Walking Into Darkness
Freeday, 26th of Goodmonth
Night, Partly Cloudy, Warm, Breezy

Happy to see the specks in the sky taking the long way around, Keg wonders if the strange looking wasp riders are trying to cut them off at the proverbial pass. He tells the others to keep an eye out and the group decides to press on towards their destination.

Though a few of the elves tell the human they can see in the dark, and will keep an eye out for trouble, that isn't exactly true. Their elven eyes can detect variances in heat signatures, but if there are none around, they see about as well as anyone else in the darkness. Anyone who doesn't know how infravision works, please read this: viewtopic.php?p=458533#p458533 Other than a few small crabs that make these cliffs their home, and a scattering of insects, their heat sensing vision doesn't detect much of anything else living up here.

TK packs up his sticks and tarp, hiding them in the rocks before moving out with the others. The party walks until darkness sets in, having a much easier time with the trek now that the blazing sun has dropped below the horizon. Walking over the cliffs porous, rocky surface after dark isn't impossible, since the moon pops out from behind the clouds fairly often to help guide their way. But there are times when navigating the uneven surface becomes fairly treacherous. Can I get a Hard Dex check from each of you with your next action, please?

After several more hours of painstakingly slow walking, climbing, and stumbling over the cliff tops, their moonlit destination in the distance starts to draw ever closer. Keg believes that if they continue walking through the night, they should reach the ruins in the distance before sunrise. Unfortunately, their water supply is growing dangerously low. No more signs of the distant wasps are seen as they walk.

I am just playing Keg's own ignorance. But thanks OM! :D

The moon is rising! Good! No even I will be able to see a little... I say we push on if everyone is up for it. Hopefully, we will be sheltered in the Tower before the heat of the day gets back. Either way, getting off these cliffs will be worth celebrating. I'll keep an eye out for any fresh water seeping through the rocks, but we might need one of those spells of yours, Elnaerel, if we don't find some soon.

The Knife

The Knife stumbles along in the darkness with the others. "You'd think a race that lives in tunnels would be able to see properly in the dark wouldn't you?" he grumbles.

His eyes rove ceaselessly to discern the best path ahead. The elf walks in silence, wary of attracting more unwanted attention.

Max

I hate to bring it up but If one had to relieve himself out here. Where would be the best place to deposit the remains? It is kind of breezy and wide open with little to no privacy. Oh no, I am good I was asking for Darklin.

[4d6]=18 Dex roll VS 18

Darklin

What the heck are you talking about. Get your gear and let's get moving. If you got to take a squat just go do it. Everyone doesn't need to know about your body functions.

I dig the comic relief, but I don't see any Dex rolls in this post either.

Walking The Dark Cliffs
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Pre Dawn, Partly Cloudy, Warm, Breezy

Once the group is completely out of drinking water, Elnaerel casts her final spell, resupplying all of their skins and leaving plenty left over for everyone to drink their fill.

Even in the moonlight, the cliffs are treacherous to navigate, causing a few members to trip and fall periodically. The sharp rocky cliff tops are extremely unforgiving on skin and bone, causing minor wounds to the shins and hands of Keg, Elnaerel, and especially the frail Feanol. 1 dam each But with the others lending a helping hand to guide them, the journey through the dark of night continues.

It is nearly sun-up by the time they get close to their destination, a dark and foreboding ruined tower that still looms a short distance ahead. The tower is half crumbled, a mere shell of what it once must have been. The grey silhouette against the night sky shows that at least the lowest level is still intact, but not much more than that still stands.

The party is sore, tired, hungry, and pretty much physically exhausted from their long, harsh journey, but they have almost made it to their destination with everyone still alive. As the early morning light begins to illuminate the furthest regions of the night sky, the group must now decide the best possible way to approach their dark target.

The Knife

The Knife looks at the tower. "Well, our plan was to rest up before we went in there. We certainly need it. But..." He waves his arms at the open rock all around them. "Do we rest out here and hope nothing finds us. Or go in there to rest?"

Elnaerel

"Finally here!" The elven cleric, still panting, stares at the tower, sweat running down her brow. "I think it would be a better idea to rest outside. Maybe on the side of the tower opposite to the direction those wasp riders took? So they won't see us on their way back. If they come, that is." She takes a look at the surroundings of the tower. "I know we're all tired but, shouldn't we look scout around before we set to rest here?"

Keg

Grumbles a little, his feet sore... his back sore... everything is sore. He mood was grreeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat...

We've come all this way, might as well look inside. We can at least have shelter. If for some reason we can't stay inside, we can camp on the north side of the outer tower so we are in the shade when the sun comes up and we lick out wounds.

Max

We must be ready for the Guardian. I was warned about him so we know he is here. I am out of healing and all of us are tired and some injured. I think It would be smart to stay out here and rest and recuperate our spells before stirring up the Guardian. Just my thoughts.

Darklin

If we set up a tarp as a lean to over there on the far side of the tower we will be in the shade for a while and can rest. Then we could enter around the hottest part of the day into the cooler shade of the tower.

Keg grunts a little and eyes the tower. A good point. Any chance this divine knowledge you have about this spook inside the tower tell you where he is or if he comes outside?

More Keg still eyeing the tower hard for a long moment and then nods. That sounds like as reasonable a plan as we can get. I am more worried about the sun at this point than the Wasp Riders, Elnaerel... I think the northern most side is the best idea. The good news is if we are in the shade and they are out in the sun looking down at brightly lit rocks, it should dazzle their vision enough to obscure us. I can't say how their eyes work, but that is how it would be for human's in most cases. Mine at least. Anyone else have more knowledge about whatever those critters were?

"I agree that resting outside before we enter is going to be our best plan at this point. We're not ready for a fight we don't have to get in to. As you said by mid day we should be rested and ready to enter."

Gnodric

"Yeah lets get the shade set up" Says the young elf as he hustles with what energy he has left to get the shade set.

Keyon

A little less battered (though only a little) than some of his companions, the agile elf eyes the tower and their immediate surroundings. "I like not perching here at the edge in plain sight of whatever lies within." He shrugs. "And yet I like facing an unknown foe in close quarters even less. There is no perfect way ahead." Keyon nods simply. "Rest."

The Ruined Tower On The Crabs Claw
Starday, 27th of Goodmonth
Pre Dawn, Partly Cloudy, Warm, Breezy

Closing in on their destination as the sky begins to lighten even more, the group can see that the ground floor of the tower is round, about 30 feet wide, and only a portion of anything above that still remains as crumbling rock walls and fallen rotting timbers. There is a narrow debris field beyond the remains consisting of more rock and petrified timber where the upper portion of the tower clearly fell long ago. No living matter is detected with infrivision, and it doesn't look like anyone has been here in a very long time.

There is a small set of stone steps that lead up to a single badly rusting iron door in the ground level, but no other windows or arrow slits can be seen in the remaining intact walls.

While most of the group discuss options for resting, Max vaguely reminds the others about the "guardian" he was warned about. It is agreed upon to rest out the early portion of the day outside the ruins so that spells and prayers can be replenished before any attempts to find said "guardian" are undertaken.

Any last requests actions you would like to take before resting?

Keg
I say we setup against the wall between the [10'] and tower with the leantoo. This will shield us from the most sun during the hotest hours as is moves west from the south. This will give us the most shade as well while we rest. I think it is also reasonable to think that any threat we get will most likely come from the west given the position of the door, this way we have an open view of what is coming at us from there or (for the most part) the north. Just my two cents.
Well. I suppose I will take first watch. Whose on second?
