Not all of the buildings have "private" security cameras, but the ubiquitous official security cams are present on lightposts near each scene. It could be quicker, though probably more dangerous, to access the GovCorp security stacks. On the other hand, the private cams - if the owners have paid for long term backups - could provide better angles on the scenes as they're mounted closer to street level. Private cam feeds might be available for the following:

Pete Jenkins and Pheng Sokha both have private security cams at their crime scenes. The private cams might have logs going back eight weeks. The third death, the unidentified female, might have been captured on the GovCorp cam across the street.

I never asked this before but as a govcorp employee, can I get access to stuff like this?

Clark's middle management role, with its vaguely defined responsibilities, conceivably could give him a reason to access control camera feeds for some kind of data reconfiguration and analysis project. If you'd like to try legitimately escalating Clark's login privileges: next time he's in touch with his day job, roll Connections to get assigned a somewhat relevant new project.

Louis cleans up - it takes a while - and then goes to the techno-orgy, participates, makes connections, oscillates between bliss and discomfort. He keeps his ear to the ground, looking to hear of or meet one Arthur Sullivan.

Sorry for the radio silence - computer broke down! Frightening how absolutely debilitating that can be. Anyway, I rolled Connections 1d8, and got... a 1! Do you want me to roll something else for fallout, like maybe Anonymity?

I've lost track a little. Where is everybody? I know Louis is in his apartment hacking, Shift is (somewhere) parsing video, Clark is ? and Angus is ?

Clark walks home, kicks off his shoes, takes his suit and tie off, puts on a pair of comfortable pants and sits down in a big old armchair. He takes a long, hard look at his GovCorp ID. He throws it away, then thinks better of it, and puts it back into his jacket pocket. He spends the rest of the evening watching the news footage of the protests, the cleaned up footage that was posted, and the reactions to the two events.

Well, I'm supposed to be in the training facility taking a class...Seems a good time to take the temperature of the feelings of the class!

I'm sure Shift has found a spot to recharge with net access hidden amongst other bots.

Things don't go quite that smooth for Louis. We'll save the Connections roll for later if it's needed.

It's a little uncomfortable for Louis to be looking for the dingy, dirty street signs bolted to the sides of buildings, rather than looking down at the bright clean screen of his phone for directions. He starts at Iggy's and continues along the street for several blocks.

Along the way he passes an appliance repair shop. It's closed for the evening, but a fixed-up flat screen TV in the window is playing the evening news and weather - loudly. As he passes, he hears through the glass: "And now it's twelve past the hour, and we've been taking listener requests ... remember you can text, call or howl us at channel8news ... And Cynara requested a light cool rain for the hour. Coming right up." Louis pauses and glances at the screen as the weather witch gestures arcanely toward the map projection.

A few moments later, a light cool rain begins to fall.

A little damper and getting damper every moment, Louis continues. As he does, he begins to feel like he's being followed.

What do you do?

Does Clark start trying to work his connections tonight, or?

Shift retracts his legs to crouch on his main propulsor motors. It's a low-energy state that also puts his retractaplug within the specified range of heights for one of the wall outlets in the android hall. There's a micro-charge to his GovCorp account for the recharge. Around him other cleaning droids and maintenance droids and even some factory droids are settling down (most factory droids get free recharge from their employers, but some like to go off-site to socialize). Wireless comms are buzzing with daily gossip and news. What does Shift contribute?

Angus finds his classroom angry and unsettled. News of the Luiz beatdown has rapidly spread and she is a popular local figure. There's talk of a student strike. Angus is legally required to document that kind of talk. Does he do so? Whose names does he note?

Does Clark start trying to work his connections tonight, or?

Day job, day connections. Tomorrow, if all goes well.

Shift let's the gossip flow over his circuits, looking for anything relating the areas of the murders, the Luiz beat down or the apartment block, either useful information in itself or something that would identify bots that work in those locations.

Fuck, Louis thinks, pulling his hoodie up over head. He accelerates, slipping down a tangle of rainy alleyways, trying to lose his pursuer in the undercity. It's an ugly place to be, but if he could only find a cubbyhole in which to work some technojuju...

Angus finishes teaching and looks to head home - Calls Louis to see if he's up for a drink!

Louis picks up, whispers into his headset. "I'm being followed. I'll send you my coords."

And, with a few fluid practiced motions, he does so.

Angus does a quick calculation - Cab or on foot? Whichever, off he heads asap

Louis turns a corner and almost walks through a drug deal. The two trolls look at him angrily. "The fuck?!" snarls one of them.

Angus jumps into the cab and gives the address to the driver. The driver turns and stares at him with raised eyebrows. "I don't do alleyways. Nearest main street ok?"

Louis puts his hands up in a placating gesture. "So sorry, boys, I'm trying to slip away from someone..

"On our way," the cabbie says to Angus.

The two trolls look at each other then at Louis. They tuck stuff into the pouches of their hoodies, turn, and sprint away down the alley. About fifty feet along, one yanks open a propped basement door and pulls it shut behind him. The other heads up a fire escape on the opposite side of the alley.

Louis is left alone with rats and dumpsters in the rain.

Fuck, Louis thinks, once again. He had a moment to make himself hidden. How did the spell go again...

He quickly looks up certain arcane minutia from an ebook. Then he waves his fingers, covers himself in protective charms, clumsily cast.
