OOC THREAD FOUR....
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
When Vale was sensing emotions, did he get a sense of numbers aboard? That might give us an idea of how many are waiting on the cutter.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Hey Starboard....no, not exactly...he'd know it was more than 10, less than 50, but that's about it.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Okay, that's definitely outside our comfort zone, thanks. I think haggling and smooth talking is our best solution here, like everyone says.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
RE: Cargo dealing: Personally, I'm not that into the nitty-gritty details, I'm perfectly happy with Max just hand-waving it with a few rolls behind the scenes and telling us the net results (and just assume we sell whatever's in demand and buy whatever's in surplus). For example, in this case Max might make some rolls and say "You get a good price selling the Entertainment products, and you load up on 40 tons of Minerals which were offered too cheap to refuse. Your net gain is X credits."
That being said, if another player is really interested in wheeling and dealing and specifying exactly what cargo we buy/sell at exactly what price and thinking about (for example) "we can sell the foodstuffs at a small loss, but then that will free up our cargo space to load up on this bargain price for metals in order to make a larger profit at our next stop", I'm more than happy to let them do so.

Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
I agree with kipper, fine with this sort of thing just being handles quickly.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
I think that works. If Max is using the standard trade rules in Galaxy Guide 6, then those interested can just use the table themselves and let him know what we're buying and selling without having to role play it.
There's also those rules about docking and refueling costs, how many days it takes to make contact with a buyer or seller, negotiation time. It would be neat to play all that out like a Traveller game, but it also adds a number of steps that are basically played out the same way each time. So I'm happy to let the GM just take care of that and assume we use our best person for each step and do everything fairly cautiously, then tell us how many days pass and how good of a deal we got, what leads we picked up, etc. If there's a serious complication he can always pause at that spot and let us play it out.

Hey there, that's good to know were you guys stand.....ybn, Solo, Rose....thoughts?
I'm MOSTLY using the rules as written in Galaxy Guide 6, but making allowances/making it easier for a game like this with some mods and hand waves, etc.

Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
I'm good with the way mentioned by Kipper.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
My apologies everyone, I seem to have lost track of thinking about this game with my other game on this site, a RL game I'm running and various other things going at home.....DOH!
I WILL get a new post up in the next few days, so sorry!

Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Clark is still busy talking to Ereskin so I haven't responded in the game thread, but I'm liking the mission to Adarlon better than the Gesaril one.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
I am going to visit family and will most likely be off line until Sunday as my only internet will be my work laptop and I don't know if it will connect to the Unseen Servant (it doesn't at work). No matter what I will be less active. Please feel free to NPC my character.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Sorry for the delay all, crazy week +, new post this weekend!
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Hey guys, sorry for being incommunicado for so long. I had a pretty busy run of months there (going back to the office part-time and working from home part-time, updating and editing chapters for a book we publish, etc.), so I've been pretty checked out on the game here.
Is it a problem if I chime back in again? Max, if you want to run Cal as an NPC in my absence (whenever that happens), I have no problem with it. If that's not really practical, I understand.

Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Absolutely post away amigo!
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Thanks guys. I'll try to be better about staying on top of the threads.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
I'll be away from my computer for about a week and most likely unable to post during that time.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Should we go after the engines and try to disable them or the bridge? Maybe split into 2 groups?
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
If we split up we may not be strong enough to take either position (assuming the pirates have control of the engine room and the bridge by the time we get to either one).
I don't know if any of the characters are qualified to know how to disable the engines from the engine room? We've got a couple of characters with demolitions skill, but we'd need explosives and it's pretty risky.
Whereas I think we'd have a better chance of doing some good if we get to the bridge: Dagger seems to be heading for the bridge and could use our help, but even if Dagger doesn't show up Jackson might be able to figure out the controls.

Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
As much as I like to blow things up, maybe the bridge is the better option. More heroic, less 'detained for questioning'.
Re: OOC THREAD FOUR....
Jackson has Starship Repair but its not his highest skill. His starship skills lean more towards being on the bridge.
