"Endgame: OOC Planning Discussion"
Re: "Endgame: OOC Planning Discussion"
Consulting Gaughan to weed out undesirables and also to give a basic skill set for each individual (confirmable by Kit) leaves but a handful of potential "targetable" recruits.
There are two regular infantrymen, a vehicle auto weapons gunner, several electronic techs and armourers plus the odd mechanic but since the "rump" of the remnant Guard are apprentice (recruit) techs and recruit tank crew with FA Gunnery (high velocity smoothbores) and Tracked Vehicle skills they haven't really got the skills you seek.
Tank commanders are a better bet (if you want G Carrier crew) - if Jess can make a recruiting roll...
Please make two recruiting rolls: one for the line guys and one for Tankies (if you want them).
NB Striker vehicles run entirely on the Morale of the commander so generally have a competent commander and utter "mooks" as crew.
Recruiting Vehicle (grav) drivers would be easy on Collace and less so, but not impossible, on Inchin (since by definition everyone's from somewhere else and no one wants to stay here).
Perhaps should go in the "Forward" thread but supply drivers and logistic vehicles (civvy air raft with no seats would do it) are now things to ponder.

I disagree a little. Skills can be taught, but honor can't, and raw courage doesn't come from a classroom. Jakob would be happy to take unskilled troopers who were willing to pick up an ACR to defend their "family in arms". He can teach them the skills, if they have the basic character.

What makes you say that?shaidar wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:06 pm oh yeah...we keep an eye on Gudrun's body until we leave.
We are less and less likely to get the salvage rights for the wreck in orbit, but I'll be damned if I'll let someone sneak that corpse from right from under us, we're getting more money from somewhere. Maybe just in case we should do the bio-bullet to the brain now.
I would discuss more, but I'm tired and kinda blah right now. Too easy for my blah to make my posting sound negative.

Before I roll, shall we hire those tech guys? We do need maintenance people, at the moment Jess and Frank (and now Freya) seem to be doing that job on top of their own. Even if the techs and mechanics are recruit-level it's better than unskilled. If they wash out before the next mission at least they're extra hands right now.
Don't think we need tracked vehicle drivers or smoothbore gunners.
Re: Gudrun, he's in the Ambulance which is in Jess' garage - possibly the busiest, most observed section of our operation. Tough job to sneak in or out of there.

Oh, I agree.Leitz wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:23 pmI disagree a little. Skills can be taught, but honor can't, and raw courage doesn't come from a classroom. I'm talking about "cherry picking" skilled guys out of the "dissolved Guard".
Getting good quality raw recruits is a separate task (optimised on a high pop world).
As per Jakob's test above sadly most of these guys (perhaps not unreasonably) hid in the basement!

Re: "Endgame: OOC Planning Discussion"
Do you mean the salvage rights? It was bestowed by the Baron and we have no idea how that will translate to the new setup and if they decided they wanted it then we can't do anything about it. In reality it was the other side that blasted it anyway. Maybe Erica will look out for us on this, but her hands might be tied. I'm the kind of guy who assumes the worst and hopes for a pleasant surprise, let's not think too much about spending it unless we know we have it.Leitz wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:24 pmWhat makes you say that?shaidar wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:06 pm oh yeah...we keep an eye on Gudrun's body until we leave.

I think it's worth trying to get those techs/mechs, were you including armourers in that? The Bindoner wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:32 pm Before I roll, shall we hire those tech guys? What about the tankies, if we want to increase our g-vehicle count would it not make sense to take some on?
[point taken about Gudrun's body]

Yes, he's about as secure as can be.The Bindoner wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:32 pm Re: Gudrun, he's in the Ambulance which is in Jess' garage - possibly the busiest, most observed section of our operation. Tough job to sneak in or out of there.
Re: "Endgame: OOC Planning Discussion"
Any hint that Kit is on the list of redundancies? We're going to need more officers if we are going on a recruitment drive.

Yes to the armourers, again it saves the officers a job.
The Tankers Without A Tanks are ground-vehicle crew, not Grav. If any of them turn out to be able to pilot a G-Carrier I'll take 'em though. Maybe.
Re: "Endgame: OOC Planning Discussion"
Well, let's see. Liv "applied" with Jakob, and Gaughan "applied" with Jess.

That wasn't an application, it was a pre-offer physical assessment.Gaughan "applied" with Jess.

OK, I misunderstood Tiglath's post (he mentioned the tankies and g-carrier crew in the same sentence)The Bindoner wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:53 pm The Tankers Without A Tanks are ground-vehicle crew, not Grav. If any of them turn out to be able to pilot a G-Carrier I'll take 'em though. Maybe.

Re: "Endgame: OOC Planning Discussion"
Well, I'm not sure if he has revealed his "top secret priority tasking" from the Baron to somehow convince Erica to be his new girlfriend...
...but in any event as an ex Imperial Marine his new job on Inchin may not be entirely secure...
Re: "Endgame: OOC Planning Discussion"
Not secure, boy this is coming out of no where!

Re: "Endgame: OOC Planning Discussion"
i do wonder about the randomness of the dice roller here sometimes.
if you use [_2d6] then you'll see the numbers for each dice, e.g.:
test [_2d6]=(5+2)=7
I'm slowly updating my macros, when I remember.
