Daisy gives the girls an impish grin and a wink. One of the advantages of being a healer...
IF there are no villagers who need a CLW, Daisy will expend the other two on Narramore.

Ah'm sorry, darlin'. Arvoreen can be a bit random with how he shares his blessings.

Sir William Narramore
The leonine giant grins at his diminutive companion and nods his thanks. "I appreciate the help." He flexes his fingers as life flows into him. The paladin places a hand upon his wounds and adds a prayer of his own to bolster the mayor's healing (using his LOH for the day).
He winks at mayor's helpers and heads for the Hi-Lo. "I'm off to see how long I'll be saving for a new helmet, if one's to be had."

After his minor healing, and a comfortable rest, Narramore feels mostly human again. He and his meager purse tentatively head off to the store, leaving the giggling girls to work on their reed mats.

Liam
The old noble will at some point venture out into the town specifically looking for Mayor Sister Lady Daisy to touch base with her about moving up the timeline for relocating the town, even if partially, closer to the river.
Once he finds her: Mayor Sister Lady Daisy, sorry, a mouthful I know, but it seems that every time I refer to you I get chastised for not using either one of those, so there you are. he smiles. I think it is time to call a closed council meeting so we can discuss some matters at hand. First of which, I should add that Nelissa at the Hi-Lo, has concerns about moving the town and her business. During our discussion I made mention to her I would sponsor her as being added to our little governing circle. It seems that since she is a large part of the economy here, we might as well include her in on discussions. But I think we have hit that point you spoke of before, where some hard decisions need to be made and acted on.
He reminds her that the remains of the expedition across the river that arrived spoke of better soil on the other side of the river and even cliffs that might offer some protection from one side to attacks and the elements.
With that in mind, we might work on the idea of moving small parts of the farming operations there first, I also volunteer my own livestock as part of this move. They need better conditions, and there is no longer any way around it. The stress of being on the beach is wearing on them. But a small group of us, with the livestock and farming, could go there and begin the initial work of getting the food supply reestablished before the rest move if that makes people more comfortable. A few workmen could even work on irrigating that area and that should help the crops as well since we would be drawing directly from the freshwater of the river, and gravity would do the rest to not only water the crops but push the salt out of the soil if it is there back out to sea. There is also plenty of bamboo, rattan, and timber to cut for new and less rushed housing to be built.
I think that is the easy part, sell and all. What we really have to do is convince Captain Quark to move his docking operation from here to there.
The good new is that Captain Bing had already beat him to it. He was docking out there already just offshore, so it is likely just a simple matter of creating a new permanent dock at the new location. Maybe even disassembling most of this one here and relocating it.
Regardless, I think this will be an easier sell to the people if we introduce a plan that works in stages rather than everyone pick up and go. But, with the added pressure from the Stoneguts... I hope we can still make quick work of it. What say you?

Ah don't know who's been scolding you, Mr. Liam. Ah respond to just about anythin' except 'Hey, bitch!'
Your right, the whole town's stewin' about getting moved, and who's gonna go, and where, and all the rest. If ya'll want to take the lead on getting the farming started beyond the river, Ah'm all for it. Recruit whatever help you need and get started.
She looks puzzled at his comment about Nalissa. Ah thought she was already on the council. If not, she should be. Ah'll go make her a formal invite.

Liam laughs heartily and nods. Noted! And I will answer to pretty much anything so long as one is smiling.
Wiping a tear from his eye he smiles. I needed that... Laughter is a healing magic all its own. I am glad you will speak to Nelissa. She didn't say as much, but she feels a little left out of the loop. Which, honestly, I fear many in town might. But, we are only just now forming the loop too, so there's that.
Another problem I see with moving in the long term is Randal. I know he is not a fan of the Phantatones. In fact, if you look at his treehouse, I think it might have once been one of their homes or at least incorporated some of them in the construction. I doubt he will want to relinquish it, and I cannot blame him. But, it might go a long way to "return" it to the Tree Folk. Just something to consider. I don't expect all of the people here to want to move.
There will be holdouts no matter what we try to do, and I suspect they will rally around him and his bar; and I don't mean to say that in a malevolent or conspiratorial way, just voicing a hypothesis based on observation. We need to consider that as a possibility.
Looking over his shoulder. On the up side, we now have a donkey with a cart, and two giant lizards as beasts of burden to help with any large projects like moving people and goods quickly.
We should contact the Constable to let him know we are calling a meeting. Perhaps he will let us use the barracks. Unless you have a better idea for a meeting place for now?

Ah don't. The barracks seems like a good idea, or we could go to the healing hall... she chuckles. If you wanna call it that, since it's mostly framework. Jaxsen will be back tomorrow- we should wait for the meeting until we can get his report.
Daisy looks toward the Zillas lounging on the beach. Ah'm no lizard doctor, but Ah kin recognize infections and wounds. Ah'm going to look these two over, see if they need any care.
Daisy will spend an hour or so cautiously examining the Zillas- making sure not to startle or anger them. IF she sees open wounds or other medical issues, she'll do what she can to help them.

Liam nods. I agree. Let's schedule it for tomorrow after he arrives. We will have a fresh perspective and that gives us time to let everyone on the council know and gather their thoughts and speak with their people about ideas and concerns. I have no problem with either venue. I suppose I will go let The Constable know and see what he wants to do. he chuckles. Now that there is an option, I'll be interested to see if he goes one way or another.
He follows Daisy over to the Zillas to see what she can do with them.

Re: Everyday Life in Beachtown
Liam and Mayor Daisy look over the huge lizards, now affectionately known as Zillas. They find the same kinds of wounds on both. Some of them look like spur gouges, but there are a few other light wounds in other areas from what might have been a blade or brand of some kind.
The war priestess cleans them as best she can, talking softly to the creatures to keep them calm. None of the wounds look serious enough to be concerned about, so she doesn't waste any of her precious magic upon them.
The animals meander around the beach area, walking down the tree line a short distance as they continue to munch on their favorite foliage periodically.

Daisy
Daisy loses herself for a while in the simple labor of tending the Zillas- scrubbing their hides with handfuls of sand, picking off parasites, inspecting wounds. Do they have anything that might be considered a brand- like an ownership mark?
Randall's Tavern keeps coming up in the discussions. Ah don't know what we can do about it. Ah suppose Ah should go talk to him directly- see what options are aceptable to him.

Daisy doesn't see any ownership brandings, but it does look like the animals were prodded with something hot a few times.

Dexter Broadleaf
Unable to purchase eggs for a breakfast, and without a specific agenda in mind yet, Dexter finds his feet carrying him back to the area where the fishermen build and refurbish their boats. He's interested in seeing how they have done implementing his design improvements for their outrigger and catamaran designs for deeper water.

Dexter finds little progress made on the boats after his initial tutelage. One of the local fishermen tries to explain.
“Well, we was gonna fix our boats up like ya said, Dex, but we keeps hearin rumors bout moving off this beach. We didn’t think it made any sense fer us to make a bunch a deep water modifications if we’s just heading fer the river anyway, right?”

Dexter adds, "I understand that part, but if the shallows are fished out, then the river won't be much better, do you think? Even if we do move inland, we may still need to come down here, get out on the deep water and do our fishing. Let's at least keep working on it for now, since no one seems to know when we'll be moving."
Dexter then listens to any other discussions on the matter, but sits down and starts working on the catamaran. This is actually the boat he thinks will be the most successful for fishing the deep water, but it is also the one that will need to be the strongest.

With a little encouragement, Dexter gets the men back into the mindset of finishing the modifications to the boats.
The halfling believes a full days work (or maybe two) will get the catamaran ready for deep sea excursions.

Daisy will spend the remainder of the day speaking with other members of the Council, and just being available for villagers. She's visibly worried about Jaxsen, but sensible enough to trust the young monk's skills.

Daisy finds that the entire town, council members included, are engrossed with the idea of eventually moving.
She senses that most of the leaders she chose are amicable to the idea of moving further away from the demanding dwarves, but there appears to be several folks who are content to stay where they are as well.

Daisy explains to the ones who want to stay:
Ah won't tell y'all what you need to do.
But remember: we may not be able to protect you. If the Stoneguts decide to march in with slave collars- or worse- we'll be too far away to just step in. Y'all might be letting yourself in for a real ugly time.

Dexter stays with the fishermen for now, working on getting the catamaran ready. Although he had hoped that adventuring would help him find another path, he remembers well how to put in a full day's work, and believes that the fishermen's ability to bring in food is going to be more important as time goes on. So he accepts that this is what he needs to be doing, at least between jaunts into the jungle for fun and profit.

Though she spends time trying to talk sense into some of the folks who aren't interested in moving, they seem almost stubborn and defiant about their decision. The more she warns them, the more adverse to the idea they get. Some of them get so uptight during the conversation, they blabber incoherently, making false accusations as to why some people want the town moved in the first place.Urson wrote: ↑Mon May 17, 2021 6:36 pm Daisy

"Oh ya, sure. Try to scare us or pressure us into moving why dont you. That sounds just like what someone in power would do."
Daisy becomes convinced that she will never be able to talk everyone into the massive move, despite how little sense it makes for anyone to stay behind. Though, she is encouraged that most of the people seem to understand the importance of such an undertaking.
