nice but I suspect it would be lots of work. I have worked as a caravan guard growing up and trail building and maintenance is long and hard work. Perhaps just blazing it somehow, maybe with a paint only you can see? It is not something I have any skill at but I can certainly act as a guard as well. Perhaps find a ranger would be good, I have never met one but have heard good of them."

Re: Helix: The Brazen Strumpet
Sven nods, glad his suspicions about Krothos are not his alone.
“I don’t know any rangers or guides either. But maybe we wouldn’t need one after all? We have both been out there and back, and we found that same campsite twice now. With enough help, I don’t think it would be impossible for us to blaze our own path into the moors. At least for the first few miles, to the good parts anyway.”
“I have no skills in such things myself, you understand. Maybe it would be more work than it’s worth. I wonder how high the mists rise up from the surface. Perhaps bright flags on very long poles every half mile or so could be seen from a distance?”
The mage continues brainstorming aloud as he writes the finishing touches to his tribute to their first expedition.
Kris: Should I post that here in the tavern thread?

Re: Helix: The Brazen Strumpet
On the evening of April 30, just as dusk is falling, Isvand pushes open the door to the Brazen Strumpet, thinking it has smells that make it more like to be a tavern than the other kind of establishment that might have the same name. At least he hopes so. He had dinner on the road a few hours ago, and dinner sounds like an excellent idea again! Looking around and seeing that he guessed right, he wipes the sweat from his brow and gives the room a cherub-like smile, as he fishes his pipe out and lights it, identifying any "bigs" that may be giving him the stink-eye - and the proprietor or severing wench, be she a strumpet, brazen or not? he muses.
Not seeing anyone too overtly hostile, making his way over to someone who looks like they are harried and overworked, he asks Have you rooms for let for the night, and any chance for a fine dinner with good ale? After ordering, he will look for a table to sit at that lets him have his back against a wall, with a good view of the room. Settling in, dropping his pack with a clatter, he will blow smoke rings - and frankly examine all the people present -while he waits for his second, and hopefully best, dinner.
10SP deducted for a shared room & stew dinner -- Will gladly fork over another 10 SP if one of the private rooms is available at this point.

Orgoth nudges Sven. Whispering, "What do you think, maybe the kid that just walked in?"

The Brazen Strumpet Tavern
April 30th
Bollo the barkeeper welcomes the halfling Isvand and soon a bowl of fresh venison and eel stew, wrapped in spring green cabbage and laced with diced orange carrots and purple rootstock in a thick gravy sauce. Crusty bread, hot and toasty served alongside. The craft ale locally brewed.
you can pay the extra for an ensuite room
You are lucky to get a seat. Tonight Bublé the bard is playing and seated at a long table in front of the dance floor are a few rowdies celebrating a recent expedition. (The song penned only this morning and eternally immortalised in the Tributes topic). It lauds their escapade and is a tub thumping anthem.
(for this night only, pulling a wench might only be a normal 3d6 vs charisma roll).
Sven and Orgoth are present in the tavern, as are several locals but not Lord Krothos. Alastar the beggar breakdances on the verandah, spinning in his head for coin. The guild master Osen is here with a retinue of 'likely lads', some dwarves also who seem to permanently have a certain stall between them on their visits. There is also the miller Hendon and the eldest of his children, Tam.

Isvand happily pays over the additional coin. -10 so for 1gp totalNoting the jovial atmosphere amongst the crowd, he tries to convince Merda that it would be a shame to use that great big room merely for sleeping. Despite his best not very good lines, he strikes out. CHR wenches [3d6]=13 But not too badly, there’s always tomorrow or the day after and this is darned good ale. He buys another and tips her for her time -2SP. Still not sure what the party atmosphere is for, he leans back, enjoying the ale and making small talk with anyone who will chat with him.

Re: Helix: The Brazen Strumpet
Sven looks over the halfling from a distance.
“If there is one thing I have learned from our recent successes with the squires, is to never judge a book by its cover.”
After watching the lone patron for a while longer, he continues.
“He doesn’t look like the healing type to me, but I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to say hello at least.”
The young mage waves at the newcomer from across the room, pointing to an empty chair at their table.
“Invite him over to have a drink if you wish. The least we could do is find out who he is and what he plans on doing around here.”
Re: Helix: The Brazen Strumpet
Orgoth
Orgoth raises his voice and directs it to Isvand, "Hey there, would you like to join us for a drink? I am Orgoth and this is my companion Sven." nodding towards Sven.

As they wait for a response from the halfling, Sven leans in again to talk to his friend privately.
"Say Orgoth, I really like that new spear sheath you had made. Very cool! I was wondering what you did with that pennon of Krothos that was attached to your spear? If you didn't destroy it, I would very much like to keep it as a memento of our expedition, with your permission, of course. Unless you had the same idea already?"

Isvand smiles and walks over. Isvand's the name! Thank you kindly, Orgoth. And you also, Sven! Do you know what all this hubbub is about? Waves his pipe to take in the room.

Whispering to Sven before they are joined by Isvand, "I still have it, I hid it in our room, you are welcome to examine it."
To Isvand, "Not sure, maybe just a good time."

"Hail and well met, Isvand! Sit for a spell and drink with us. I guess we might know a little something about what is happening here." He nods at the group of drunken squires near the stage and smiles. "Are you asking about anyone in particular?"
