The week in jump passes without incident and likewise the arrival insystem. Captain Lysel relies on his status as a corporate vessel to immediately obtain a vector for the downport and once it is granted he wastes no time loitering outsystem. A first view of Avastan on approach shows it to be a pattern of grey/brown valleys divided by snow capped mountain ranges.
The descent to the downport just north of the city proper is just as uneventful. However, you are soon descending between high mountain ranges. One Collace voice observes "Cor, it's like going down the back of me Nana's sofa" while another opines "Or your bird". While the scuffle is resolved the 400t merchant is assigned a park bay in a row of merchantmen [you are positioned at stand D (bottom left) on the map].
The trader settles onto its landing gear and Captain Lysel climbs down the ladder from the air lock to meet Avastan Customs in person on the dusty tarmac. He is greeted warmly by the armed Customs crew who wear quilted greatcoats and fur caps together with their compressor/filter masks. A flask is produced and a drink shared after which a McClellan crewman hands over a small satchel which is gratefully received by the Customs men who cheerfully depart in their open topped ground car.
Captain Lysel explains “That is our dues paid for a couple of days turnaround. We can go into town and sell goods off the tarmac. They won't be back until the money runs out or it looks like we're doing so much business that they want a cut”.
A pair of heavy rotary wing aircraft clatter over head flying very low (flight status as per the image).
The mountains rise like a neck straining wall a few kliks north of the down port. Avastan City and its own surrounding mountains are to your southwest (through Startown).

(OOC: Below is a map - note the scale a square (the width of the runways) are ~ 1000m. Your ship is roughly the size of the letter "D". Also note that you can not see into the nearest (round) hardened shelters for smaller craft due to the surrounding berm and "tented" weather(?) proofing (which must be retractable). Those to the north seem open topped. The map labelling is based on your assumptions as per a standard downport facility. While, as far as you can tell, Avastan orbital was standard C class the downport is a non standard design).
