1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles - 1st - 3rd Days
Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
Having heard the noise, and seeing the Bakemono-O fall, Omi will hold his bow with his left hand, draw his katana, and look in the direction he just heard the yell come from.
Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
But Kentaro is not on that map, hence my question.
He has been running 10 yards per round, so is a 22 yards straight-line from the conflict with Ito/Taisho. Kentaro is 18 yards closer than Omi, who reached 40 yards at the end of turn 4 so he could shoot in turn 5 (not moving) and I'm two yards per round faster than him AND moved an extra round. You said I got into clear view of the conflict last round (turn 5), and I heard the bakimono-sho clearly (so have a bearing).
I can't tell the scale of the map. It is possible that the bakimon-sho, since it is running across my path, may be within reach. You say it is 20 yards from Ito, I'm 22 yard from the conflict with Ito, I am faster than it is (BMA 5 vs BMA 4), and willing to charge to close the last 10 yards distance. I just don't know the angle or if it is possible.

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
Ito turns toward the voice and approaches the forest edge, katana still in hand.
OCC: Ito's current budo is 1, do I add 2 to that to get 3? IE: Level 3? On was straightforward, Ito went from 45 to 47.

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
The scale of the map is pretty imprecise, but for reference there's a yard between Ito and the o-bakemono corpse. The bakemono-sho started running (Turn and Flee) in Turn 2 and covered 4 yds (its BMA). During Turn 3 it entered the brush beside the trail and crossed it. At the end of Turn 5, Taisho was at the top edge of the, in a line with Taisho and Ito. Kentaro was too far away in Turn 2 to see the bakemon-sho flee, but he heard it yell, so he knows the general direction. If the top of the map is north, it's southeast (not ESE or SSE).
(When my miniatures arrive I'll experiment with a grid and photos to more precisely show ranges. Or maybe I'll learn how to use Dungeon Painter or something similar.

Yes, please add 2 to Ito's budo. Where did the other 1 budo come from? Did I miss something in the rules?spanningtree wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 5:21 pm Ito turns toward the voice and approaches the forest edge, katana still in hand.

Turn 6
There was a grunting yell of "yabai!" from the woods on the other side to the trail. It is immediately followed by the sound of swift crashing through foliage, moving away from the area of men and their horses.

No longer being worried about being jumped by the bakemono-sho, Taisho will break into a run. He won't catch up, but he doesn't know that quite yet...
I don't know if it's culturally appropriate, but if so, Taisho will call out warnings to not harass peaceful travelers, laced with curse if appropriate.

OCC: I left the value from the original sheet there, I assumed (like D&D) that folks start at level 1.jemmus wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 7:07 pmYes, please add 2 to Ito's budo. Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
With his fear that the campsite was being robbed, Kentaro pivots and continues his sprint to chase the bakemono-sho, leaving the main fight to Ito and Omi (and having seen the ogre collapse).
Still unclear, so I'll let you and Pythagoras figure out what the new distance along the triangle's third side is.
I believe I'm closer to the Bakemono-sho than I was to the original fight (and I was only 22 yards from that), and I'm faster than the my foe. Let me know what round I catch up and what the situation looks like on that round...
Seeing Taisho in pursuit as well, he redoubles his efforts.

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
If I understood Kentaro's moves correctly, here's his approximate position and path toward the yell sound. He's closer to Ito and Taisho than the sound. (Again, sorry for the imprecise map scale. I'm just eyeballing things. I've got the numbers of yds saved though.

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
(I assumed I was following the same path as Katsumi, and you showed him running along the path? That was my confusion. Wherever you place us at this point is fine.)
I suppose Kentaro chases until he catches up with the bakemono-sho or at least pulls even with Taisho, who can provide more details. I expect there's a limit to how far we chase if we don't catch him.

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
Marullus, I must have misunderstood one of your posts. I had you and Omi and running up the trail also. 22 yds from the fight puts Kentaro on the trail at the top edge of the map. The arrow on the map shows the direction to the approximate location of the yell.
Combat in Bushido turns out to be a lot like wargaming. I think we need visuals, not just text descriptions. I'll work on that over the weekend.
Reminder that we need Turn 6 actions for:
Ito
Katsumi
Omi

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
Ito stops at the edge of the forest to wipe his katana clear on the foliage, without sheathing it.
I don't think giving chase is wise, the other creature followed the deceased bully... it won't be back anytime soon.

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
When we have Katsumi's Turn 6 action we'll move to Turn 7. If PCs are still pursuing the bakemono-sho, we can fast forward a few turns until they can catch it (or shoot at it).

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
If my understanding is correct that the big one is down, the small one is fleeing, and nobody else seems to be interested in chasing it, neither will Katsumi.
As the smaller demon crashes through the woods, the disk at the end of Katsumi's weapon slows and eventually dangles from his left fist as he begins wrapping the weapon around his waist.

Re: 1st Scroll - The Will of Nobles
The big one is down, Taisho, Kentaro and Omi are chasing the smaller one. Ito isn't, he doesn't consider it a threat. It's probably around 20-30 yds to Katsumi's right, heard crashing through brush, directly away. Want to chase, hold, or do something different?

If some of his companions are giving chase, Katsumi will do so also.

Turn 7
Katsumi turns and dashes toward the sound of the yell. He, Kentaro and Omi emerge at different points from the brush beside the trail. They see a squat human-shaped figure in the moonlight running as fast as its bow legs can carry it. It appears to be empty-handed. Weighted by his armor, Omi knows that he can only overtake the creature by angling to his left and intercepting it on its path. The scholar Taisho continues to hasten toward the sound of the warty tan monster, though he is no swift runner. Ito calmly sheathes his katana and lifts the shoulder flap of his armor to examine his injured shoulder.

At 9 yards, I'm within range for a charge, right? (BMA 5x2 = 10 yards) My Base Action Phase is 7, with a charge it will go off at 2. I know Katsumi has some crazy speed and his actions go off first - should I let him post first, then I post second?
